Never Seen Before

Derek was singing along to the radio quietly as his thumbs drummed against the steering wheel he was holding onto. Him and his three friends were on the first hour of the road trip, and Derek, though he wouldn't admit it out loud, was already bored. They were on a stretch of interstate, trying to get out of Washington where they lived, and it didn't make for interesting scenery. "D'you think we'd see a bear or something if we went off the interstate and through some weird forest or something?" Derek asked, glancing sideways at Jess, who was in the passengers seat next to him.

Katie had the captains chair she was sitting in, behind Derek, leaning back as far as it could so she was lying down. They had taken her mom's old mini van, taken the bench seat in the back out, and taken it on the road trip. It made for a spacious ride, at least, with a lot of room for storing things behind where her and Brent were sitting. With a sigh, she sat up, and unbuckled her belt. She turned in her seat so her back was against the door, and she stretched out her legs so her feet were resting on Brent's knee. "Did we bring cards? I don't think I packed any..." Katie said, half to herself, half to Brent.

Jess ran a hand through her blonde hair. She had it up like always She had a tank top on and a button up red shirt. The sleeves came to her elbows. Her tattoo was in view very well. She liked it though. She yawned softly. She sighed and stretched her back popping. She heard Katie in the background, and heard Brent talking to her. She switched her green gaze to Derek. She shrugged and said, "Maybe. Although, they would probably keep bears in a more controlled forest." She laughed softly and said, "Why do you ask?" She had an amused smile on her red lips.

Brent yawned softly. He was tired. He didn't sleep well before they had left. He ran a hand through his own brown hair. He took a glace at Katie. He heard her and said, "I didn't pack any. Sorry Kay." He said. He shrugged. He then felt her feet on his knees, and chuckled. "What? Am I more comfortable than the seat?" He wondered aloud to her. He studied her gently, and then yawned popping his neck. He smirked softly as he did so.

"Might be more fun to be eaten by a wild bear than drive along this boring ass road," Derek said, laughing. He was obviously joking, but at that moment he wasn't so sure that he'd pick the car ride over the bear. "Want to check the GPS, see how much longer we got until we're in Idaho?" Once they were in Idaho, they were going to find a hotel and stay there for the night. There wasn't much to see there, so it was one of their 'stop over states' as Katie had been calling them. They were planning to at least drive through every continental state.

Katie chuckled, shrugging her shoulders. "I'd have to sit on you to really be able to tell, but I don't think I should do that in the moving van, do you?" She replied, raising her eyebrows. She crossed her arms over her chest, wiggling slightly to get more comfortable, though it wasn't really much use. "You probably do make a better seat than these things do, actually." She was pretty sure anything would be more comfortable than the seats in the van. The padding was thinning and it was pretty hard.

Jess raised an eyebrow at him. She then chuckled and said, "I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like to be eaten by a bear, Derek." She said. She raised an eyebrow at him. She heard him and said, "Yeah." She took the GPS and said, "About an hour left." She said. She sighed and then yawned. She poked his arm and kept poking his arm with her finger." Get annoyed." She smiled softly. She brushed back her yellow bangs and watched him. She raised an eyebrow as she watched him drive. She was tired. She then yawned again and curled up into a ball in the corner of her chair and soon she was out. She looked adorable asleep.

Brent raised an eyebrow at her. "Yeah, don't sit on me. Really and truly, in a van, I don't think you could sit on me." He said. He laughed lightly. He watched her as he raised an eyebrow. "I actually probably do, your point?" He said. He chuckled lightly and then stretched his back popping now. He looked up and noticed Jess was out and laughed. He then said, "Hey, Derek. I'mma use your jacket to cover Jess up." He said. He swung the jacket onto Jess's sleeping body.

"Yeah, go ahead," Derek said, glancing over his shoulder at Brent, giving him a nod. "How is it fair that she gets to sleep and I'm suck driving this piece of shit on wheels - sorry, Kate - into the next state. You two better not fall asleep on me too. I'll end up talking to myself." Derek at least wanted one person to stay awake with him for the next hour until they were parked in a hotel parking lot and had a room to sleep in and a McDonalds down the road to go eat at.

