Matty Healy

Matty stood around on his track, smoking a cigarette, more to keep himself warm than anything; the thin t-shirt doing nothing against the wind. It was a slow night which wasn't unusual but still sucked nonetheless. Across the street, familiar faces roamed the streets as cars sped by but didn't stop. He settled down on the curb, pushing his hair from his face as he dropped his smoked cigarette, stubbing it out with the tip of his shoe.

Spencer rode silently in the passenger seat with man who he didn't recall the name off. Which, he actually probably hadn't gotten at all really. The driver would hardly look at him let alone talk to him the whole ride, and Spencer was so glad when they finally got back to the piece of street where he had been picked up before. Once he was out of the car and back on the sidewalk the man was gone. He stepped away from the road a little further, reaching into his jacket pocket where he'd put the money he'd made sure to get right away, only to find it gone. After some frantic digging in both pockets, Spencer realized that the man had more than likely taking it back when he was had handed it to him before they'd started back. He wanted to chase the car down and find the guy and get his money back, he wanted to scream and cry and throw a fit, but, he settled for swearing under his breath and letting out another equally frustrated noise.

Matty watched as the boy got out of the car and frantically search his pockets, looking for his pay no doubt and Matty wondered how long the kid had been out here and by the looks of it, not long. He flicked the flint of his lighter."I haven't seen you around here before, freshmeat?" He asked, slowly standing to his feet and shoving his hands into his ripped, black skinny jeans.

Spencer quickly looked to the other when he hard him speak, not really having expected anyone to say anything and getting a little startled. He started to offer back an, "I-" but cut himself off and instead finished with a simple, "Yeah." that came out very nearly through a sigh more than anything else.

Matty nodded."Thought so. You're on my turf." He pointed to the area around them."But here's a tip, when you get your money, you walk away on your own because if you don't, doing what you did is gonna get your body thrown into a dumpster." He had taken his fair share of beatings and giving a service that wasn't paid for but lessons learned."I'm Matty by the way."

Spencer felt like he should apologize or something, promise that he would find somewhere else from now on, but didn't. Mostly because the guy didn't seem entirely too upset honestly. "Oh." he said next instead, glad to have gotten the warning, "Thanks." Spencer of course knew that this sort of thing could be dangerous, but didn't know how to help himself any, so he was grateful for any and all advice he could get. Especially since he really didn't want to end up in any dumpsters. "I'm Spencer," he introduced and then added a slightly unsure, "nice to meet you?" even though it definitely was.

Matty had planned to at least get a few more tricks in but it looked to be a bust more than anything and besides, Spencer probably could be shown a thing or do."Where you staying?" He asked, some new ones liked to dipped their feet in before leaving home or running away or whatever else and the handful of places that Matty was accustomed too, he hadn't seen Spencer there.

"I have an apartment over that way." Spencer said, pointing off to the left of them. "It's not terribly far away from here." he added a second later. He'd kind of tried to stay close-ish to home, within decent walking distance at least mostly for convenience but also because he didn't know where else to go really. Though he was admittedly kind of scared about being followed home or something similar.

Matty weighed the options of where he would sleep tonight."Then you should invite me to stay for the night. I mean after all, my advice could save your life out here." He wondered if Spencer thought he was a creep or something but out here, that didn't matter as long as he had a warm and dry place to sleep.

Spencer hesitated, unsure of how to answer. Because on one hand he would be happy to have someone stay over, but on the other it seemed a little...unsafe. Especially given the circumstances. "Well, I mean, I hardly know you. And what if I said yes and then you ended up killing me or robbing me or something?" Not that he thought Matty in particular would be more inclined to do those things, because he did seem pretty nice so far, he would ask anyone the same thing.

Matty laughed, shaking his head."Yeah, because I couldn't just kill you here. Not like anyone would care around here." He rolled his eyes as the whole thing was ironic given the fact that twenty minutes ago the kid was getting out of the car of a stranger who just paid him for whatever sex act he preferred.

"I guess you're right." Spencer agreed, although the statement hadn't helped too much. After a quiet moment or two he let out a quiet little breath and then, "Alright, okay, you can stay the night." He decided that asking if he didn't have anywhere else to stay might be better saved for later when they knew each other a little more and he felt like it might come off as less rude than it held the potential of being right now.

Matty nodded, a smile appearing on his face."Thanks." He followed Spencer's lead down the sidewalks toward his apartment, already thinking how much better it would be than anywhere he usually slept."So, anything you wanna know about me to make this easier for you?" He nudged his elbow against Spencer, knowing the other still wasn't keen on the idea, or maybe it was him too.

Spencer offered back a hum as a kind of 'you're welcome' as he started to lead the other in the direction of home. He was quiet for a few long seconds before he replied, "No? Nothing I can think of in particular." Really, he just wanted to be completely sure that Matty wasn't going to hurt him in some way shape or form, but how was he supposed to even go about that? "Maybe just tell me a little more about yourself? Like, whatever you think might be important to know." Spencer suggested after another quiet moment or two.

Matty smiled, shrugging as he dug his cigarettes from his pocket."Not a lot to tell?" He flicked the cheap lighter, lighting the tip of his cigarette and taking a drag."Been out here for a few years, been arrested a few times, and been clean for a few months."

"A few years?" Spencer asked, sounding maybe a little more surprised than he could have hoped for. But out of the short list of things he had to ask now from just the little bit that the other had said, that was the most prominent to him, and so first that decided to come out. "How many is a few, exactly?" he added.

Matty wasn't sure what few Spencer was talking about exactly but he seemed surprised at Matty's confession of being out here for a while so he went with that one."Almost four years." He shrugged as he took a long drag of his cigarette."After a while the days kinda blur together." A puff of smoke coming out with his words.
