Autonomous Sesory Meriidan Response or ASMR is the sesation of tingles in the head or throughout the body after certain acts or viewing certain situations. It is often triggered by music, watching movies, hearing whispers, or brushing hair. Other people get the effect by cleaning their ears with q-tips or witnessing people in embarassing situations.

This phenomenon has been popularized in 2012 with the "whispering videos" on youtube.

    Wikipedia on ASMR.

I am prone to it. I get it watching movies (even movie trailers), listening to some music, watching other people in embarassing situations.

I get it constantly when I watch movies, it's ridiculous. I just watched the Catching Fire trailer (not even that big of a deal for me, haha) and had it throughout, which made me wonder if mibba had a thread on it. It's a pretty pleasant feeling. I wasn't really interested in the whispering videos though.

Does anyone have any experiences with the effect? (:

    Oh yes. In Love
I get moved very easily, through words, music, or moments that give me shivers all the time. I wonder if there have been any MRI studies done to target if heightened activity in a certain area of the brain occurs at the same time as the shivers do, how they relate, and if some people's cognitive tendencies make them more vulnerable to it happening.
