Elara Ross jumped as she was addressed by none other than her Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. Her mind had been elsewhere- with her NEWT classes, Prefect duties, thoughts of her future and her family on the line, she wasn't all here this morning. Poor Headmistress McGonnagal had had to deal with her ponderings and airheadedness more than usual, and with the way she was stuck on these matters, that didn't seem to be changing anytime soon.

"Professor Sun Mae!" Elara yipped excitedly, giving a wicked grin back to her Head of House. "Oh, most definetly! Those snakes won't know what hit them! THEY'RE GOING DOWN!" Elara mimicked a broom going downwards with her arm, imitating an explosive sound as it 'crashed.' She couldn't help the chuckles that left her throat as she grabbed her bag and held it in front of her, her face suddenly growing scarlet red as she realized it was Professor Adler who was besides her beloved Head of House.

"O-oh! Professor Adler, I meant no offense, of course! I'm sure your students will give us a horrible run for our money! We haven't been practicing hard for nothing, after all. We all know your team is one of the most competitive and challenging to go up against."

The fifth year blabbered on, unable to stop herself as she mumbled and stuttered her way into a long winded compliment for her opposing team. She looked to Professor Sun Mae, eyes wide and an awkward grin on her face.

"Forgive me, I seem to be really scatter brained this morning." she finally managed to state, much more calmly, after a long pause. "I, uh- I hope you're both well today! Do you need any help with anything?"

    Professor Song Sun-Mae
Sun-Mae tried not to gush too much as one of her favorite children continued on in her adorably hufflepuff style ranting.

"Oh don't worry about Professor Adler my dear, she knows there can be only one!" Sun-Mae giggled behind her hands as she gave her friend a slight nudge with her own shoulder, her eyes furrowing as she watched her best friend shoot her back a dirty look before shuffling her papers.

    Professor Hestia Adler
Hestia tried to smile politely as Elara Ross, babbled on in a familiar manner. She'd been with Sun-Mae since their awkward first year (both in Slytherin, not that either of them liked to dwell on that school term much, unless to gossip about spotting the Famous Harry Potter, or about how dashing Neville had looked with the Sword of Godric Gryffindor) so she was used to the Hufflepuff type. Bubbly? That was a nice way to put it...

The Slytherin fixed her stack of papers, wobbling slightly as she adjusted one foot to the other. Her hand going beneath her robes to adjust her long boots, something she'd fancied before the start of term in a thrift shop off Diagon Alley. Pulling her robe back into place over her casual dress. Saturday was supposed to be a relaxing time, where all the students dressed down and even the teachers were not required to wear their usual garb, part of integrating more muggle practices into the school to foster harmony. She still felt overwhelmingly uncomfortable about the whole thing, (when had she ever seen Mcgonagall or Hooch for that matter, in a summer dress?) but she was new, and new meant that she had to try and fit in, and even if she didn't exactly want to be in public in something other than black, if it was important to model this behavior for her first years, she was going to do it.

Perhaps they would stop referring to her children as snakes if they wore more pink?

So Hestia screwed on the sweetest smile she could (for her students sake more than her own) and attempted to laugh. "It's fine, honestly Acamar's head is getting a little big, we should be good but you should get back to uh resting for your big day tomorrow, you're going to need the energy," She smiled nodding to the girl the last part of her statement coming out more threatening than she had intended.

    Professor Song Sun-Mae
Sun-Mae kept her face clear of concern as she heard the fakeness seep into her best friend's tone. Hestia was good at hiding it, but Sun-Mae could still tell that there was drippings of disdain hidden behind her smile and laugh. The urge to protect her perfect little bumblebee from Hestia's sarcasm contradicting with her need to also assure Hestia that she was allowed to be lighthearted sometimes.

She knew it was the Snake comment. Totally innocent from Elara's standpoint but an equally sharp edge for Hestia who'd heard the word spit at her a thousand times before in a not so jovial manner. Somehow the word although the house mascot did not sit well with the professor, but being called a Badger was not the same as being called a Snake.

Being a Slytherin had not been so good in their school years, and it had finally started becoming almost normal now, these new students having a far enough gap from the war not to be too cynical about everything. Tensions still held but they hadn't lived it, and the school was doing a decent enough job of rooting out the flagrant class system and blood-purity issues that had plagued it before. Still with one word she could see her stoic friend bury into herself again, irritatingly shutting down this genuine moment they were having with one of their students.

Sun-Mae wanted nothing more than to enjoy this excitement her child was throwing at them, really soak it in and go celebrate with her. (Because Hufflepuff was going to win obviously). Instead she gave the girl a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder, shooting her a proud little smile as she nodded no.

