Moving through the crowd with ease, pulling his back pack strapped higher up. Toryn's frown consumed his face, the last place he wanted to be was at school. But since he's father demanded that he graduated, he attended school. Scowling at anyone that met his gaze, morning was not his favorite. But he felt sorry for anyone that even said a word to him.

Kali rushed through the house, her keys clutched in her hands. She knew that she was going to be late, but she knew if her father seen her outfit she'd be forced to change. And she didn't want to be later than she already was. A happy sigh escaped her lips once she was safely secured behind the wheel of her car. Quickly pulling out, she speed off towards school. She was hoping that she wouldn't be late.

It was Jessica's first day as an English teacher. She had gotten a near empty classroom so she spent most of the early morning setting it up and making it visibly appealing. She had dressed in a tight black skirt and white top with a small sweater on her shoulders. Everything had to be just perfect. When the bell rang to begin the day she stood at the fron of her classroom waiting for her first block students to come in. When the late bell rang Jessica moved to her desk and grabbed an attendance sheet, going through then sending it to the office. "Welcome to English Track two. My name is Ms. Allen. On your desks you will have a list of books, you are to read three for each semester and submit a book report to me on each. The rubric for that is on the back." She said and smiled at her students. "Before I start going through rules and procedures does anyone have any questions?"

Ricky hated school, he really did. If he didn't have to go he wouldn't. He went mainly because his gang leader wanted him too. The gang wanted dirt on this one girl's father. It was his job to get that dirt. Ricky didn't understand why they hated the politician so much, but he was going to do it anyway. As soon as this was over he was dropping out. He made enough money off selling drugs, the gang, and underground fights. He didn't need an actual job, or diploma, it was just a piece of paper to him. He headed to English Track two, he knew this was a new teacher, so at least he could have fun with her. Ricky glanced around the class for the girl he was supposed to seduce, spotting her he let his signature grin slip onto his lips. He made his way to the desk besides her and sat down, leaning back against the chair. "Hey there sweetheart." He purred.

Zane rolled his eyes hearing the tarty bell ring. He knew being late would only result in detention, but he didn't care. He walked into class, taking an open seat in the back. He didn't care, it wasn't like getting a detention was going to hurt him. He was actually looking to get expelled.

Kali watched as the teacher took roll. She seemed kind of young defiantly not somebody she could see going a long way in the business. Shifting in her seat she looked down at her phone, paying attention wasn't going to happen. Hearing a voice beside her she turned looking at the voice, frowning at the guy. "As if." She told him. Everything about him screamed at her. She didn't even find him attractive, so there wasn't really anything in it for her to talk to him.

When Jessica saw Zane walk in late she sighed slightly. Late on the first day? That was just a small exhibit of what was to come in the year. She ignored it but went over and checked off the only name left. Jessica moved back to the front of the room and looked over her desk. "Has anyone read Of Mice And Men?" She asked and looked around the room at her students.

Ricky frowned slightly, well that was a failure. How was he gonna get "Ms. I'm rich and preppy too good for you" to talk to him? He knew he was arrogant and cocky, but he didn't care. Ricky knew he was attractive, any girl who wanted to go against their father came to him. He was the stereotypical bad boy that no father liked. Ricky sat up a bit in his seat, looking from their new teacher back to Kali. "And why not? Ms. I'm Too Good For Everyone?" He asked teasingly.

Zane rolled his eyes, as he shifted in his seat. Leaning forward he rested his head on his arms. This teacher wasn't going to last here. Mice of Men, really that was a book for freshmen. And here she's hoping to teach it to Seniors.

Kali looked over at the guy speaking to her. "Because." She smirked at him, with her fuck off smirk. "I'm better than everybody." She informed him. "And my standard doesn't touch rock bottom." She informed him motioning to him. She had dated football stars and even pretty boys from Hollywood. There was no way she was dating a skanky guy from down town.

Jessica watched as they raised their hands, she was glad they had."alright, good." She said and turned to the board writing down 'Themes'. When she turned back to the class she looked around. "I'm glad most of you have read it, and I hope you remember the themes of it. Those will be the themes I'm focusing on for this quarter of the year. Now who remembers a theme from the book?" She asked, seeing now hands she looked up and down the aisles, pointing at Zane. "How about you? Name a theme?" She said and leaned up against her desk.

Ricky snickered and rolled his eyes at her playfully. "You're cute, I'll give you that." He said and shrugged his shoulders. "But daddy's money can only get you so far." He said and looked back to her, Ricky let his eyes wander up and down Kali's body, almost nodding in approval. "And please. Rock bottom? At least I'm real. Not like the pretty preppy guys you'd date. The ones who only know the missionary position and don't know what a female orgasm is. Or how to actually treat a girl because their rep means more to them than the girl themselves." He shrugged, Ricky kept his face emotionless, hoping his truths would get to her.

Zane watched as the teacher pointed him out. Scoffing he rolled his eyes. "Never read it." He informed her, knowing he was lying but he still wasn't going to answer her. He honestly didn't remember anything about the book, how was he suppose to remember a theme.

Kali rolled her eyes at his remark. "Yeah?" She questioned him. Shaking her head she rolled her eyes at him. Sighing she turned back to him. "I wouldn't know anything about that." She informed him. She knew most people didn't believe she was a virgin. But the truth is her father was overly protective, she had security tailing her everywhere she went. And if she even wanted to her father always got to her boyfriends first. Its why she'd had so many of them.

Jessica nodded and shrugged, picking on other people who each listed a few of the themes about the book. Next to each themes he wrote a book that they'd be reading that shared the theme with Of Mice and Men. Jessica could tell this was going to be a tough class. But it was her first day, she hoped it would get better.