"My point is that these seats are awful," Katie said, shrugging again. When Brent moved to cover up Jess, Katie pulled her feet off him and curled them up onto her own chair. She looked at the back of Derek's head as he spoke, rolling her eyes with a small laugh. She reached sideways, as she wasn't facing the right way in the van, and patted his shoulder. "You talk to yourself anyways, Derek," she said, retracting her hand and putting it onto her knees.

Jess shivered lightly. She curled up into his jacket, and cuddled it to herself. She liked it. She felt warm and safe there. She mumbled something in her sleep. She heard Derek in the back of her mind, but ignored it. She would feel bad in the morning when she awoke. She looked small and fragile while asleep. She curled up completely under his jacket, letting it cover her completely.

Brent chuckled. He had completely forgotten her feet were on him. "Sorry Kay." He said. He pulled back after he was done. He heard Derek and raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm not sleeping anytime soon. You're stuck with me, bro. Kay's probably gonna pass out." He chuckled at Kate. He then snickered when she told Derek that he talked to himself anyways.

"Only for an hour, then I'm ditching your asses and going to McDonalds. Talking to myself the entire way there," Derek said, laughing. He pulled his hat off his head with his free hand and dropped it onto his lap. He shook his hand through his hair before returning his hat back to where it had been. He glanced at the clock. Five PM. By six, they'd be at a hotel, perfect for dinner time. "Are we getting two rooms or one, do you guys care?"

"Shut up, Brent," Katie said, giving his leg a little tap with her foot. She moved again so she was lying down on her chair once again and closed her eyes. She wasn't going to sleep, but she didn't really want to keep her eyes open anymore. "I don't really care, as long as I have somewhere to sleep that doesn't have bugs. If we end up somewhere with bugs, I'm sleeping in the car." She wasn't too picky. She'd share a bed with someone, after all, they were going to be together for a couple months. There wasn't much room for personal space.

"Shut up Derek." Jess groaned waking up. She then went to the other side of her chair and curled up again. "Mmmm." She muttered. She then said, "Brent, trade seats with me," She crawled back there and sat down in the middle and then moved a bit, still having Derek's jacket. She watched as Brent went into the passenger seat. She then curled up into a ball laying down this time. She slowly drifted back to sleep.

Brent raised an eyebrow at Katie and hit his chest and said, "Shot through the heart." He began and then grinned and laughed. He heard Jess and laughed at Derek. He switched seats with her getting into the passenger seat. "Looks like you're stuck with me." He said. He gave a chuckle and then said, "If we end up with bugs fuck it. No. I don't sleep with bugs. Sorry." he said. He ran a hand through his hair.

"Not my fault you fell asleep, Jess. I'm not gonna keep quite just because you want to nap prematurely." Derek looked sideways at Brent, then back forward towards the road. "So that didn't answer my question. One bed or two? Do I have to spoon with Brent in the night? Not that he'd mind. We all know he loves me." Derek glanced towards Brent again and gave him an exaggerated wink before looking forward to the VW Bug in front of him once more.

"I'm sure you won't have to spoon with Brent, regardless of how much the two of you would love to. We can just get one room to save on cost, though. We can figure out the bed situation when we get there. Maybe we can find a place with two beds and a pull out coach. Then me and Jess can share, because we're smaller, and then you guys can sleep alone." Katie, really, didn't care. Like she'd said before, as long as there was no bugs, it didn't matter.

Jess groaned and threw something at him, smacking him in the nose. She then curled back up her head falling into Kate's lap. She snuggled into her best friend and napped quietly there. She was happy just sleeping. She had a blanket over her this time for when she fell asleep. She knew that she probably shouldn't of thrown something at Derek but he pissed her off at that moment.

Brent raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm not spooning with you man. Tough love, bitch." He laughed softly. He then heard Kate and shrugged and said, "or you two could have the beds and I could sleep in my damn sleeping bag and Derek can do whatever." He said. "One room would be less expensive though, that's for sure." He sighed running a hand throughout his hair.
