Illusions of the sunlight

"So do I," Jane said with a smile, her face blushing as Zayn looked at her. She still couldn't believe that someone so gorgeous could even be interested in her. She smiled again as Zayn pressed his lips against hers, her head getting lost in the feeling of him. She felt like a silly little girl, but she truly didn't want to leave Zayn's side. She hoped that Evie and Liam would stay outside forever, or at least until their parents got home or the power went back on. Whichever came first.

"I'm sure I'll have time," Liam said as he ran his fingers through Evie's soft hair. And he was almost certain that he would have the time as long as there wasn't anything he'd have to do for the pack, which he could try to finish up while Evie was in class. Liam wasn't used to so much attention from Evie, though he was happy to have it, and he couldn't stop his face from turning red. He knew she was nuts to think that, but he knew better than to argue with her too. "And you're the most beautiful girl in the world," he said honestly, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Zayn smiled as he really couldn't be happier, well he could be if Jane knew everything about him. He wanted to tell her about him being a werewolf, but that would only happen in time. As he pulled back from her sweet lips, his dark eyes instantly focused on her pretty eyes as a wide warm smile appeared across his face. "I've never seen anyone as gorgeous as you are, thank you for giving me this chance." He whispered to her and he loved being able to tell her how beautiful she is, he'd tell her every single day and wouldn't listen to her if she wanted him to stop or got embarrassed. It would only encourage him to tell her more.

Evie couldn't help but smile when Liam told her that he'd have time to pick her up from college, she watched as his skin turned red from a blush at her words. But then he spoke and it was her turn to blush, "You're just saying that." She smiled as she cheeks became warm so she hid her face in the crook of his neck, she was used to guys saying that to her but she never once paid attention until now. It meant so much more to her when it came from Liam, of course she never wanted him to stop telling her but she just couldn't stop from blushing even though she loved hearing it.

Jane wasn't used to being complimented by anyone she wasn't related to, and she couldn't help but blush every time Zayn looked at her. He was perfect in his own right and Jane couldn't imagine why he didn't have a girlfriend already. She was just about to speak again when she heard the front door open beside her. She knew immediately that her parents were home, and though they wouldn't be mad that she had a boy over, she really wished they hadn't come home so early.

"I'm not, Ev," he said honestly, smiling at her as he grazed his thumb across her cheek. "I've known it from the very first moment I met you." He could still remember the first time he'd laid eyes on her and realized that she was his mate. He knew it that moment that he would do whatever it would take to get as close to her as he possibly could, and now it seemed like he was finally there.

Zayn couldn't stop from smiling when he saw Jane was still blushing, he honestly never wanted her to stop blushing. A sigh escaped his lips when the front door was opened, he knew it was Jane parents so out of respect he moved away from their daughter. He hadn't actually really talked to them that much, he had already met them once when he was with Liam and they had picked up the girls for a day out together after the carnival. "We'll continue this later," He grinned at Jane as he didn't like not being close to her anymore, but he'd give it some time as he didn't want to pressure Jane in telling her parents about him. "Hello Mr and Mrs Carter, it's nice to see you again." He smiled at them once they walked further into the house.

Evie smiled as she continued to blush as she looked at Liam, "You couldn't. I was sick and looked horrible," She would never forget the moment when they met, she had been getting over a cold that her Dad had given her and she hadn't been paying attention so she ended up accidently bumping into Liam. They had apologized at the same time before they begun to talk and didn't stop, Evie had instantly felt comfortable and at ease around Liam which only helped them become friends faster.

Jane's mother smiled as Zayn said hello to her. If Jane didn't know any better, she'd say her mother was smitten with Zayn too. Of course, Zayn was absolutely charming and her mother was always a sucker for nice boys. She'd probably let Jane and Zayn get married right then and there if he asked. "Mom, dad, I didn't know you'd be home so early. Evie and Liam are just out back," she said quickly, for some reason wanting her parents to know that she and Zayn were not home alone. "We'll just go grab them real quick," Jane said as she grabbed Zayn's hand and pulled him towards the back door. She wasn't sure what Evie and Liam were doing outside,, but she was sure it would be better if she was the one to catch them and not her parents.

"Well, I thought you looked beautiful," Liam said as he pulled Evie closer to him, wanting to feel her lips just one more time. Her eyes looked so soft and warm as he leaned closer to her, pressing their lips together in a sweet kiss. All he wanted was more and more of Evie. Just to be as close to her as he possibly could. He was wrapping his arms around her as tightly as he could, tasting her sweet lips until he heard the crack of a voice beside them, forcing him to pull away from her while his face grew red.

Zayn smiled at Jane's parents before he followed her through to the back porch, his smile widened across his face when he entwined his fingers with Jane's so they could hold hands. "Their parents are home," He looked at Liam as they interrupted a sweet moment, he grinned seeing the blush on Liam's cheeks because he and Jane had seen them kissing. But he'd much rather see them then have Mr Carter walk out to find his daughter, his thumb was gently rubbing the back of Jane's hand as they stood there. "You two are lucky that Jane can move so quickly," He commented knowing exactly why Jane had wanted to come get the love birds, he would have done the same thing because he had a good idea that Liam would have had Evie in his arms.

