Jennifer Jareau, or as she went by JJ, sighed softly to herself as she sat at her desk in her office, looking over some case files. It had been a long week for her, considering the fact that the team just got home from a case. But for her, the weeks have been longer and longer to her. It had been like this for about 4 months now, and she couldn't help but wonder if it would always be like this. Her way of being like this was because of one simply thing, and that being that she was pregnant. Sure, she was overjoyed to be caring a baby, jut never imagined that she would be doing it alone. Just her luck, huh, but things seem worse, considering when she told Will the news, she discovered some news that he was having an affair with some woman in New Orleans, and he was leaving, regardless of the baby. That had been a little over 3 and a half months ago. She hadn't told the team yet, but she knew that she was going to have to at some point, especially since she was starting to show.

As she continued to sit there in her office, JJ let out another soft sigh as she looked up at the clock sitting on her desk. "9:30 PM and you're sitting here at your desk. What a life, Jennifer." She told herself as she sighed off on some paperwork. She then slipped that paperwork into a file folder before getting up to file some papers away. While in her office, she had taken off her sweater, revealing a royal blue top with her midsection growing thanks to the pregnancy. As she stood at the filing cabin, reading over some things, she put a hand on her belly and just rested it there. "We'll get through this." She told her unborn little one.

The team had just been successful with yet another case, but still Hotchner had trouble relaxing. With every case they finished, there was another waiting to replace it. Hotch was usually the last to leave, and he was pretty sure that by now everybody had gone home. He tidied his office up out of habit before he stepped out of the door, closing it gently behind him. He was surprised to see that there was still another office that was still lit up. It belonged to JJ.

As he walked by, he popped his head in to see why she was still here. After all, it had been a long, nerve wracking case, and everybody had been anxious to go home afterwards. "JJ," he began. When she turned in response to his voice he was caught off guard by the lump of her stomach, and couldn't find any appropriate words.

JJ turned to face Hotch, when he spoke her name, completely forgetting that she didn't have her sweater on. When she looked at her boss, she could see the look that showed he was caught off guard by something. She instantly knew the reason for it, and knew that she was going to have to explain. "Hotch..." She spoke softly. "Everything okay?" She asked. She was trying to play this off.

He wondered if she had a reason for not telling the team, for not telling him. He tried not to stare at her stomach but he decided it was obvious enough that she was pregnant. "Congratulations," he said slowly, gesturing meaningfully to her. He tried to profile her, but found it hard to say what was going on that she hadn't come forward about it.

JJ stared at him when he congratulated her. She bit her lip, trying to think of what to say. "Thank you." She finally spoke. She sighed softly as she turned away from him for a moment. She felt really bad for not telling the team, let alone him. She looked down to her belly, gently pressing a hand on her belly. "I should have told you...I know." She said, still not looking at him just yet.
