Tongue Tied

Gen waddled into the room, taking her place in Brian's lap. "It was pretty fun! We went to the Disney store and got some stuff for TJ, and then we stopped at Sephora and that little outlet mall on main... I picked up some more onesies for Princess." She spoke of their baby, who they'd recently found out was a girl. The mother to be was over the moon. Truth be told even though she would have been happy no matter what, Gen had been praying for a girl. "It really is no problem. I know what it's like to be in her shoes, and she's a sweet girl. I would be friends with her even if she wasn't Zack's wife-- she's really fun!" The brunette kissed her husband back, a content sigh leaving her lips. Moments like these made all the bullshit that they fought over worth it. She rested her hand on top of Brian's and grinned. "She's been really active today-- I think she knows her party is soon." Genevieve spoke, mentioning her baby shower.

Matt raised a brow, ready to tell the old lady that their were shopping for their friends' baby shower when she scuttled off. "Well, that was weird." He chuckled, trying to keep the situation light because he could tell that Madi was thoroughly embarrassed. A smile appeared on his face when he saw the purple blanket that she was holding. "That's adorable, Mads. Brian and Gen'll love it. I'm pretty sure that they're painting the nursery that color. Purple and owls, I think that's what Gen said the theme was." It still tripped Matt out that the two of his friends who were the wildest partiers (aside from he and Madi) were about to be parents. Oh well. He supposed they all had to grow up sometime. "I have absolutely no idea what I'm gonna get them... but that Zebra diaper bag looks cool. Totally Gen's style."

Brian chuckled as he listened to Gen talk. "Well I'm glad you two enjoyed your time and got a lot of stuff," he told her. "Do you even hang out with Madeline anymore?" He asked her with a raised brow, tilting his head to the side. "Or can her and Matt not spend five minutes away from one another. I swear, I'm going to find a way to make them confess their undying love for one another. You just wait and see." Brian was pretty sure Matt was the only one left that wasn't even close to settling down yet. At least the rest of the guys had someone in mind. Brian chuckled when Gen said their princess had been really active today, running his hands over her stomach. "Yeah? I'm sure she does. She's already becoming a little partier just like her mommy," he told her with a smirk. The one thing Brian was going to miss the most once they had the baby was going out and having a few drinks, partying if you will. His freedom was definitely going to be cut short. It was a price he was definitely willing to pay though, that was for sure. He sighed softly as patted Gen's thigh, having her get up. "I guess this is enough song writing for one day," he said, cleaning up the mess he had made.

Madeline smiled when Matt said he liked the blanket, nodding. "It's very pretty. Of course they're doing it in purple, would Brian seriously have it any other way?" She scoffed, shaking her head. "I'm sure if they were having a boy he would still be doing it in purple." Maddie laughed, draping the blanket over her arm. She looked over at the diaper bag that Matt was thinking about getting, picking it up. "It's super cute, get it," she said with a nod, going over to the cash register. She got in line, waiting her turn before placing her blanket up on the counter. She told the lady that she wanted to have it personalized, filling out the form that she handed her and being told to come back tomorrow to pick it up. Madeline was actually really excited for her gift. It may be just a simple blanket but she thought it was definitely something the baby would love. She waited for Matt to buy the diaper bag before walking out of the store with him, yawning and stretching. "Holy crap, I could really use a nap," she groaned, pouting. "I cant thank you enough for coming shopping with me." Maddie smirked over at him, nudging him with her elbow.

"I think the last time Madi and I hung out one on one was before I was pregnant...so it's definitely been a minute." Gen laughed as she got up, stretching in the process. She nodded in agreement when Brian mentioned their two friends' attraction to one another. It was obvious to everyone except for Matt and Madi that they were meant to be together. "You know, we should just lock the two of them in a room by themselves and not let them out until they confess that they love each other. Save everyone a lot of time." Gen helped Brian up from the chair before standing against the wall, watching as he tidied the room. "Oh good god, let's hope she's not a partier like her mommy. She's gonna cause me a lot of grey hair if she's anything like I was when I was a teenager." Even before Genevieve had met Brian, she had been something of a wild child. The only thing she cut down on once they got together was her promiscuity-- when you had the man of your dreams, you didn't need to sleep around. "You hungry, babe? I can cook something up for dinner or order takeout, whatever you like."