Ricky raised an eyebrow when she said that. "Oh really?" He asked and snickered. "Well you've saved yourself from some pretty disappointing sex so your safe." He laughed and occasionally glanced at the board. But his focus was on Kali. "Do you really wanna grow up and end up being a house wife of five children to a prep boy who's never home. Who doesn't know how to please you, or treat you? You can't leave the house because you might taint his reputation?" He asked and snickered. "Find a real man. Because I promise. Those pretty boys daddy don't mind. Are never fun. The ones that daddy don't like. The bad boys like me?" He paused for effect. "We're fun. I've never gotten a complaint."

Zane laid his head back down, pay attention was not going to happen. He'd been up late last night, making runs and dealing with his boss. His mind went blank feeling his body slowly drift off.

Kali rolled her eyes. "Yeah well go back to the many." She informed him. Turning her attention to the board watching the teacher write on the board. Frowning she nibbled on her lip, she was completely lost in where the teacher was at. She shouldn't have let him distract her.

Jessica continued on with the lesson. When she noticed Zane had fallen asleep she made her way over to his desk, dropping a dictionary onto it. "Stay awake." She said cooly ,taking the dictionary and walking back to her own desk, setting the dictionary down. Then walking back to the board. "Now, have any of you read the books listed?" She asked and looked around at the hands.

Ricky looks back at the board and read it over. He was good at multitasking so he was caught up. When Jessica asked about who read some of those books he actually raised his hand. Not many people thought of him as anything except a gang member. But he had some some secrets too. Ricky glanced over and looked Kali over, he realized he distracted her and made her lose focus. So Ricky did what any honorable man should do. He grabbed a paper from his notebook and wrote down everything Jessica talked about, helping fill in Kali. Then handing it other with a polite smile, murmuring to her. "I'm sorry for distracting you."

Zane jumped, before lifting his head. Staring at the teacher, his blank expression soon was taken over by a glare. Inturpting his sleep was uncalled for, most teachers let him sleep. He passed their classes so it was never a big deal. Groaning he kept his glare trained on the teacher.

Kali rolled his eyes before throwing the peice of paper back at him. Lifting her notebook to show him, she'd already copied the board. But that doesn't explain what the hell the teacher was actually talking about. "Maybe next time you should shut up." She told him.

Jessica walked back to the board. She paused to allow students to finish copying the board before erasing it. When that was done she wrote the name of one of the books she had mentioned beforehand on the board. "This is one of the books were going to read. It's going to be the first one. So I can see where you're at with reading level and comprehension."

Ricky frowned and threw the paper back. "Not what it say." He said coldly, turning away so he could face the board. Ricky had written what she was talking about, as well as his number after that. It was worth a shot, but now she had angered him, so he didn't care.

Zane scoffed, as if he'd be reading a book. He knew he'd be too busy to worry about reading.

Kali noticed his change in attitude and rolled her eyes. She knew that if you mess with a bitch you'd end up being pissed off. She really didn't care if she did, it just meant they'd leave her alone. Turning her attention to the teacher she heard the assissment, great looks like she'll be rereading the book.

Jessica glanced over at the class as she assigned the book. She went over and grabbed the box of books the former teacher had given her to hand out. She set the box on the table in front of the students and the sign out papers. "Alright each one of you come up here, grab a book and sign out sheet. Fill it out then pass it to the front."

Ricky got up when Jessica told them to get the books and sheets. He grabbed two and headed back to his desk, dropping the extra book and sheet onto Kali's desk. "You're welcome." He murmured and smiled at Kali before taking his seat and beginning to fill out the sheet as instructed.

Zane shifted in his seat, not bothering to move. He didn't need a copy of the book. Beside the last time he took a copy, Ricky had burned it. It was not going to come out of his pocket again.

Kali rolled her eyes, but expected the book and sign out sheet anyways. Quickly scribbling across the page, she fill out the form. It was stupid the school made them do it, but she knew that if the book got damaged she'd be responsible. So there was no point in arguing about it, it was just to ensure the students knew they'd been paying for the book if anything happened to it.

Jessica waited for the students to fill out the sheets before she went around and collected each of the papers from the student. She stopped at Zane's desk and looked down at him. "Where's yours?" She asked unimpressed.

Ricky filled out his and handed it to Jessica. Afterwards he glanced back at Kali with a small grin. "Come on, let me buy you a coffee after school." He said with a smile

Zane rolled his eyes. "I have the book." He informed her. "Don't see the need to get one." He said rather hateful. He didn't like how she was looming over him.

Kali rolled her eyes before turning to face him. "Oh so you can afford coffee?" She scoffed. "And who money did you steal?" She questioned him, knowing that he was a bad boy. So how bad was he, stealing kids lunch money bad.. She'd pass

Jessica nodded. "Alright." She said before heading to the front of the room and putting all the papers in a folder. "So your task is to read chapter one bye Friday. You'll be having a quiz on it." She informed them. "And you won't be able to Spark note this."

Ricky rolled his eyes at her and snickered. "I don't steal money. I'm above that.@ he said and looked over. "I'll tell you my income when you agree to a coffee date with me."

Zane shifted in his seat, hoping class would end soon. He longed to leave this facility, for good. But he had the rest of the year, and it was only starting.

Kali shifted and turned her attention to him. "I don't drink coffee." She informed him, knowing it was a lie. But she knew she deserved better than a coffee date. If he wanted her, he could take her out on a proper date. But she didn't see that happening.
