Living as Kings -- (closed)

Tyler roamed around the banquet hall, too many people dressed in their finest suits and ties and cocktail dresses and drinking champagne but for him, it was all business and nothing to do with the actual event at hand. He loosened his tie a bit, the desert eagle snug against his back, stuffed down just beneath the waistband of his slacks, just a safely precaution though as he was highly protected as it were. He stood at the bar, idly drinking malt whiskey as women fawned over him from afar and of course, a smile here and there kept them at bay, he was untouchable.

Ryan couldn't believe the extravagant event that he was invited to. It was only by his friend, Luke, who had to practically beg for him to come since it apparently was going to be far too boring for the other to go alone. After breaking down his defences, he eventually agreed. He didn't know exactly what he should have expected, even though it certainly wasn't anything as posh as this. Luke managed to sneak away half way through Ryan taking everything in, making him only confused and slightly out of place. He never wore three-piece suits, especially ones that were bought just for a one night use. He never had a reason to wear anything as fancy as what he had on and it made him shrink into himself without the crutch of a friend to keep him out of his own head. It was even more embarrassing when he couldn't find the restroom, having probably one too many glasses of wine, and it was only more degrading when he walked up to a man standing at the bar. He cleared his throat awkwardly, looking at him with a hesitant smile. "Weird question," he spoke, hand automatically going to rub at the back of his neck, "but would you happen to know where the loo is?"

Tyler's attention focused on the guy asking him where the bathroom was, he could feel Philip rise up from behind him, ready to pull him back any second but Tyler could tell right away, this guy wasn't even in the business and probably was here for the actual event, if that but it was also a bit unusual for someone within his age group to even attend these functions, he was very curious about this one. Tyler took in his suit, wondered if it was something he actually owned and he nodded, setting his glass down."You go out those doors and walk until you get to the end of the hallway, first door on the left." He pointed his index finger toward two big French doors that were covered in light tapestries.

Ryan was slightly taken aback by how stunning the man behind him was, causing him to sputter a quick thanks. He followed the direction the man was pointing with his eyes, taking another sip of his wine due to nerves. Placing the glass down on the table next to the other, he gave him a small smile. "Hey, can I ask you a question real quick?" He asked, the man behind the other was far more intimidating and staring him down, causing him to feel uncomfortable. "Have you seen my friend? He's pretty tall, buff. He's got a bald head, his name is Luke," he said because he knew that if he didn't find the other soon, he was going to leave just because he didn't want to stick around a party that wasn't his scene.

"Why? The event isn't over, is it?" Tyler asked, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he didn't think he had ever seen someone so uncomfortable in these types of functions that he was all too accustomed too. He downed the rest of the whiskey in his glass."You could have a drink with me while we wait on your friend?" He offered, he turned toward Philip behind him, signaled for him to up and leave him be which of course, Philip did as he was told. Tyler knew he probably should be attending to other matters but a drink or two wouldn't hurt anything.

"Oh, no. I don't think so, at least," Ryan admitted as he unconsciously loosened the tie around his neck, feeling as though he needed to breathe slightly. He licked his lips as he ran a hand through his hair, listening to the other's proposition. "Well, as long as your friend isn't going to be joining us," he replied as he watched the mysterious man disappearing, "you might have yourself a proposition, as soon as I go to the restroom, though." He held up one finger to signify that he would be back soon. While in the restroom, he couldn't help but wonder if it was the safest decision to be around someone he didn't know. He didn't have much time to think about it, though, pushing his platinum blonde hair away from his face as he went to the bar once again. He leaned against the bar facing the man with a playful smirk on his face. "I don't know if we have properly introduced ourselves," he said, extending his hand out toward the other.

Tyler shook the other's hand."Tyler LaQuin." He introduced himself, unsure if he should even tack on his last name but knowing the other didn't frequent this events often and was surely not in the crime ring, he didn't see a problem but he was sure once it got out that he had done so, he would get a lecture."What's your poison?" He asked, gesturing to the open bar.

Ryan was slightly surprised with the formality of a full name, but hardly let it effect him as he continued to smirk slightly. "I'm Ryan Matthews, it's nice to meet you," he said. He didn't know much about the event that was going on and hardly knew who was important and who wasn't. The way that bulky men were looking in their direction - mostly at him - he knew that this man was somehow very important to the fact of having body guards. "I really like rum and coke, but I doubt that's fancy enough for here, yeah?" He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly as he looked between the man and the bar. "How about you surprise me with whatever you prefer to drink."

Tyler leaned over the bar, ordered them two drinks before turning his attention toward Ryan, he had to be the most attractive guy he had ever seen.”So why did you decide to spend your night around here?” He asked, wondering what Ryan got up to most nights. The drinks were placed in front of him, he slid one over toward Ryan.”It’s a Rum Swizzle.” Tyler picked up the garnish of a skewered cherry and orange slice, pulled the cherry off with his teeth.

