He ignored her, forcing himself not to laugh at her antics. The contaminated earth was no place for a girl like her to try and prove that she was just as good as any man. They didn't need just as good. They needed better.

His lack of a straight answer worried her, and panic rose in her throat that she had to convince herself wasn't her last meal. "Okay." She maneuvered herself so that she was supporting most of her friend's weight and waited for instructions.

Feeling completely frustrated with the whole entire situation, she went to go consult her best friend at the camp, Sarah. "How could possibly believe something like that?!" She exclaimed while Sarah just nodded in agreement. "Don't worry about, Heck. Everyone knows that he's just trying to rile you up." Sarah attempted to wave off Christina's anger towards him. For Sarah, she always sensed that there was something between Nathaniel and Christina, but Christina didn't want to hear it or believe it.

"Follow me." He ordered while readjusting his grip on her friend so it was securely around her waist. Moving off towards the south, Ryland started back towards his village and glanced over at the girl. He didn't believe that she was going to make it, but he would do everything in his power to save her. Ryland paused at the entrance to his village in hiding, knowing that his people wouldn't be so welcoming of the outsiders. "Stay here while I get the supplies."

He strode out a few minutes later to give the new bow to the boy, patting him on the shoulder and sending him off with a grin. "Up for a hunt, Heck?" He accepted the invitation with a nod, retreating to grab a weapon.

The blonde nodded, watching him walk away and becoming conscious of how heavy her friend was becoming. "Bryleigh, you can't give up that easily. Come on..." She adjusted her grip and waited impatiently for the man to return, unease creeping up her spine.

After about another hour of calming herself down, Christina knew that she couldn't sit around and mope about. There were people who needed her help. She left her tent to go around and look, finding that Heck had left. Giving a an eyeroll to his absence, she went towards medical to take care of the injured.

Going inside of his house, he found a myriad of herbs to help with the pain and the poisoning. He put them together inside of a bowl then ground up the herbs, hoping that he would be able to make it back on time. Ryland rushed back to the entrance and peaked his head around before hearing his name being called out. "Ryland, where have you been? Did you bring the herbs for our people?" His commander asked in their native tongue. Going inside of his pocket, he dropped the vial of the antidote, remembering he had left the herbs where he met the girls. "I could not find anything, sir, I apologize. I wanted to grab something from my quarters and return to searching." He explained, wondering if the man bought it. "See to it then." The man stated then turned on his heel to go back inside of the village. Moving on, Ryland waited for his commander to disappear before going to the two girls. "Take this." He instructed while rummaging around his pocket to find the vial of medicine.

Whenever someone asked about Christina, he simply shrugged, like he hadn't a clue why the girl was so angry. As far as the guys he was with knew, she was a bratty girl that couldn't stand not getting her way, and it worked in his favor.

The blonde took what she'd been given and held it up to her friends' lips, panic growing when her lips wouldn't part without being coaxed by her own two fingers. "She's not conscious. She's not conscious!" She started cursing, putting the container down once she was done and holding back a scream. "She can't be dying. I'm not supposed to let that happen." Anger blurred her vision.

While attending to those in need at medical, she tossed around Nathaniel's name, wanting to see if his allegations were true. Most of the workers merely look at each other before muttering that he was kind of a know-it-all and egotistical. Christina couldn't help but nod in agreement with them, explaining the situation. Her fellow comrades were appalled by the way he had spoken to their beloved leader. There was no way that someone like Heck could ever be considered a leader to them, clearly it was Christina already.

"Panicking will not help." Ryland stated while leaning over to pour the vial into the girl's mouth. Parting her lips with his thumb, he slid the cure inside, hoping it wasn't too late. "The only thing that you can do now is have hope that your friend will pull through." He explained, knowing that the medicine could only work so fast on a dying life. Glancing over at the blonde, he noticed that she had some scrapes and cuts as well. "Did your wounds come into contact with your friend's injuries?" He questioned since it would be a problem if she had. The poison would be unknowingly spreading throughout her body.

He didn't care what the girl and her little friends thought of him, because they only comprised maybe one sixth of the entire group. Even those who hardly knew him would probaby choose him over her, just based on appearances and the general way they carried themselves.

The girl bit her lip to keep from crying when he told her all there was left to do was hope, because even though he was a grounder, it probably meant he thought her friend wouldn't make it. He asked if her cuts had come into contact with Bryleigh's, and she glanced down at them, shrugging. "I don't know. Maybe. I don't know, why?"

The day soon turned to night with everyone working to gather supplies or aid the wounded. Christina was exhausted after she had stitched up a girl's leg and performed two surgeries. There was still more to be done though. She was the last person inside of the medical tent when she finished up with her duties.

"Because the poison can transfer systems through blood." He did not even know how much time she had left. Looking down at the vial, there was some left. Maybe it would be enough for the blonde. "Take this. Better safe than sorry." Ryland passed over the vial of the antidote. "There is nothing else we can do for your friend. You have to save yourself."

Nathaniel eventually wandered over to the medical tent after dark to glance inside, and saw only his rival remaining. "Everyone recovering alright from their injuries?" They must've been, because there was no chaos ensuing.

"What do you mean there's nothing else we can do? Are you trying to say she'll die? You don't understand. She can't die. Don't let her die." The girl took the vial but didn't drink, her hands flying to his shoulders to shake him desperately.

Finishing up with the cleaning of the medical supplies, Christina heard the rustling behind her and turned to glance over her shoulder. "Yes, everyone is alright. We are running out of supplies though. You wouldn't have come across any while you were out?" She questioned but doubted that he had. Medical supplies were one of the hardest things to come by while scavenging.

Ryland could see the pain in her eyes at the possibility of losing her friend. "Yes, the dose your friend has already received is all it can do to help her. You must take the rest to save yourself. If not, you can both die." Placing his hand on the vial, he urged her to take what was left of it. "This is your chance for survival."

"No. You know better than I do, I imagine, where to find them. But I've got time to go for a walk and look for some, if you've the time and the energy." It was an offer that sprinkled in a sort of flattery that he knew she fed on.

The girl watched him for a while, her mouth open and her brows furrowed. After a while, though, she tipped the vial back and swallowed it, closing her eyes. "How do I know this won't kill me? What if this is the reason she's not conscious?"

Perking up at the offer, she was a tad uneasy about leaving the camp. Christina was the expert when it came to the medical field and if something happened while she was gone.. At the same time, they would not have enough supplies to do anything effective anyway. "Okay, Heck. Let me go grab from stuff back at my tent." She dropped the cloth from her hands onto the table while turning on her heel.

With the vial now empty, he took it back from her hands to slip it back into his pocket. Ryland would have to go back to find more herbs soon, otherwise his superiors would come looking. "I already explained that I have no need to harm either of you." Standing up from his place, he glanced back at his village. "You need to leave with you friend while she gets some rest. My people can find you here." Ryland looked back down at the blonde, knowing that there was nothing else he could do for them.
