Is anyone a fan of Star Trek?
What are your thoughts on it?
Anything you would have added to the various shows?

I LOVE STAR TREK OMGYES XD

So far I've watched all of TOS, TAS, TNG and all the movies except the last 2 TNG movies.

I've watched a little bit of DS9, VOY, and ENT but I'm still working on those shows. It is a lot of material to watch, certainly.

Currently my favorite is TOS, but I suppose that's always subject to change when I watch more in the 3 series I haven't seen as much. Although that is certainly hard to imagine considering how much I love TOS In Love

I think it is a brilliant franchise with really amazing ideologies within the stories.

I just wish there had been openly canonically queer characters in at least one of the series. And that Jonathan Frakes had gotten his way and a male actor had been cast as Soren in 5x17 The Outcast rather than a female one.

    Wasn't there in Voyager, though?
I've mostly just seen TOS, so obviously it's my favorite; my grandpa introduced me to Star Trek a few years ago because he needed someone to fangirl with. I don't know whether just to re-watch TOS or start on a different series probably voy.

I may be wrong because I haven't gotten that far into Voyager or anything, but I thought the closest we get to LGBT representation in the official Trek canon shows so far is the DS9 Mirror-verse episode where mirror!Kira and mirror!Jax are in a relationship and are shown kissing. But of course there are issues even with this, considering the idea that in general mirror is seen as the "bad/evil" verse and it brings up the same sort of controversy over stereotyping along the lines of queercoding villains. But I haven't watched that far or seen the episode so I'm not sure how it's played out, that's just what I heard.

I've personally been trying to go in order but my parents favorite series in Voyager, so I would say if that series in particular interests you a lot you should go for it :) Next Generation is really good too and I would recommend that as well but I can't really speak yet for DS9 and Enterprise as I'm not really far enough in either to have an opinion.