Matt selected the diaper bag, telling the woman at the cash register that he would like it monogrammed as well. He pulled out his credit card and paid before following Madi out of the store. When she mentioned a nap, Matt realized how tired he was as well. Shopping really took a lot out of you. "Me, too... and it's no problem. You only dragged me out of the house by my hair." He joked, giving Madi a gentle nudge as well. As much as Matt liked to joke that he hated shopping, he really did enjoy spending time with Madi. No matter what they did. Do you wanna grab some food before we go crash at my place? I'm sure Bella's kept your couch nice and warm for you." He spoke as he fished for his car keys, unlocking the door as they left the mall.

"Lets order some take out," Brian suggested, following Gen up to the kitchen to look at some menus. "Your pick though." He was starving and he hadn't realized just how hungry he was until she said something about it. All this baby talk and working on music really did a number on his appetite. Brian leaned against the counter after getting himself a cold beer from the fridge, popping the top with a small sigh. He took a sip, loving how refreshing it was. He loved having a nice, ice cold beer after working hard all day. Or most of the day at least. "I think you should hang out with Maddie though, try to at least. Get her away from that meat head for a while so we can have him at the studio," Brian suggested with a small shrug. He didn't want to make it seem like he was forcing Gen to hangout with Maddie again, he just remembered how good of friends they were at one time and he never really understood what happened besides Matt that made them stop hanging out. "God, I'm so hungry," he whined, pouting.

Madeline gasped as Matt mentioned the couch, shaking her head. "If you think I'm sleeping on that couch, buddy, you're crazy," she said with a laugh. "You have the perfect California King that is amazing comfy and calling my name right now and the sheets better be clean," she said as she gave him a look. He honestly might still strip them for the hell of it before she laid down anyways. "Now you can either be a good sport and sleep with me or don't, your call. I know Bella has kept the couch nice and warm for you," she told him with a wink as she got in the car. Madeline used to love taking naps with Matt, especially when it stormed. Those were the best. He would cuddle her and tell her that it would be alright. Breathing in his scent would be so intoxicating and enough in itself to calm her down at any point in time. "I am hungry though, so we should definitely grab something quick to eat before we head back. Maybe some booze too so we can have a few after our nap," she said with a smirk. She wouldn't mind having a few drinks outside by Matt's pool later on in the evening and into the night. It was always so beautiful out there.

Gen grinned, nodding when Brian mentioned she could pick where they got takeout from. "Hmm... I'm thinking that little Chinese place down the road? If I even look at a pizza right now I'll probably throw up." She pouted. Their daughter had caused a sudden aversion to her favorite food. At the mention of hanging out with Madi again, she nodded. Gen really did miss hanging out with her friend-- but like Brian said, they never could tear Madi and Matt apart. "Those two need to just kiss and get it over with, I swear to god. Then we can all say 'I told you so'." Gen laughed, rubbing her stomach as she set about ordering their food on her phone. "Calm down over there, you. It'll be here in a minute." She joked. Once she'd gotten the confirmation that her order went through, Gen put her phone down and shuffled across the kitchen to give her husband a hug. "I really, really love you, baby." Gen stood on her tippy toes slightly so she could press a kiss to Brian's forehead. "I'm gonna text Madi later and see what she's doing tomorrow. Maybe she can come over and help me go through the mountain of clothes we've already gotten for Nugget from your parents."

"For your information, ma'am, I changed my sheets this morning. So bite me." Matt joked, climbing into the car. He buckled his seatbelt and made sure that Madi followed suit before he turned the car on and headed out of the mall parking lot. At the mention of food, he nodded in agreement. "Food and Alcohol? Are you sure we don't share the same brain?" Matt joked. "I never like to nap on an empty stomach, and I'm all for drunk swim later." He gently nudged Madi before heading in the direction of their favorite takeout place. It was cheap, the food was good, and Matt, being who he was, often received a hefty discount or his food was comped completely, depending on who was behind the counter. He arrived a few minutes later, killing the engine. "Don't worry about going in, I'll pay and grab our usuals. You can get the booze." Matt spoke with a wink, shutting the door behind him before heading inside.

