"So you've known her for a while," Matt stated. "I just wish I could help without being an obstacle."

"You're doing fine so far," Athena reassured him. "You just need to take things slow with her just like I had to." The brunette gave Matt a reasuring smile and went back to eating her lunch. She had a class right after lunch so she needed to finish her food soon.

Matt nodded his head. "How long do you plan on keeping her?" he asked.

"At least a month," she replied. "That girl's bruises are probably just black from how bad that monster is. She needs to heal properly."

"She probably needs to see a doctor," Matt added. "If her bruises are that bad, she could be bleeding inside."

"I'll try to take her to the doctor this week but she really is a stubborn one Matt," Athena mumbled. "She lies to everyone including CPS because she thinks Caine being around is the only reason her mom hasn't killed herself yet."

"She needs to see a psychiatrist," Matt said. "She needs to know that it's not her fault, and she needs to be taken away from her mom, because clearly the woman isn't fit to be a parent."

Athena nodded. "I know she does," she mumbled. "She refuses to see anyone though. Last time I tried to she punched the doctor and almost got arrested because of it."

"You need to control her," Matt said. "She acts like an animal sometimes."

Athena frowned. "If you ever saw the bruises on her you'd understand why she acts on a primal level," she replied. "And she's not under my legal guardianship so I can only so much before her mom and Caine decided I can't be around her again."

"Yeah, but you're her teacher," Matt said. "Can't that at least mean something?"

"The fact that Prue trusts me enough to tell me what she has and I can actually comfort her is a big deal Matt," Athena answered. "Mentally Prue is the smartest kid I know but emotionally and socially she might as well be a little kid because of how far the beatings have made her regress."

"How long has her mother been together with him?" he asked.

"Caine has offically been around since she was eleven but I have a feeling that dirt bag has been around longer," Athena mumbled. "I actually have my suspicions that Mara, Prue's mom was cheating on her birth father with Caine."

"She's mentally eleven years old," Matt said. "God, that's terrible. I'll try to help the best I can."

Athena nodded. "She gets mostly a's in her classes so Prue's mind is good at absorbing book knowledge but if you put her in a room of people she'd probably sit alone or interact with ten year olds," she stated. "That's why every time she freaks out when she comes to she apologizing for breaking as if she's some vase or plate and not a kid who's acting out because the people that should care the most about her are pieces of shit."

Prue finished her lunch early and knocked on the teacher's longue door. She wanted to just sit with Ms. P until lunch was over. A math teacher, let Prue into the longue after she made sure no one else saw and lead the blonde teen over to Athena. Prue instantly sat down next to the brunette and clung to her side. "Hey Prue," Athena smiled. "Matt and I are talking about some private things. Will you be okay if I give you my Poe book to read over there on that comfy chair?"

The blonde pouted but nodded. Why was Athena talking to Mr. Sanders so much? Did the brunette like him or something? She took the book when Athena handed it to her, glaring at Matt before she sat across the room where she was told to. Athena looked over at Prue and sighed softly. "When she gets like this she doesn't like sharing my attention," the older woman explained.

"I can understand that," Matt said. "I better get back to class anyways, I need to start writing those plans up for you."

Athena nodded. "Alright," she mumbled. "I'll remind Prue after school again about going with you but she'll probably try to be difficult so of you can't find her five minutes after school is over drive to your place and look around for her."

Matt nodded his head. "Thanks, Athena," he said.

Athena smiled. "Thank you Matt."
