    "Can I hold him," she asked. The nurse nodded and carefully handed her the baby. Addy ran her hands over his face, caressing it as she cried quietly. "Would he have felt any pain," she asked. The nurse shook her head. "The nerves in his body hadn't formed yet so no he didn't." Addy stared at her baby, leaning forward and gingerly pressing a kiss to his forehead.

    Brian nodded his head. "Alright," he said. "I'll let your mom know." He kissed the top of her head and looked up at the nurse. "I'm gonna go find her mom. Could you bring her back to her room when she's ready?" The nurse nodded her head and Brian took off to find Michelle.