Brian made a small face af the mention of Gen throwing up at pizza, shaking his head. "Well we definitely don't want that so Chinese sounds good," he said with a small laugh. He was so happy to hear that the food was on it's way, his stomach growling at the mention of it. He groaned and rubbed his own tummy, pouting a bit before taking a sip of his beer. "You're definitely right. But knowing them they're just going to deny it until someone ends up shoving them in one another's face," he said with a shake of his head. Brian smiled as Gen walked over, wrapping his arms around her. "I love you too, sweetheart," he told her, kissing her softly. "I'm glad you're going to text Maddi. Maybe I can get the guys to do something tomorrow, or we can have a barbecue," he said as he thought, tilting his head to the side. The thought of having the guys over and having a barbeque actually didn't sound half bad. They all haven't hung out outside of the studio in a while so it might be good for them. Brian groaned as Pinkly began to whine as their feet, sighing heavily and looking down at her. "I guess duty calls," he said, kissing Gen on the forehead before pulling away and taking Pinkly outside.

Madeline shook her head as she smirked at Matt, crossing her arms over her chest. She found it very hard to believe that he actually changed his sheets this morning. She was about to get out of the car and follow him inside when Matt told her to stay in, glaring at the back of his head when he said she could cover the booze. He knew damn well that booze cost more than food half the time, especially when he always ended up getting discounts or even his food free. Maddi huffed and sat back, waiting for him to come back out which seemed like forever. Eventually he did and her mouth instantly began to water at the smell of the food, licking over her lips. "God this smells amazing," she groaned, biting her lower lip. When Matt got to the liquor store she quickly hopped out of the car and went in, getting their usual along with a couple new things she'd been wanting to try, going back out to the car and getting in. "Alright, let's get this show on the road. I'm starving," she said, placing the bags of booze on the floorboard infront of her. "Plus I want to see my Bella. I feel like it's been forever since I've seen her."

"A barbecue would be a great idea! One last little get together, just us and the guys, before the shower. That sounds like fun." Gen grinned, laughing slightly when Pinkly began to pout at their feet. "Go take care of our first daughter, pops." The brunette gave her husband one more kiss before watching him take Pinkly outside. She sat down at the kitchen table and grabbed her phone, firing off a quick text to Madi. Hey, you! I know it's been a minute, but I miss your face. What are you doing tomorrow? <3 Gen made sure the text sent before putting her phone in her pocket and getting up to watch Brian through the kitchen window. God, he was going to be such a great father. She could hardly wait to see him with their daughter.

Matt rolled his eyes. "Sometimes, I think you only hang out with me for my dog." He joked, beginning the journey back to his place. They were there in about fifteen minutes, Matt rolling into the driveway. "Alright, Bella's been without attention for four hours, I think she might explode when she sees you." Matt laughed, grabbing the takeout and making sure Madi had exited the car before locking it behind them. He strolled up the driveway, and unlocked the house after fishing his keys out of his back pocket. The vocalist put the food on the counter before bending down to scratch Bella's ears. "C'mon, you. Let's go outside." At the mention of outside, Bella's ears perked up and she tore off in the direction of the back door.

Brian was really excited that Gen was on board with the idea of having a barbeque tomorrow with everyone. Once Pinkly was finished with her business, Brian took her back inside, smiling over at Gen. "I'll be sure to go shopping in the morning for some food and alcohol before the guys get here," he told her as he closed the door behind him. "It should be a lot of fun. While the guys and I are hanging out, you and Maddie can be upstairs doing whatever it is you plan on doing," he said with a nod. Brian jumped a bit when there was a knock at the door, furrowing his brow. If that was the food already that sure was quick. He made his way towards the front door, opening it and giving the delivery boy a smile. He handed him the tip after signing for the food, waving him goodbye and closing the door behind him. "Alright, foods here babe," he said as he made his way back into the kitchen. He sat the back onto the counter, beginning to distribute everything that she had ordered. "Jesus, what did you do, order one of everything on the menu?" he asked as he continued to pull out one various items.

Madeline just smirked at Matt and shrugged. Maybe she did just use him for his dog sometimes, but he didn't have to know. She got out of the car once they got to his house, picking up the backs of alcohol that she had down on the floorboard. She made her way inside, setting the bags on the kitchen counter and squealing as she saw Bella. "Hi, precious girl!" she greeted, bending down and scratching behind her ears. She let Matt take her outside, smiling and shaking her head. That dog was way to cute for her own good, just like her owner. Madeline sighed heavily, reaching for the food and pulling it out of the bag. She got her and Matt both some cups with ice, getting them something to drink to go with their meal. She grabbed some forks before sitting down at the table, starting to dig into her food. "Ugh, its so good," she moaned as Matt came back through the door, leaning back in her seat. "I'm not sure if it's just because im starving or what, but they did an amazing job today."