Evie smiled warmly at Liam as she leaned in closer to him, she kissed his lips as she moved her hands to cup his cheeks. She could kiss him all day long and she knew she'd never get tired of feeling his lips against her's, she had been enjoying the sweet kiss before she heard a voice and Liam was pulling back. She looked over to see her sister and Zayn standing there, but that isn't what caught her attention. They were holding hands. "But their not suppose to be home yet," She sighed as that meant she'd have to go without kissing Liam, so she moved off his lap but still sat close beside him. She looked at her sister and gave her a thankful smile, she couldn't imagine what their dad would have done or said.

Jane had to fight back a chuckle at how nervous Liam and Evie looked at the fact that they'd almost been caught. It was obvious Liam was still trying to keep up the gentleman act, especially with their parents. Jane knew that their parents wouldn't care they'd had boys over, but they'd have been in trouble if they got caught doing anything fishy. She was still upset that her parents had come home early and interrupted her time with Zayn, but having him standing next to her and holding her hand felt pretty nice too.

"Well, I guess we owe you a thanks," Liam said with a laugh, though he felt like that was only partially true because he had introduced Zayn to Jane after all. Liam turned to look at Evie as she spoke. "Should we head out then? I don't wanna upset your parents. Your dad can be a bit terrifying." Liam had always been a little intimidated by Mr. Carter, if only because he was the father of the girl he was madly in love with and could be one of the only things standing between them.

Zayn had to agree with Liam on this one, Mr. Carter was terrifying. Jane was his little girl and here he was, holding her and kissing her although Mr. Carter hadn't actually seen that. A father would always know, he just hoped that Mrs. Carter would put in a good word for Zayn if anything did happen. "Let's go find something to do," He wanted to spend more time with Jane, it may not be completely alone with her now but it was better than staying there where he felt awkward to even be near her. He gave Jane's hand a gentle squeeze as he looked at her, "Let's get you a coat in case you get cold." He smiled at her even though he could easily warm her up if she did become cold, it would look better in front of her parents if she had a coat with her.

Evie smiled at her sister before she looked at Liam, "Our dad isn't scary." She chuckled softly as she pressed a kiss to his lips once again, she had never thought her dad was terrifying but it was different because he was just her dad. Standing up, Evie pulled Liam up beside her and held onto his hand as they followed Jane and Zayn into the house. "Hi mom, hi dad. We're going to head out for a while," She told her parents as she grabbed her bag and also grabbed a coat like Jane was doing, they got the usual 'be safe' and 'don't get into trouble' by their mom. Evie smiled as she raced Liam over to Zayn's car where he was holding the passenger door open for Jane, of course Evie reached the car first but Liam had been right behind her. She climbed into the backseat with him and put the seat belt across her body.

"That sounds great," Jane smiled at Zayn as she pulled a jacket from the coat rack and stepped outside. It was a little bit chilly, but not unbearable. She would have been okay without the jacket, but she appreciated it. Jane's smile widened as Zayn opened the door for her and she hopped into his truck, smiling over at him as he sat in the driver's side. "What exactly did you have in mind? Nothing too dangerous I hope." Jane was mostly confident than Zayn wouldn't take them all out into the woods and murder them, but it was always best to ask.

Though Liam was just happy to be able to spend more time with Evie, he still wasn't sure where they were headed, so he hoped that someone else had a plan for where to go. Since Zayn was driving, Liam figured he'd come up with something. He hopped into the backseat of Zayn's car with Evie, smiling at her while he watched her put on her seatbelt as he did the same. She looked so beautiful in the backseat with just a little bit of the moonlight falling over her hair. He leaned closer to her as he kept his eyes on her beautiful lips. "So where do you think we're headed?"

Zayn smiled as he did have a plan in mind for the night, he just wasn't telling the others so it would be a surprise. "It's not dangerous, babe. You're going to love it," He smiled as 'babe' just slipped from his lips but it came out so naturally, he still hoped that Jane wouldn't be offended by it. He started the engine and pulled away from the Carter house, he knew exactly where he was going but he first stopped at a store which he ran into himself. Having told the others to stay in the car, he picked up a few items before driving off again. It took him another twenty or so minutes before he was turning his truck off, "Here we are." He hopped out and opened the door for Jane again, there were at a little camping ground that wasn't to far from the twins house. His family always came here for the weekends when Zayn was a kid, it was tiny but they'd have a great view of the stars and they could have a fire. He had brought them some sandwiches and party pies for dinner, and marshmallows that they could roast.

Evie smiled at Liam as she leaned into his side, "I have no idea." She chuckled softly and kissed his lips, she couldn't get over how amazing it was to kiss him. She never wanted these feelings to end, as Zayn drove off she stayed cuddled up with Liam. They'd kiss every now and again during the drive, when Zayn parked she followed Liam out and looked around. "It's beautiful here," She smiled as she watched Zayn grab the bags of food and two blankets that they could sit on, they all helped get a fire started well she watched Liam and Zayn get the fire burning. She sat down on a blanket and instantly leaned into Liam's warm body once he was beside her, it was so romantic by the fire so she turned her attention onto Liam so hopefully Jane would feel a little more comfortable.