"We're actually on our way back to our rooms at the moment; anyways you should be enjoying the day! The sun is simply glorious and I hear a lot of the students are going down to swim in the lake, might be the last chance you get before it gets too cold," she smiled wishing she too could go swimming, but somehow she felt that might cross a line in the teacher-student manual.

Truthfully, Elara was oblivious to her Slytherin teacher's discomfort and cynicism. The sudden thought of quidditch brought up a slew of other concerns she had been putting off- her broom needed to be cleaned and polished, checked and taken on a practice run once more before the match. She needed to make sure her lucky pendant was still in her sutcase! Oh, and she most definitely had to remind Sally Sockerson to make sure she knew the game plan should Richards actually be down with the flu.

Luckily their Captain was one of the best, and had prepared for any sudden cases of the flu. Sure, Briar and Lestrange were fine enough Captains, but Everette? Ho boy, the other teams wouldn't know what hit them! Elara was sure that her Captain would be a future professional Quidditch player- not even a seventh year and already they were one of the most promising up and coming stars.

"If you're sure! I wouldn't mind, though now that you mention it, I do have some things I have to check in on, and all those exams to study for!" A pained look crossed the sixteen year old face as she contemplated this, though truthfully she was actually a bit ahead of the game. Half her papers were nearly done, after all. A small break wouldn't hurt.

"I suppose I should really get down to business and finish those- the sooner the better, right? But...I do like to swim..."

Elara sighed, chuckling as she thought about swimming in that lake. It was probably already teeming with people around it. "Maybe a simple walk around there would be enough. I'll definitely take advantage of that nice weather though, professor Sun Mae! It was wonderful talking to you both!"

Neville cheerfully organized the folders on his desk in a half-hazard but respectable pile, Briar Andrews' wide open for all to see in the middle of his work table. He was currently oblivious to the slight scowl on the boys face, as the seventh year stared dogmatically at the file before him. A big EE for Exceeds Expectations stared back at the blonde haired boy, as it was his Herbology grade that stood atop the stack of papers that represented everything you needed to know academically about the future Prime Minister of Magic.

Yes, Neville couldn't have known how highly affronting this was for the boy. Truthfully, it was a very good grade! One Neville was proud of him for getting. After all, it was called exceeds expectations for a reason. Initially Briar had been intended for an Acceptable, but the boy did put in his effort and tried. Neville had just finished telling him how wonderful his grades were- everything looked to be on the right track, and Neville had never seen such promise regarding the N.E.W.T. exams since, well, Hermione Granger.

He also hadn't seen someone who put so much on their plate since Hermione Granger.

"Right, well, Mr. Andrews. I hope to see you keep this record up- you're well on your way to meeting your goal. However, I worry you may burn yourself out. Please do take care not to overwork yourself too highly! I know you were upset at first, but truly, all of your grades are perfectly well earned and you've been doing well! I have the utmost certainty you will do well on all of your NEWT exams. If you'd like any other assistance, I'd be more than happy to do what I can. Just be sure not to fall behind."

    Briar Andrews
A few choice muggle swear words drifted through the seventh year's head as he put down his teacup a little too hard on the delicate saucer. The light brown liquid loaded with cream, sugar, and even honey, sloshed onto the little china plate. Exceeds Expectations? Was this a joke? It had to be a joke. Or, at least a lapse in judgement from his Head of House. Professor Longbottom couldn't be serious.

"That paper on Venomous Tentacula was perfect; I backed up my resources. I've looked at your comments and I seriously disagree with the recommended temperature note you left, if that was enough to take away two points then I want to see where you got that from, because the book I checked out in the restricted section on venomous plants clearly stated that it needed to be at least five degrees lower than the temperature that you put in the note section," Briar argued, irritation clearly present on his brows as he pushed his paper back towards his professor.

Neville Longbottom was ignorant to his seventh year Gryffindor's temper, only frowning as he shook his head and stood up to make his way to a drawer by his desk. Opening it, he pulled out the assigned Herbology textbook for Briar's class, flitting through the pages until he stopped at the desired one.

"Yes, well, unfortunately the restricted section is sometimes at risk for having slightly outdated information, Briar. If you'll remember, I did warn in the beginning of the school year that all information in our class textbook is what herbologists agree upon as of this year and should be used as a leading authority when cross checking your facts from other sources. As you can see, on page 79, chapter titled A Bite Out Deadly Beauty, the correct temperature to store them at is placed right in the second paragraph in bold."

He held the textbook out for Briar to see and read, giving him an apologetic grimace. Sure enough, Neville's words rang true. "If you had stored a Venomous Tentacula in the temperature you suggested, well, I'm afraid the poor thing would have had a very violent, dangerous outburst out of desperation, and then would have died. Temperamental and surprisingly delicate plants they are, as you remembered to point out! So i'm afraid those marks will have to stand as they are, Mr. Andrews."

