I love horror movies, and I was just wondering. What is the scariest movie you've come across. And I don't mean the kind that made you jump at times. I mean the kind that you watched, and then had nightmares about afterwards.

I think it had been . .. .damn, I don't know. I know that I used to watch a ton of horror flicks with my Nana when I was younger - but none of them had really given me nightmares. I was Nightmare-proof, for the most part. Though there had been one nightmare figure that reoccurred all of the time for at least five years of my life - before my dreams took a turn for the zombies and car crashes. Something called a Jackal - but that had been a purely based creation of my own head.

Other than this? I don't know. Nothing, really.

But I have seen The Conjuring recently. Not bad.

Yea, I might've been too. But, I don't know. It might just be I haven't seen any genuinely scary movies. I've been wanting to see The Conjuring. Heard it's pretty good.

I don't normally watch a lot of horror movies because I get scared very, very, very easily, but I do enjoy watching them (or listening to them rather OTL ). But I think the scariest one I've ever watched was Exorcist; the very first one. The going down the stairs scene is always the worst.

I have this problem where I love horror stuff but I really just can't with watching horror movies. I'd have to say the scariest I've ever watched to this day was The Grudge.

Well, I find low budget films the scariest because they in fact can do anything because they don't have any limits. I'm going to have to go with... Hm... Simon Says because it was scary how they were twins, and you didn't know which one was the killer. Also, I find the movies that have the music like Halloween or Friday The 13th the scariest.

Usually with scary movies, it's the gore that really bothers me. I'm not really an avid horror movie fanatic for that reason.

That said, Event Horizon messed me up for weeks after I saw it and it takes a lot to scare me. It wasn't even that great but it just gave me this really icky vibe that I couldn't get rid of for a while.

I recently watched this movie on Netflix called Dead Silence. Maybe it was the ventriloquist dummy that scared me shitless, but that was pretty creepy. + the old woman -- what no one told me that she would ten times more scarier (if that's even possible) but oops. There was also this other movie on Netflix that I'm blanking on right now. Basically it was about a journalist who goes to some other country to do a report & falls upon this odd statue in the middle of the woods. Turns out that whoever falls upon it is cursed & haunted -- basically possessed by some evil entity. Let me google this & see what they call this movie!

There was also Hellraiser but I actually really loved that movie. I do think some of the demon guys are creepy, but still a really good movie. + has anyone seen Insidious//Insidious 2 or The Conjuring? Because I lost sleep over those. I don't think Rosemary's Baby was scary up until the end where she claimed something was wrong with it's eyes & then I panicked even though you don't see anything.

I've seen all three of those. I wasn't too freaked out by Insidious 2 or The Conjuring but the first Insidious movie fucked me up something fierce. I saw it in the cinema and I screamed like a bitch at those jumpscares. I slept with the light on for a little while after seeing that No

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was... quite frightening. Especially the end.

Dude...Insidious messed me up real good. Not so much the second one, but the first one I had to sleep with the light on for a while. And The Conjuring was crazy, lol. Have you seen previews for Annabelle (spin-off featuring the little doll)? Shocked I actually screamed just watching the preview. XD

Agreed! I guess I got freaked out over Insidious 2 bc the bitch that ran out of the closet made me Swoon & I was watching it at home alone at night oops. Omg, I've heard of Annabelle but I'm too much of a chicken shit to watch the preview!

I thought Insidious 2 was boring and I made fun of it a lot with my Dad, but the first one and definitely The Conjuring got to me. The Conjuring was the first horror movie that gave me chills and freaked me out and that's saying a lot because I grew up with my Dad, who is a huge horror movie buff, so I've seen all the classics and the in betweens. However I can't wait to see Annabelle.

Evil Dead (1981). I saw it on Halloween of 2008 in a slumber party with my friends, and oh, Gosh, I've never screamed so much in my life. I think the SPFX makeup on that movie is brilliant, especially Cheryl's (the girl they lock in the cellar). My dad bought the collector's edition DVD and the case looks like the Book of Dead so it made things a bit more real, haha. The inside of the book has strange symbols that look legit satanic, and the book cover has a wrinkly face made out of latex.

(Did I mention the smell of latex scares me? Shifty)

I don't think this movie technically classifies as horror, really, but oh lord almighty, have any of you seen Citadel? It's got Aneurin Barnard in it, who's totally crush-worthy and the main reason I wanted to watch it, but oh gosh, I couldn't even get past thirty minutes of it! Cheese

It could also be because I'm a total wimp and get scared at the littlest of things, but. Nope, not happening. As much as I love Aneurin, I don't think I'll ever manage to finish that damn movie. Shocked

... But for a real answer, I'd have to say was this one alien movie that I only caught a glimpse of on tv because my parents were watching it and apparently the alien was communicating in this really freaky voice! I can't remember the name of it but holy moly. Just the short snippet I watched gives me heart palpations.

To this day I am still terrified of Birds.
That movie messed me up, it was probably because I watched it when I was 7 and I shouldn't have. I remember having nightmares for weeks.
