We have a forum for new people to come and say hi. I think we need one for users who are leaving the site. You can say why you left, leave links to social networking sites you are a part of, and generally just make sure the people who like you or your work can still find you. It's better than a blog because too many users don't use the blog section and a lot of users delete everything when they leave-including their blogs. This way, someone wondering where someone went can just check the forum and then, if they'd like to, go to wherever the user is now. There have been a lot of stories about people who lost their Mibba friends because those friends disappeared. At least with a Farewell Forum, a quick and streamline way of saying goodbye could be put into place.

Definitely makes sense. Bittersweet but very functional.

I feel a farewell forum might reflect badly on the site. Perhaps a farewell thread? Maybe someone would be willing to moderate the first post to update it with names so users could just go check the first post and click through to the user's post rather than searching 157 pages?

    @ dru is beautiful.
I don't think it'd reflect badly. I've been on many websites that included farewell forums where each individual user who left was allowed to post on there, it was absolutely fine, didn't turn me away from the sites or anything.

@ dru is beautiful. I don't think there's anything that reflects worse on the website than the countless problems users have using the site or the way users get on Tumblr and Twitter and talk shit about Mibba.

I'm not saying there isn't anything worse, it was just something I noted.

While I like the idea, I think we should just have a farewell thread in the general section of the forums. I feel that with a thread, things will be more organized, especially if there are a few people to update the first post, updating it when someone posts.

I think this is a really, really good idea. I mean technically you wouldn't be scrolling through pages of pages of farewell letters, because of the fact that Mibba now has the "My Mibba" and "Profile" features. So, you'd just have to check those, instead.

I don't think it will reflect badly on the sight. I actually think that it will reflect as good, because if someone is very new to the community, or is just discovering Mibba for the first time, and doesn't know how friendly and caring people are on here, a farewell forum might just send the message that we truly care about the people on this sight, and that we respect their desicions early.

    That's my opinion.

@ aubs The only problem with a thread is that people will post on it that aren't leaving to say goodbye to their friends, and it can quickly get out of control. If we had a forum, people could hop onto a friend's thread and say goodbye-especially since posting on their Profile comments would, at that point, be pretty worthless. As Cicero said above, it'd look good to see that we're wishing others a fond farewell as well as welcoming them in.

I support the idea of a farewell thread.
