Love and Vengeance

I nodded. "It would, if you know how to grow it. That's part of the reason Robert isn't a farmer. He's terrible at it. But you can buy food as long as you how to bargain. So you shouldn't think you're forced to be a farmer. But maybe you'll be good at it."

I heard the door open and close, hearing Robert's foot steps and the giggles of a woman head towards his room. I was used to it, this was his way of entrainment when bored.

It has been a little under a month since she and her brother had arrived, she was mending a shirt when Robert walked out of his room without a shirt on, "You're a pig," she muttered as she looked at him as she bit the thread to cut it.

He smiled at her as he went to get something to drink. "And to what do I owe the pleasure of such a compliment?" He asked, leaning against the counter as he drank.

I smiled a little as I went to check on Ryley. "Hi," I said, knocking on the door. "Do you want to go for a walk? You've been trapped in bed, and you need to start walking again."

"I bet you can't even be decent enough to keep your bedroom empty for the duration of our stay because you're a dog who doesn't know control who doesn't know when his manners should be used," she said to him as she set her sewing down.

He looked ath er,"Can I really?" he asked her lightly,"Constance is a such a pain sometimes,"

I nodded and went over to help him up. "How so? She cares about you, that's all."

He grinned at her. "How empty? Though I don't see why I should, when I can have a different women to spend the night with each night."

"You're sick you're going catch the plague you keep it up this way," she told him as she continued to sew up the hem of her dress since it was too long for her.

"I know, but she is over protective. I'm supposed to protect her not the other way around," he told her.

I smiled. "You're her little brother. You can't blame her." I said as we walked out to the back door. "How's your leg feeling?"

He shrugged and finished the rest of his drink. "Haven't caught it yet, so I think I'm in the clear." He smiled at her.

He sighed,"It feels alright, still sore," he told her lightly as he tried to stand.

She rolled her eyes,"I bet you can't keep a woman out of your bed til we're on our own," she said to him snorting.

He smirked. "Do you count?" He asked, staring into her eyes.

I nodded a little as I stood next to him to support him if he needed it. "Can you walk on your own?"

She scoffed and set her things down and slapping him, "Well I never," she said to him seriously as she glared at him, "I'm far too good to be a woman in your sheets," she said to him.

He nodded,"Yeah I think so,"

I nodded a little and stepped back, holding the door open as we walked outside. "If you don't mind me asking, If you never wanted to be king, what did you want?"

He stared at her for a second and laughed, surprised by her boldness. "That's what they all say at first." He teased. "You're no better than the rest of them."

She scoffed,"Oh please, I'm much better than some bar whore who willingly opens her legs for any man, I'll have you know you will never be in my sheets and I will never be in yours," she told him as she looked at him glaring.

"I just wanted to be free," he told her, "Constance was less free than me but my schedule was tied up with all sorts of classes a prince should know," he told her,"I wanted to have time to figure myself out."

He grinned. "Don't be so sure, Princess. I happen to be quite the catch. Its a privilege to say you've spent the night with me." He said as he watched her.

I smiled a little. "And now that you're free, have you decided what it is you want with your life?" I asked as we walked slowly since he could barely walk without a limp.

She scoffed as she looked at him,"A privilige to say you caught an illness from the source I'm sure," she said and walked off.

"No, I don't know," he told her lightly.

I nodded. "Well, you have time. You can do whatever you'd like, may it be farming, or just having a family." I said with a smile.

He smirked after her, watching her leave. "Maybe what you need is an actual fun night. It might help you stop being so tense all the time."

She rolled her eyes,"I don't need your kind of fun, I'm happy with the way things are right now. Soon we'll be out of your hair," she told him as she finished hemming her skirts.

He nodded,"Maybe," he said to her,"But I don't want a family yet, I'm not prepared for it," he told her.

"I don't think you're ever really ready for a family. I think in the end, you just find someone willing enough to feel around in the dark with you and figure it out along the way." I said with a shrug.

He smiled a little. "But I was just getting used to you guys," He sighed, rubbing his face. "All good things must come to an end, and i know you'll miss us." He grinned, going to sit at the table.

"You wish I'd miss you," she said to him snorting as she finished up that dress then smiled a little,"There," she murmured softly.

"Is thats all thats important?What about love?" he asked her.

I shook my head. "Of course love is important. It's why the person is so willing to do something they've never done. They love and trust you, knowing that you love and trust them, so then the two of you can figure it out together. It's all about love. Otherwise it wouldn't work." I said with a nod.

He stared at her for a second. "While you're at it, can you fix some of my shirts? You'll need to know how to do it in order to be a good wife." He said as he watched her to see her reaction.

She froze in her spot then closed her eyes,"mend your own shirts," she told him and scowled as she looked at him.
