While she spoke, her palm shied away, a touch of rrgognition igniting in her eyes like a gasoline fire. She leaned her head over the edge of the bed, avoiding his reaction.

(Sorry, my life has been a wreck. Between school and my cat dying... Things are a little hard.)

Max layed there for a moment, taking it all in. He didn't think she was a bad person, he thought she was brave; there were many times when he wished he had the guts to lash out at one of the orderlies. "Hey," he put a hand on her, trying to reel her back, "it's okay. I'm glad that you were able to get away from him." Max snuggled up closer to Delilah, pulling her into his embrace.

(My foster dog was euthanized on Friday. I'm so sorry, lovely. She had bladder cancer. So I kind of understand. When did this happen?)

Being towed back into his arms sent a tinder of alarm throughout her body, dropping her stomach. Once his voice soothed her ears, she melted like a scruffed kitten. (bad analogy, sorry, sorry)

"Me too." Delilah pushed her thumb into his lower lip, watching it pale and then redden with a tight grimace. She shimmied closer, ready to press their lips firmly together.

(Three days ago. I'm fine, mostly. It's hard even though I only had him for two and a half months. My grandma's dog choked him to death. She got rid of him.)

Max let her lips meet his, his arms wrapping around her to pull her closer. He needed the comfort of her warmth in this cold and darkened place.

There was a sound of banging against the wall behind their heads and Max froze into place, eyes widening. The screams of a man and a woman came from the other side.

(Oh, God. Oh my God. That is devastating. Things have been starting to get super rough for me too. I'm getting sick. I might go to urgent care in the morning. I am so sorry, lovely.)

As her leg draped over his lower body to deepen the kiss, gross yells cut off their embrace. Unwinding their parts, Delilah gathered her bag and dragged Max's along, waving him toward the window. "Go-" She puffed, gaze crazed and feral.

Max looked at her questioningly. "But we just paid for the rooms and everything. I'm sure if we just go for a walk when we come back they'll be quieted down. Or," he gestured towards the box television, "we could watch tv." He smiled at her, hoping for her agreement; he was tired and mostly just wanted to sleep.

"Stay here-" She griped between her teeth, releasing the bags to escape the room. She walked down the hallway and pounded on the neighbor's door. "Hello?" She yelled, impolitely loud and snarkingly infuriated.

Max never was very much of a listener, so when she stomped out of the room he only paused for a moment. He popped his head out of the doorway as someone flung the opposite door open and snarled, "what the hell do you want?"

Max couldn't get a good look from where he stood, but it looked like man holding sheets around his waist. Ew.

"Is she all right? Couldn't quite tell if that scream was of ecstasy or fear. Jus' fear from a woman to a woman." Waving her hand in a 'pshaw' gesture, she shied off, backing into Max.

The man stared at Delilah with an incredulous look and Max couldn't help but snicker. The man's eyes darted towards Max with a look of anger as his face flushed red.

"We'll just be going," Max tugged on Delilah's arm and pulled her back to the room, barely containing his laughter.

(I'm sorry that I've been such a bad responder. I've barely even thought of this site since I started school and I feel pretty bad about it. I've just barely managed to check up on my contests and that's about it. My spaciness will most likely continue for awhile. I have no idea how long it's going to last, so if that makes you not want to roleplay with me any longer I can understand that. Just know that you're not the only person I'm doing this to.)

Delilah craned her neck, twisting it playfully to press her mouth into his jaw, cradling it with her lips. She dipped herself back in his arms, body quaking with pleasant tremors from her ever-present laughter.

"I can't believe you just barged over there!" Max giggled uncontrollably on their motel room floor. The laughter lasted a long while before fading off into silent breathing. "I think I'm going to take a shower," the idea struck him so suddenly. "I bet this place has actual warm water and I can be in there for more than ten minutes!" He beamed at Delilah.

"Go soak it up." Delilah removed her face from its nuzzle against his neck gently, lower lip jutted as she dozed off in thought, her mind faraway.

(Aww. What should happen next?)

"Okay!" Max smiled at her, pecking her on the cheek, before dashing off into the bathroom. He left a trail of clothing as he went, he laughter filling out their room.

(I don't know, honestly. I've just been rolling with it.)

(Uhh. Do you want one of them to get caught? Kidnapped? Any ideas?)

(Sorry. IDEA - the couple from the other room could think Delilah was funny & invite them to a party, and they both end up getting high and possibly sleeping with other people/losing one another/I don't know.)

Max was enjoying the light brush of water on his skin when he heard a knock and Delilah's light voice. Instantly, he felt the need to finish his shower quickly; he didn't know who would be at the door and he didn't want to risk anything. He took the towel to his skin hastily and slipped into his clothes sloppily, heart pounding in his chest, before he slipped into the living room/bedroom area.

"Hey-" It was the screaming woman from before and her partner, leaned against the door frame with thin smiles.

"Me and my boyfriend are havin' a party in a little, if you and your boyfriend wanted to come that'd be hella cool." The girl chirped a mile a minute, eyes twinkling. She looked about nineteen, with mousy, flat brown hair and a movie star smile.

"Totally. Sure." Delilah gnawed absently on the back of her knuckle, feigning cool.

The door eased shut.

"What was that about?" Max asked as Delilah closed the door. The stammering of his heart hadn't stopped but it had slowed down.

His eyes trailed her carefully as he waited for her reply.