    Professor Hestia Adler
Hestia's frown returned as Miss Ross left, her eyes watching the girl carefully as she made her way down the old castle hallway, waiting until she was safely out of ear shot to look at her best friend with irritation. "This outfit is ridiculous! What's next? Hmmh... jeans perhaps?" she hissed adjusting her large stack of papers while ignoring the obvious reason why she was really angry.

"Elara didn't mean any harm," Sun-Mae snorted at the snippy Slytherin a small smile gracing her lips as she fixed her hijab. Her long fingers running softly through the silk material.

"I didn't say anything about the lass," Hestia outwardly pouted her eyes brewing as her pink lips pressed together in irritation.

"Didn't have to," Sun-Mae laughed, shaking her head as she gave her fellow teacher a soft pat on the shoulder.

"Honestly, I just want to get back into my bedrobes and sip some tea, until my rounds tonight. I have too much grading to do today." Hestia admitted bitterly.

"Maybe a certain professor can lift your spirits, his office is right here after all, we should see if he's in," Sun Mae giggled shocking her friend as she made an attempt to open the nearby office door. A sudden blush rising to the Slytherin's cheeks as she tried to hurrily deture the Hufflepuff. Her fingers trying to keep the pile from tipping as her foot caught against the hard marble floor.

Her black heel catching in the molding sending the surprised professor flying forward in surprise. Parchment went flying in every direction as the young witch went slamming to the floor. Her eyes watering with pain as her knees made contact against the rough surface. Her skin stinging as blood rushed to the surface of her skinned knees and palms. Pain rippled down her leg to her ankle which throbbed with a troubling consistency. A sob of pain escaping from her lips as she went to stifle the bleeding, her hands coming back red.

"What in god's name was that?!"

Neville jumped from his seat, storming past Briar as he flung his door wide open, looking around for the source of the loud crash. Crumpled, on hands and knees, was Madam Adler, with a frantic Sun-Mae fretting over her. Neville couldn't help the hiss that escaped his lips as he took stock of her injuries, the red on the tile not exactly a pleasing sign.

"Mr. Andrews, please make your way to Madam Pomfrey at once! It seems Miss Adler has quite a nasty fall," Neville ordered, kneeling down on one knee to get on the same level with the fallen Slytherin instructor. He offered his arm, something with which she could hopefully support herself.

"Are you able to stand? You can sit in my study while we wait for Madam Pomfrey to come down, Miss Adler," Neville smiled, grimacing as he looked down at her still bleeding knees. She really had scraped them up quite badly.

"That does looks quite painful, here, lets get some gauze on that- Accio First Aid!"

    Professor Hestia Adler
In a moment of weakness, Hestia's face displayed utter mortification as the ruggedly handsome Gryffindor came to her rescue, her usually pale cheeks turning a rosy pink before she was able to push past her embarrassment.

"I told the headmistress these muggle clothes are simply not practical..." She muttered distastefully more to herself than to either teacher, her eyes widening as she quickly pulled the silky dress lower. The material having rested farther up her thighs than she would have found socially acceptable, hopefully Andrews had not noticed, even if it was obvious that Neville had. Hestia felt mortified, her hands quickly going to her hair to pull the thick wave of blonde strands from her face, her magically bandaged hands catching strands between the folds.

"Boggart!" She hissed pain seeping through her words as she tried to push up from the floor, her palms stinging painfully as she did so, even through the gauze. Pushing past her pain she tried to stand again ignoring the offered help from her friend and Neville only for her to clumsily fall back to the floor like a spitting cat as her ankle gave out and her body stung from the cuts. "Ridiculous, Simply Ridiculous!"

"Honestly Hestia, just let him help you," Sun-Mae sighed her frown reaching as she looked around making sure there weren't any wide eyed first years watching, they were such delicate creatures, and there wasn't a doubt that any of Hestia's children would be upset by this situation. "Wingardium Leviosa," Sun-Mae commanded pointing at the fallen parchment her eyes focusing as she willed them to fly into the air and restack accordingly.

"Miss Adler, please! Neville exclaimed, exasperated as he gently grabbed Hestia's arm, bringing it close to his chest as he prepared himself to get up, supporting the Slytherin professor as he assisted her in standing. He was ever so mindful to make sure her weight was off the damaged ankle, but the more she fussed and went on and on about how she was fine, and could support herself.... well, the more he wanting to hear less of it.

"You should listen to Professor Sun - Mae, Madam Adler. With the cursing spree you just had I was that the impression you were trying to fight off an actual Bogart, not trying to stand up! Here, this will be much- ah, much quicker."

