Olivia chewed on her lip nervously as she adjusted her hoodie over her hair. She had been forced to transfer to a new school in the middle of her junior year which for her was hell on earth. The brunette was five foot three and weighed two hundred pounds. Thankfully for her body type you could hardly tell she was as big as she was but the brunette knew it was only a matter of time until someone started making fun of her weight.
Zacky walked into his classroom, a bit late since he'd let himself sleep in a bit. He sat his briefcase down next to his desk and then sat in his chair, turning his computer on and signing on with his username and password. He began to check his work e-mails, biting his lip gently. He was a bit tired from oversleeping, but the coffee he had was keeping him awake.
Olivia walked into her second class of the day, music class. She loved music and was glad she could get into a history of music class at the new school. Her first class with Mr. Sanders had been hell and Olivia was glad to move on from Science. The brunette stepped into the classroom, looking over at who she assumed was her teacher and blushed. "Is this Mr. Baker's history of music class?"
Zacky looked up and nodded his head, smiling as he stood up and walked over to the girl. "Yes," he said. "I'm Zachary Baker, but you can call me Zack. I'm on a first-name basis with most of my students. I like to keep it friendly here." He extended his hand out to her. "You must be our new student."
Olivia shook her teacher's hand blushing as she did. He was extremely handsome and she could tell he had some colorful tattoos under his button up from the little that was peeking through. "I'm Olivia," she replied. "I usually go by Liv though." She chewed on the inside of her lip nervously as she noticed more kids walk into class. Olivia hoped Zack didn't make her introduce herself like Mr.Sanders had.
"Liv," Zacky repeated, smiling at her. "I'm glad you're joining my class. If you love music, you'll have fun here. And I promise I'm not one of those teachers who is a jerk. If you ever need help or you just want to talk, you can come to me. I'm a great listener and I've been known to give good advice. You can sit wherever you like."
Olivia smiled. "Thank you Zack." She moved to take a seat in the back of the classroom, not wanting to be noticed at all. The brunette had been way more social at her old school but most of the people there she had grown up with so she knew they wouldn't judge her as badly as her new classmates probably were.
Zacky smiled and he walked back over to his desk, sitting down and closing his e-mails for now, bringing up his list of students so he could mark who was there and send it to the front office. It was annoying to have to do it, but it was a necessity. Because some students would show up for homeroom and then just ditch.
Olivia pulled out a bright green notebook she had written the class name on and began doodling pictures of different instruments and artists as Zack took roll. When he called her name she stated she was here before she went back to doodling, successfully ignoring the stares she was getting from her classmates as she did.
"Hey Livvy," A guy whispered.
Olivia looked up, shocked to see it was the guy she had been paired up with in Mr.Sanders class for the labs. She gave a small awkward wave, blushing lightly as she did.
"Alright," Zacky said as he stood up, walking around his desk and leaning back against it. He looked over his students and bit his lip. "Raise your hand if you like rock and roll."
Olivia's hand shot up high in the air, a bright blush covering her entire face after when she realized what she had done. She heard Johnny chuckle beside her before he raised his own hand.
Zacky smiled as he looked at all the hands that raised, almost the majority of the class. "Alright," he chuckled. "Now, raise your hand if you play guitar."
Zacky couldn't help but grin at the amount of people who raised their hands. For the first semester, they'd mostly focused on music theory and history and things like that, but for the second semester, he planned on actually getting into the instruments and playing them. He walked over to the closet and pulled out a guitar and his small amp, hooking it up and smiling at the class. "I happen to be a guitarist myself," he said.
Olivia smiled as she watched Zack play his guitar shocked at how good he was. She looked over at Johnny who pssed her a note, biting her lip as her smile turned into a grin. I thought he meant all kinds of guitars. I play bass guitar. A small giggle escaped her lips as she pulled out a purple ball point pen and wrote out her response. I play both so if you ever need any guitar lessons I can give you a few pointers.
Zacky smiled as the class applauded him, and he set the guitar down. "I've convinced the student council to let us do a little battle of the bands at the end of the semester before graduation, so I'm going to be splitting you guys into groups of which you will form your bands. You guys will get to pick your songs, but remember, it has to be school appropriate," he said.
Olivia grinned widely as she looked over at Johnny who shared the same look. They silently agreed to try to get in the same group and continued passing notes about what song they would do. They listed a bunch of older rock songs, one of them being one that if Olivia had to do vocals would probably push her vocal limits.
"Before class is over I want you all to come up to me and tell me what your groups are," Zacky said. Unlike other teachers, he liked to give the students the responsibility of making groups themselves. He wasn't one of those overbearing assholes of a teacher.
Olivia, Johnny and two guys Johnny knew, Brian and Jimmy became a group. Each one of them knew an instrument and began discussing song ideas as well as band names. By the end of class they decided Johnny would play bass, Olivia would do lead vocal and rhythm guitar, Brian would play guitar and Jimmy would play the drums. Olivia suggested the band name Lips of Deceit which the guys like, all of them voting to go to Brian's after school to figure out their song.
When the class ended Olivia walked up to the front of the class, waiting after everyone else and chewed on her lip as she thought of what song they could play. She heard Zack clear his throat and she blushed. "My group is called Lips of Deceit and it's me, Johnny, Brian and Jimmy. We haven't decided on a song yet."