"Hey! I was hungry, I didn't know what I wanted, and some of this is for my midnight snack. That way I don't send you out at three am for food." Gen tease, grabbing some plates from the cupboard. She put them down on the counter before waddling over to the fridge and pulling out drinks for both her and Brian, setting them down on the table. Once she had everything together, Gen set about preparing her food. Everything looked good to her, so she put a little bit of all of the food she ordered on her plate. "I'm gonna miss being able to use Princess as an excuse for consuming everything in sight." She laughed, sipping her lemonade before taking a bite of her Sesame chicken. "How's your food, love?" Gen asked curiously, looking across the table at her husband. She reached across the table and put her hand on top of Brian's, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Matt raised a brow as he watched Maddie eat. "You couldn't wait until i got back in from letting Bella outside?" He shook his head before sitting down at the table and opening his takeout container. "I'm hurt, Maddie. I'm honestly shocked." Matt took a bite of his food and groaned, identical to how Maddie just had a few moments prior. "I don't blame you, though. This is pretty good today, holy shit." He sipped his beer before clinking glasses with Maddie. "Did I hear your phone go off in the car? Or was I imagining shit." The two of them really didn't look at their phones all that much when they hung out, unless it was family or an emergency. Matt just thought it was the polite thing to do. He couldn't stand when people's faces were constantly in their fucking phones.

Brian raised a brow as he laughed softly at his wife. "Thank god. I'll be glad when I don't have to go on those trips anymore," he said under his breath, shaking his head. Those late night cravings did a number to him and even though the baby would be the one keeping him up instead he would be glad that he wouldn't have to actually go out and get food, instead he would be taking care of his little princess. Brian made his plate of food, sitting down at the table with his beer. He smiled over at Gen as she squeezed his hand, nodding. "It's great actually," he told her before taking a bite, sighing contently. It was really good today which he was thankful for. It was sometimes hit and miss with this stuff. Sometimes it was delicious and sometimes it was just downright shit. "How's yours, baby? Everything you hoped it would be?" Brian could tell that his wife was definitely enjoying her food by the way she was eating it as fast as she was practically getting it on her plate, which made him want to laugh a bit. But he knew that if he even dared tried to laugh he would probably end up striking a chord and he definitely didn't want to do that. Things have been so peaceful and he wanted to keep it that way.

Madeline smiled innocently at Matt, shrugging a bit. "I just couldn't help myself," she said with a small laugh. She bit down hard on her bottom lip as she watched him, raising a brow as she listened to him groan. She shook her head and tried to push back the dirty thoughts that were emerging, focusing on her food. The last thing she needed was to be thinking about Matt like that while she was drinking. God only knew what she might end up doing. "Oh, did it?" Maddie questioned as she furrowed her brow, fishing her phone out of her pocket. She hardly ever paid attention to her phone, it was usually on vibrate or silent so if it actually did go off she thought it was someone else's. "Oh, it did. Gen texted me," she said, biting her lower lip as she read the text. Oh my gosh, hi! I miss your face too!<3 I'm not doing anything besides my usual invading of Matt's house. What's up? she replied, setting her phone on the table. "Looks like someone else might actually want to hang out with me for a change," she told Matt, giving him a sideways glance. Maddie had planned on spending her day hungover or Matt's couch tomorrow but if Gen wanted to hang out then she was definitely going to take her up on that offer.

"This food surpasses all my hopes and dreams," Gen smirked, taking another bite from her plate. She knew that Brian was joking, obviously. Her hormones had gotten a little bit better since her first trimester, so she no longer wanted to lash out at Brian for every little thing. That wasn't to say that they didn't have arguments-- they still fought, obviously. Every married couple did. But still. They weren't as close to the edge of divorce as they had been in the early months of Genevieve's pregnancy. She was about to answer Brian again when her phone pinged, signaling that she had a text. "Oh, Maddie returned my text!" She spoke. "I'm surprised she could tear herself away from Matt for more than two seconds." Gen teased before answering the text. Well, Brian's gonna have the guys over for a little barbecue thing tomorrow, and I was wondering if you wanted to come over and help me go through the baby's clothes that we've already gotten? I need some serious help. Brian doesn't have the patience for it lol.