Neville huffed as he quickly swept the woman off her feet, lest she had time to react. For a moment, a small moment, he hesitated. This was the most familiar conduct he'd had with the Slytherin Headmistress, hell, outside of school discussions he hadn't much talked to the woman- and for good reason. (It wasn't decent of a man to familiarize himself with a woman he knew he could grow fond of when he was otherwise engaged, after all. But.... that wasn't too much of a concern these days. )

No, the opportunity to talk to Miss Adler rarely presented itself. So this sudden happenstance was a rather remarkable turn of events

. "Here, yes, there we go." Nevel placed Hestia atop his desk, in one of the few clutter-less spaces he had available. "How are your knee wounds feeling now?" he inquired, hand respectfully distance from her skin as he looked at her face to make sure it was okay for him to investigate the wound.

    Margo

"Oh my gosh Reeve, that was amazing! King and you are sooooo improving, they're going to have to let you on the team!" Miranda sang her long arms wrapping around the sweaty boy's neck as she practically jumped him the moment he landed his broom.

"I suppose you're correct Miranda; They'll have to add him after this year's class graduates," Margo offered less than impressed. They wouldn't be training him if they didn't plan on putting him in the game once the seventh years left. It would have been a waste of time. Margo didn't want to disappoint her sister, but King was most certainly better. "You should watch your broom fluctuation it was getting sloppy," Margo offered crossing her arms against her waist her eyes watching Reeve's glimmering smile falter for a glorious moment before his regular smirk returned.

"So you were paying attention?" He chirped, content with her admission.

"Of course she was! We all were!" Miranda gushed, looking at her sister's expressionless face before continuing with a blissful smile on her lips, "Anwen even complimented you," she beamed nodding towards the angley girl who was crowded around Acamar LeStrange and Calista Tran with their other friends and a hodgepodge of other teenagers.

"Hmmh, Anwen complimented me? Now that is a cause for celebration," Reeve laughed his arm sliding over Miranda's shoulder finally, as if appeased by her flattery at last. A wicked grin falling upon his lips as he gave the enthusiastic girl a quick kiss on the cheek. "If I want to keep impressing your friends Margo, I suppose you'll have to give me a few more lessons, as you said I was sloppy on my broom and that sounds simply dreadful," he paused raising a brow at the quietly fuming girl. His hand reaching forward to playfully forcefully pull her forward, his lips crushing against hers.

In Margo's opinion the kiss lasted dreadfully too long, it wasn't something sweet, or innocent, or even lusty. It was more of a reminder, she was his girlfriend, this is what they did and everyone-Everyone was going to know it. It was best to let him think he was winning, usually he was more... Cunning about his attempts, expensive gifts, acts of unnecessary kindness, flourishes which would make him look amazing in front of their classmates and her friends. There was honestly two Reeves the one which was trying to 'tame' her and the one who was putting on a large show to let everyone in the school know exactly how much better he was than the rest of them. Obviously today he was reminding everyone that not only was he highly talented but he was able to seduce the Tesla sisters. A prize indeed.

In all honesty, Reeve was just good for money and his family name. Everything he was, was fake, at least in Margo's opinion. He was subpar at flying (If the lessons she'd had to give him weekly for the last year said anything), he was obnoxious, possessive, a bad liar, a horrible cook, he had bad taste in jewelry, and an even worse taste in extracurricular activities. Quidditch was a great sport, but not something worth wasting time over when he was getting only acceptable ratings in class. How as he going to improve upon his family's wealth flying broomsticks all day? Worst of all though was, he was a deplorable kisser.

    Miranda
Miranda's body lit up like a thousand twinkling lights as she felt Reeve's arm slide over her shoulder in the flawless way which he always seemed to do things. A blush working its way across her face chased a full smile as she leaned into him enjoying his warmth and good nature. He was in a great mood. It didn't take the soft kiss on her cheek to tell. He'd been so determined in practice, so skillful, the way he'd worked with King had even impressed Calista, and Calista Tran was no pushover.

Miranda tried not to notice Rosie's disappointed look as Reeve kissed her sister. Her friend had often expressed that there was something wrong with what was going on, but Miranda didn't feel like she was being taken advantage of. At least not in the way that Bryony and Rosie had suggested when they'd learned about what was going on between the three of them. Margo was selfless, Margo never did anything to hurt Miranda and this was not going to be the time she would start, no matter what the other girls said. Even if it make Miranda a little sad when Reeve would shower her sister with affection she knew that this was just the way things were. He treated her well, like a delicate flower he was afraid to break, his gifts were thoughtful, his smiles stunning, he loved them differently was all. Margo and Miranda had always been a package deal and Miranda for the most part never minded sharing anything with her twin, this was no different. Even if the other girls didn't see that. Positivity was important and she was positive that Reeve did love her and that's all that mattered to the fourth year.
