Who are you to say?

It was the first day of school, no one enjoyed it. The teachers had to spend ninety minutes explaining rules and procedures for their classrooms. The students and to spend their entire day listening to the same things over and over again. It was Scott's third block when he finally decided to show up, getting an unexcused note from the office he strolled into Ms. Carlisle's class, nonchalant walking up to her desk and dropping the note. Scott wore simple black jeans, a white tee shirt, with a denim vest. He looked down at his teacher and gave her a slight grin as he ran a hand through his slicked hair. When he did the variety of small tattoos dotted around his forearms were very evident. But he didn't care, everyone knew that, everyone knew him in school. The only thing not everyone knew about was why he acted like he did, and that's because of his abusive father. Scott stood by her desk, waiting for his teacher to tell him where he was to sit, after just dropping the note to her.

Taylor Anne had spent the majority of her early morning choosing the perfect first day outfit. As a new teacher, she felt the pressing urge to make sure she looked and felt her best. She had left the house in a light pink pencil short and a white blouse tucked in. Her long, dark hair had been pinned back, leaving the pale skin of her face exposed. She was not running late and managed to run a stop sign or two on her way to the school, hoping beyond hope that she didn't get pulled over. Upon arrival, she quickly arranged the desks to face the large white board that took over an entire wall of her classroom and positioned her desk closest to the door. She took a moment to make sure that everything was straight, readjusted her not falling hair, and started placing papers on the desks for her first class. Her first couple of classes seemed to fly by as she called roll, introduced herself, went over the syllabus and assigned the first reading for the year. She had just finished calling roll for her third class when her door opened. She raised an eyebrow at the young man that strolled in. Taking the note, she checked it against her roster before giving a small nod. "Take a seat up front." Taylor Anne said, gesturing toward the last two open seats in the room as she stood up."Good Morning!" She said, a smile spreading across her face. "I am Ms. Carlisle and you are in this class to learn about the art of the English language. Now, before i start going over the syllabus, are there any questions?" She said, glancing around.

Scott took his seat, immediately pulling a notebook from his bag, he also pulled out two pens, black and red. Scott wasn't paying much attention as his teacher was explaining what they'd be doing, he wouldn't do it anyway. He began to draw in the notebook he had taken out, it was the only thing he was good at and cared about. Currently he was drawing a dragon, writing his teachers name on the collar. Hearing something outside his head jolted up and he stared out the window. It was as if Scott didn't even hear Ms. Carlisle, he could easily tune it out and pay attention to what he wanted. When she mentioned the reading three books he just crumpled the paper and tossed it into his bag.

Hearing no questions and no hands on the air, Taylor Anne continued on and started to go over the syllabus. She explained her grading procedures, what she expected forum the students and what they expected from her. She also gave times that she would be available for extra help as well as the contact information the school would allow her to provide. She gave the reading assignments that she expected everyone to have read within the next few months. She took a moment to scan the students in front of her. "Can ambrose repeat what I just said? " She asked and walked over to grab her roster. "How about you Mr. Randle?" She asked and crossed get arms over her chest. She was hoping he had been paying even the smallest amount of attention to half of what she had said though she was almost positive he had not.

Scott looked up when she said his name was called. He set his pens atop the drawing and folded his hands over over it. Scott gave Taylor a stupid grin and waited for a few moments before he spoke up. "Well, what exactly do you want me to repeat?" He asked cockily, now pointing to the clock. "You were just on a fifteen minute sole discussion. So repeat could include a wide margin of information." He said and rolled his shoulders, just grinning away at his teacher. He knew she wasn't buying his bullshit, but hey it was worth a shot. Scott didn't care, school was just a bump in the road for him.

Taylor Anne installing regretted her decision to call on Scott. It was only the first day and he was obviously not taking any of this seriously. She took a moment before responding to his comment and took the time to give him a cool, collected look that showed she was not amused. "Why don't you just tell event that you can remember." She said, slowly steeping through the rows of desks until she was standing next to the one that Scott sat in. She heard a few of the other students snickering but chose to ignore it. Glancing down at his desk, she rose an eyebrow at the drawing before her eyes flocked back up to meet his. "I'm waiting." She said and propped a hip against his desk.

Scott watched as Taylor made her to his desk, very obviously checking her out the entire time. When she was at his desk his eyes fluttered down to her hips, slowly, very slowly, his eyes making their way up to her face. A stupid teenage grin on his face. "Well, ma'am." He purred out, his hand sliding across the desk to 'accidentally' bump her hip. "You told us we had to read these three books." He paused to point at the paper. "By the end of the semester." He said and bit his lip, just smirking at him.

Taylor Anne adjusted her position so that she was a little further from his reach. "Well, at least we know you can read." She said, gesturing to the paper in front of him. Turning on her heel she walked back to the front of the room. "Can anyone tell us what your classmate has left out?" She asked, waited for a response and sighed. "Looks like I will have to go over it again." She said and started over from the beginning, this time making sure she wrote everything out on the board. "I am not above quizzing all of you over all of this tomorrow." She said, looking over her shoulder.