Matt raised a brow at the mention of Gen texting Maddie. "She did? Huh." He shrugged before taking another bite of his dinner. "What does she want?" Matt asked curiously. He had nothing against Gen, obviously. She was his best friend's wife, and his friend therefore by extension. But Matt knew it had been awhile since Maddie and Gen had hung out, so he was curious as to what the pregnant woman wanted. A soft sigh left his lips, and he waited patiently for Maddie to finish her text before talking again. "So, the only rule for naptime is you can't fucking take my blanket. You even think about it, and your ass gets demoted to the couch. I'm sure Bella will scootch over for you." The vocalist winked, giving Maddie a playful shove.

Brian laughed softly and shook his head at her. He sighed contently and began to think about what all he was going to be needing to get at the store in the morning, trying to make a mental checklist of all the things he was going to be needing. He was definitely going to need to get hamburgers and his dogs, that was a cookout staple. He was going to need some ingredients to make certain side dishes for sure. Brian raised a brow when Gen did that Maddie finally texted him back, laughing and nodding in agreement to what she said. "That's very true. I'm thinking about playing a little bit of Cupid once I get a few beers in tomorrow," he said with a smirk, wiggling his brows. It was time their friends started at least realizing their feelings for one another instead of being so blind to it, so brian was going to help it along a little. "God I'm so full," he groaned, leaning back in his chair and rubbing his belly. "I don't understand how you can eat so much, even if you are pregnant," he said with his eyes wide. It was just crazy how much her and the baby ate. Where did it even go? Brian pulled out his phone and sent out a quick text to all of the guys, telling them about the cookout tomorrow and that they all better be there or else there would fear the rath of a pregnant Gen. He enjoyed using his hormonal wife to his advantage sometimes.

Maddie raised a brow at Matt, scoffing. "I'm not going to touch your precious blankie," she told him, sticking her tongue out at him. She sighed heavily as she took her final bite of food, deciding she had enough. "Ugh, i can't eat anymore," she said with a shake of her head. "It's so good but I'm so full." Madeline looked down at her phone as it went off, reading her text from Gen. "Apparently Brian is having a cookout tomorrow?" She said, glancing up at her phone and over at Matt. "Gen also wants me to come over and help her sort through her baby clothes and get things organized since Brian doesn't have the patience," she said with a laugh, shaking her head. Of course! I can't pass up some good food that Brian's going to slave for me and gush over adorable baby clothes <3 I'll definitely be over to help, count me in! she sent, putting her phone back on the table. "I can't wait to look through all of that baby stuff. I bet it's all going to be so adorable," she said with a dreamy look on her face. Madeline couldn't wait to have kids of her own. She had to settle down and find the right person first of course. Hopefully that would happen someday soon because she definitely wasn't getting any younger.

Gen laughed again, finishing the last little bite of her food. "Your daughter is a parasite, Brian. I could eat all day, and the second I sit down or want to do something else, I'm hungry again. She's not happy until I'm completely stuffed." She sighed, resting a hand on her stomach. It was all worth it though-- every little ache, pain, and craving-- because at the end of it all, they were going to have their perfect daughter. Her phone chimed again, signaling that Maddie had texted her back. Thank you so much!! I really owe you one-- the shower isn't for another week, and they keep buying stuff! She's gonna be one by the time I go through it all x.x Gen sighed softly, putting her phone back on the table. "I can do the dishes tonight if you put the leftovers in the fridge for me?" She asked, getting up to do so. Doing dishes was the one part of housework that Genevieve didn't mind doing-- it was her one time of the day where she could just relax and think.

Matt raised a brow. "Brian's having a cookout? That could be pretty fun. Tell him I'll bring beer." He offered. He took the final bite of his food before getting up and throwing out the takeout container. "Knowing Brian and Gen, it's gonna be completely them, but still super cute." Brian and Gen weren't a conventional couple by any means, but the vocalist knew that they were going to be fantastic parents. "God, could you eat any slower?" Matt teased, giving Maddie a wink to show that he was kidding. "I would like to take my nap sometime today. We all know how much of a dick I turn into when I don't nap." He laughed, running a hand through his unruly curls. Matt headed over to the fridge to grab a bottle of water for himself, taking a sip while he waited for Maddie to finish up her food. "And as for the blankie comment, ma'am, don't be rude. You're a known blanket hog."
