We've Been Through so Much Together

Lara put on a forced smile. Between studying and all the activities that her parent made her do up until their deaths she had never been good with big groups like this. Most people weren't interested in archeology and raiding tombs unless they were trying to get in her pants. But she would try to have fun. Rick walked up and looked Sam and Lara. "Lara! Sam!" he slurred as he gave both of them a giant hug. Lara smiled a little as she hugged back. "Sam, would you be a darling and go get us some whiskey?" he asked.

"This is your party, Rick." She said, faking annoyance, her smile giving it away. "But, fine. Take care of Lara. Lara, have fun, okay?" Sam went to grab the drinks, sneaking glances at Rick and Lara every now and then. She trusted Rick, sure, but not with Lara. Lara was attractive, and Sam knew Rick's ultimate weakness was attractive girls. It's one of the reasons they broke up so much.

Lara knew Rick was wasted at this point. In order to properly enjoy his company she would also have to get drunk as well. Put enough people in a room and get them all hammered enough and they will all get along to some degree. Lara was thankful that Rick had at least guessed her favorite type of hard liquor. She never did understand the point of flavored vodkas when she could have a stiff pull of a good whiskey burn.

Sam came back over with the drinks, smiling. "Here you go!" She said, handing them to her friends. Rick slipped an arm around her waist and grinned. Sam thought about whether this was the right night to hook up, but decided against it. "Sorry, Rick," she said, moving closer to Lara. "But it's all about my girl Lara tonight." As Rick walked away, Sam turned to Lara and took gulps of her drink.

Lara smirked for a bit. She wasn't quite ready to deal with Rick yet but she still was a little sad to see him go. "But Sam, maybe I wanted to sleep with Rick tonight." she joked as she took a small sip of whiskey.

"Ha! You say that now, but I'll find you someone much better." Sam grabbed Lara's wrist and led her closer to the other dancers. "Come on, let loose a little." Sam started to move her hips to the music, taking small sips of her drink now and then.

Lara tried to let loose and walked out to the dance store and started dancing with Sam. Lara was having a great time dancing with her when she felt a guy come up behind her and start to dance with her. She resisted the urge to deck him in the face out of instinct and started to dance along with him. Her sips of whiskey started to become large gulps. After a while she started to become slightly tipsy. If there was one thing grueling hours studying taught her to do it was hold her liquor.

Sam watched Lara dance with a smile. If her best friend really was going to leave for a while, Sam wanted to see her happy. If dancing with random guys while drinking whiskey helped, then so be it. She started to drink more, still moving to the music. After a while, Sam started to sway a little too clumsily. No matter how much partying she did, it never took her long to get drunk.

Lara was dancing with some random guy. After a while the two stopped dancing for a while and walked over to the drink table. They talked for a little while longer while Lara poured another scotch, neat. After a little bit longer the guy recommended that they go off to talk in private. Lara more or less gone at this point nodded and start to walk to the back where some rooms were so they could be there in private.

Sam watched as Lara was led to one of the rooms, a worried pang in her chest. Admittedly, Sam didn't think it was very safe. She started to stumble through the crowd, until she felt someone grab her hand. She turned to see Rick, grinning at her. "Hey, Sam. Looks like your friend is gone." Sam could smell the alcohol in his breath and crinkled her nose slightly. "Yeah, looks like... Rick, I'm just not in the mood for you right now." She mumbled, looking away. "Yeah, maybe because you're in the mood for Lara." Rick shot back with a smirk. Sam looked at him in surprise. "Don't be stupid. I just want to make sure she's okay, that doesn't mean I want to sleep with her or anything." Rick raised an eyebrow at her defensive response.

Lara and the guy she was with had been talking. For about five seconds before they started furiously making out. Lara realized she hadn't gotten laid in months and this was what she needed to relieve some of the stress that had been building up. Clothes were being ripped off with a ferocity that was animal. His hand started to creep up her leg and she jolted as she flashed back to the island. She looked up at him and started to pull away. "I'm sorry. But not now." she told him as she started to put her clothes back on.

Sam watched as Lara walked out of the room, and her panic started to ease. She's okay, Sam thought with relief. "Is she okay?" Rick asked before taking another swig of his beer. "I don't know. Hang on," Sam said as she started to walk over. "Lara, is everything okay? Don't want to fool around tonight?"