"Friend of mine invited me to come with him, said it'd be a boring party. I suppose he found some entertainment somewhere else, yeah?" Ryan asked as grinned cockily at the other. He wouldn't be lying if he admitted that the other man was attractive, which his air of confidence only drew him closer. He grabbed the drink once it was made, taking a sip of the drink. "It tastes great," he said, leaning closer to Tyler. He watched slightly mesmerised as he pulled off the cherry with his teeth, feeling his smile grow larger. "I can imagine a few other things that would taste great, don't you think?" He asked, biting the brought the straw against his mouth once more, sucking some of the liquid.

Before Tyler could say anything, he saw Philip over Ryan's left shoulder, gesturing for him."I'm over at the Carlyle Hotel if you would like to elaborate about things of great taste." He took a sip of his drink."Be there in an hour? Just tell them you're a guest of mine, they'll send you up and wait for me there." Tyler pushed away from the bar, leaned close to Ryan."I hope to see you there." He smiled before he was heading toward Philip and heading through a door.

Ryan kept on the confident air as he nodded his head. "Yeah, see you there, Tyler LaQuin," he said while the other was retreating away with his bulky friend. He truly wished that Luke was there to at least calm his nerves down a tad, because he was moderately sure he just managed to seem like a rent boy who scoped out richer men at events. He finished up his drink, taking gulps of it at a time until it was an empty glass in his hands. He still left a tip - while it was only five bucks, it still counted - as he decided that maybe he should try to look for his friend. He spent most of his time calling and texting him, slightly frustrated that his own friend wasn't there anymore. After fifteen or so minutes of trying, he decided he would at least find better ways of spending his time, which was when he decided that getting a taxi to Carlyle Hotel was his best option.

Tyler was late getting back to the Carlyle which had been his home since he could remember. He had lost his tie and jacket, his button up's sleeve rolled up to his elbows as he took the elevator to the top floor, hoping that Ryan had stayed, realizing he had no other way of contacting the other if not. The elevator dinged once it hit his floor, the gold doors slid open. Tyler's floor was mostly an open plan, his room and his bathroom were the only things closed off from the living space and he was pleasantly surprised to see Ryan there.

Ryan didn't exactly know how long he had been standing there, mostly taking in just how grand and extravagant the suite he was in was. He found himself slightly giddy at the fact that he actually scored a hot and rich man, which might have been shallow but still. This was just a fancy one night stand, in his eyes. He'd be going back to Queens the next day or later on in the night and disappear before Tyler even knew he was gone. When the elevator doors opened, he sat up slightly straighter from his seat on the couch, his leg crossing over his other as he grinned over at him. "Hello again, Tyler. I see you decided on a costume change since I last saw you," he said, wondering slightly where the rest of his outfit actually went. He decided it wasn't any of his business, though, instead focusing on the anticipation of what could happen.

Tyler laughed, toeing off his shoes which was probably damaging to the shoes."Disappointed? Do guys in suits do it for you?" He teased, surprised that Ryan hadn't discarded at least a part of his dress clothes but for him, it was a necessity more than anything."Did you finally happen to find your friend?" He asked as he pulled open the freezer, pulling out a bottle of the finest red wine.

"Yes, exactly. Now excuse me as I make myself scarce. Didn't know that this affair would involve you not in a suit," Ryan mused as he felt like he could finally remove a few of his own garments when he saw Tyler do it. He kicked off his shoes and discarded his rental suit jacket. "There was no such luck, I am afraid. Bastard wouldn't even answer my calls or texts," he said, shaking his head as he watched in slight wonder at the wine bottle the other pulled out. He hadn't seen anything fancier than generic store bought wines. He went as far to unbotton the first few buttons of his shirt, leaning against the couch finally.

"Now, I know why you really came, by all means there's a closet full of suits and tuxes and the silkiest of ties in there. Have at it." Tyler pointed to the closed off area of his bedroom. He poured them each a glass, handing one over to Ryan."And what would your friend say about coming home with a boy you don't even know?" He sat next to Ryan, digging into his pants and tossing his phone and keys onto the glass coffee table before getting comfortable.

"I am more of a sit and admire kind of guy, you know how it is," Ryan said as he allowed himself a drink of the liquid, making a small face as he still took another drink as if to double check and make sure the liquid didn't taste horrible on his tongue. He cleared his throat slightly after his contemplation on the wine he was given, bringing his attention back to the matter at hand. "He isn't that great of a friend, he just didn't have anyone else willing to, quote on quote, keep him company. Doubt he'd even really notice I was gone, he's fine when he isn't attending idiotic things such as that," he explained, going on a slight rant about it as he checked his own phone on the table. He wasn't surprised to see that there was still no word from Luke, almost using his blank screen to show he didn't have anything from his friend.

Tyler nodding, his finger running over the rim of the glass."Those events are very hectic and I would gladly be happy to never attend one again but that's not gonna happen. I spend the majority of my time at the bar." He smiled as if that wasn't a given."Why was your friend even there?" He asked, curious to know Ryan's answer even though he was sure by now, that he still didn't have a clue to he was which was a relief.