Jane had no idea what Zayn was doing in the store or what he had planned for the night, but she waited patiently until he came back, trying to ignore the fact that she was the only thing stopping Liam from jumping Evie in the back seat.

When they arrived at the small campground, Jane was excited to see that Zayn had brought marshmallows. Roasting them was always her favorite thing to do when they went camping with their parents. "This is perfect," Jane said to Zayn, smiling at him as she stepped away from the car. She couldn't imagine a more romantic place for them to be. Liam and Zayn were getting the fire started up while Jane and Evie each sat out one of the small blankets for them to sit on.

Liam had no idea what Zayn had up his sleeve, but he was just happy to be able to spend some more time with Evie, and he knew Zayn would try to give them as much privacy as he could. Luckily Zayn understood what Liam felt for Evie.

When they pulled up to the small campground that he didn't recognize, Liam quickly helped Zayn start up the fire, taking the two nature-raised boys almost no time at all. As soon as the fire was going, he went over to the blanket to sit with Evie, happy to be cuddled up next to her again. She looked so beautiful with the firelight dancing on her skin, highlighting every one of her perfect features. "You know, one of these days I'm going to keep you out all night and your dad is going to kill me," he whispered in her, chuckling even though he was only half joking. It probably would happen one day, and he really didn't want to get killed for it.

Once the fire was going strong, Zayn made his way over to where Jane was sitting. He sat down closely beside her and his arms wrapped instinctively around Jane's body, so he would keep her warm and secure. "I'm glad you like it, my family used to come here on weekends whenever we needed time away." He told her softly as he gently moved her even closer to him, he inhaled her floral scent deeply as he wanted to memorize it. "Maybe next time, we could come here to camp alone." He suggested by whispering into Jane's ear, he loved the thought of spending time here with only Jane.

He didn't mind Liam and Evie being there, but he would much prefer to have his mate all to himself. He smiled as he pressed his warm lips to Jane's cheek, "You're so beautiful." He whispered to her as the light from the fire was making her glow stunningly and he couldn't take his eyes away from her.

Evie leaned into Liam so they could cuddle even more, she smiled as she looked at him. "He can try but I'll protect you," She whispered to him as she wasn't going to let her dad do anything to Liam, she and Jane may be his little girls but they were grown up now and needed to start their own lives. She was a little disappointed that Jane seemed to have gotten Zayn on her own, Evie had been excited about trying to get them together even if Liam had told her to leave them alone. "Looks like Zayn is quite the romantic, maybe he could give you some suggestions." She teased him as she knew Liam could be romantic and would sweep her off her feet.

She honestly hadn't been expecting anything like this from Zayn, but he seemed to be wrapped around Jane's little finger. Evie was so happy that her sister finally found someone that had so much in common with her, hopefully now Zayn wouldn't hurt Jane or Evie would become a force to be reckoned with.

"That would be amazing," Jane said, though she knew her parents would never let her camp alone with Zayn if they knew it was just the two of them. They were still so protective of her and Evie. In her parents eyes, they were both still 12 years old and should think that boys had cooties.

Jane thought quite the opposite, though. She wanted to spend as much time with Zayn as she could, whether they had to be with Liam and Evie or not. She smiled as Zayn looked at her, blushing at his sweet compliment. She didn't know if she'd ever get used to hearing him say that.

Liam wasn't going to tell Evie that he could do the protecting all by himself. He thought it was cute that she thought she could protect him, though he hoped that they would have nothing to worry about. Liam followed Evie's gaze to where she was looking at Jane and Zayn. Liam still couldn't believe that his mate's sister was Zayn's mate, but he was happy that Zayn seemed so happy, and he knew that Zayn would do whatever it took to make Jane happy, just like he would do for Evie.

"Hey, I'm the one who taught Zayn everything he knows about being romantic," he said to Evie, nuzzling against her hair with his nose as he breathed into her ear. "I can be romantic."

Zayn smiled as he couldn't take his dark eyes away from Jane, "Then I'll make it happen. No matter what, I'll bring you camping." He promised her which wouldn't be hard for him to keep, he could take her away for a weekend if her parents allowed that to happen. He would probably have to convince Evie to join them, so their parents would feel better about their daughters being away for a couple of nights.

"I love making you blush," He whispered into Jane's ear before kissing the spot just below her ear lobe, the pink flush warmed up her beautiful face so well and it suited her incredibly well. It was something that he wanted to see more, which meant he'd need to compliment Jane constantly so she would get flushed.

Evie smiled as she felt Liam nuzzle into her hair, "I know you can. I was just teasing you, I love it when you get romantic." She smiled resting her hand on his thigh, to her it was innocent and hopefully it was something that wasn't in view of her sister or Zayn. It was a sweet moment between just her and Liam, although she was certain that Jane was way too occupied by Zayn to notice anything else.

She looked at Liam and moved against his body even more, "Shall we roast some marshmallows?" She asked him as she hadn't roasted marshmallows in a long time.