Scott scowled at the reading remark. Burying his head in his notebook as he began to draw again when she was writing on the board. Scott wasn't paying attention the second time around, why would he? Occasionally Scott would glance up, but watching her, not what she was teaching. When the bell rang Scott gathered up the stuff he had and shoved in into his bag, then stood up and headed to the door. When the rest of the students were gone he paused in the doorway with a grin. He looked over at Taylor. "I'll see you later sweetheart." Scott winked

Taylor Anne spent the rest of the class going over everything she had already said. Her other classes had been granted a few moments to themselves before the bell rang in her last classes so she was a little startled when the bell rang again. With a smile she bid her class a wonderful afternoon and picked up an eraser and got to work on the board. She noticed Scott pause and looked over at him. At his comment, she rolled her eyes and returned to erasing the ink from her board. Luckily she had planning during fourth block and she planned to take the opportunity to fine tune her lesson plans for the next couple of weeks. Plus, her feet would get a moment of rest from the low heels she was wearing.

Scott had the only clas he cared about fourth block, which was art. He went through that quite well, the art teacher was his friend and enjoyed his stupid diddle notebook. The final bell rang and most students exited the building rather quickly, it was about three minutes after when Scott walked up to Taylor's classroom. He bit his lips and stepped in almost nervously. "Ms. Carlisle." He said and looked up at her. "May, I uh, may I stay here until you leave?" He asked giving her a shaky grin. The kid really didn't want to go home, the art teacher was gone, and his other teachers hated Scott deeply.

Taylor Anne was surprised to see Scott was the student asking to stay after. "Absolutely." She said, trying to keep the shock out of her voice. She glanced back down at her work for a moment while he took a seat. "I won't be leaving until five." She said looking back up at her student. She was curious as to why he was willing to stay late in a class he had seemed to care nothing about. "Do you have a ride home?" She asked quietly, hating the silence in the room. In her rush that morning, she has forgotten to grad her iPod and an extra dock for it.

Scott moved in when she said he could, taking a seat near the form of the room, the closet one to her desk. He had pulled out papers from his bag and shuffled through them. After looking through the papers he finally found the one he was going to work on, it was a writing prompt for art class. Most teachers left at 3 or 3:30, so when she said five he let out a small sigh of relief. Then began to write out the prompt. When Taylor asked him if he had a ride he looked up at her. "I've got my motorcycle." He said shrugging his shoulders, head looking down again as he worked on his prompt.

Taylor Anne nodded and went back to her work. She finished around four but didn't have the heart to tell the student so she pulled out her trusty crossword puzzle booklet. He obviously was avoiding going somewhere and that concerned her. After a little bit though, she started feeling a little hungry. She dug around her bag for a moment before she found a couple of energy bars and a can of Mountain Dew. She held one of the bars across her desk. "Hungry?" She asked with a small smile.

Scott glanced up when she offered the energy bar. He hesitated a minute before standing up and taking hold of it, giving her a sweet smile. "Thank you." He murmured and turned around grabbing a paper he had on his desk, then turning back. "Could you read this for me?" He asked and held the paper out to her. "We have to do a writing prompt for art for another student to base their next piece off of." He said and swallowed, scratching the back of his neck nervously. His paper was definitely not one of a high school level. He had spelling and grammatical errors. But the theme behind it was one that no one else would have come up with.

Taylor Anne nodded and took the paper, glancing over it before looking back up at Scott. "Are you wanting me to look at this paper as your English teacher or a friend?" She asked. Part of her wanted to pull out a red pen or two and go to town correcting every little thing like she was used to but she also didn't want to hurt any unnecessary feelings. After all, this paper wasn't even for her class so she could afford to be lenient. She wasn't sure if Scott could though.

Scott shrugged his shoulders and looked down at Taylor. "However you think would be best for it to be good for Mr. Simard." He said and bit his lip. Scott kept looking at the clock and fidgeting. He looked at his arm and traced his finger along the tattoo while he waited for her.

Taylor Anne thought about it for a moment and chose to go half way. He had a wonderful idea and a general understanding about how most things were spelled. It kind of made her think that he might be dyslexic. That or she was jumping to conclusions, like usual. It didn't take her long to look over it and hand the paper back over to Scott. "I hope to see this kind of effort on the papers you write in here." She said with a small smile.

Scott smiled back slightly, taking the paper he nodded. "Yes ma'am." He murmured and went back to sit in the desk. Rewriting the paper with the edits she helped him make. After a bit Scott glanced up and noticed she wasn't actually doing her school work, he frowned and bit his lip. "You can leave, just tell me. I don't wanna keep you here.." He said and looked at his feet. Scott was the tough asshole, but alone he was much more reserved and nervous around people.
