Avery bit her lip. Did he not want her around? She smiled as he took the water and sipped it then handed it back. "I had the strangest dream... but it wasn't my dream per-say..." she kinda seemed to wonder off in her mind. "Well I woke myself with a shout. It happens sometimes. I also wake myself up with a just like I am falling. I hate falling... well really I hate heights." she said and laughed seeing she was rambling. Avery smiled and pulled her legs up into the chair hugging them. She rested her head on her knees watching him. "You know... you are quiet a lot... my sister would say your hiding something. I think your just scared. You said you travel with families? That get lonely?" she asked. Avery was very perceptive. It was why the Sage picked her to be her apprentice.

Haden nodded. She was right in a way but thinking about the past could also help someone keep their humanity. He could see how it could drive people mad though. There was a certain point you needed to stop wishing for the past and looking to what hope was in the future. "Alright since you don't like talking about the past do you like to talk about the present or future? Do you have hopes and dreams that you like to talk about?" he asked suddenly realizing se might freak out on him right now because he was asking her to share something close to her heart locked away behind that wall and she would have to let the wall down for just a second to share with him. "I mean you don't have to share it you don't want to. We could always talk about the weather." he smirked and glanced at her trying to make a joke in a way.

Jake looked at her, unsure if he wasn't to even asked. He knew it would only open the door to what he'd been dreaming about. And he didn't want to relive the dream, agian. He knew what the dream was about, he just didn't understand why he kept having it. It wasn't like he was ever going to see them again and make piece with them. "What do you mean?" He questioned her, raising a brow, somebody else's dream.

Laney couldn't help be laugh out when he mentioned talking about the weather. "Oh yes, the weather topic." She giggled shaking her head. She really didn't like talking about anything really. The future was bleak, since she didn't plan on spending it with anybody, other than her sister so she just liked to lived day by day. "I don't see the point in talking," she informed him. "People now a days don't really care about words." She said a bit bitterly. She knew it would open doors, but at least he'd understand why she didn't want him to pursue her.

Avery sighed. She blushed and looked away. "Well it was like I was trapped behind glass watching the dream of someone else because to me it didn't have meaning. It was just someone I just met and he was upset. He was trying to reach his family. I know what that is like but I stopped having those dreams years ago." she shrugged glad she had avoided telling him the dream was about him, or he was in it rather. Avery bit her lip and shifted. "Why is it strange?"

Haden smiled. He had gotten her to laugh and it was a beautiful sound. He wanted to aspire to make her laugh more but how was he going to do that when he really wan't that funny of a guy? Haden frowned and turned to her looking at her. "I care... If we don't talk what makes us any better than an animal?" he asked not saying the wolves but the idea was there. Those wolves that had done this to the world had stopped talking long ago. "Our community, our hope and caring about others is what sets us apart. Besides you can't really get to know someone unless you talk with them and share your hopes and dreams." Haden shrugged and looked away. "Thats what I think anyways."

Jake tensed hearing her talk about his dream, she couldn't have been meaning his. Ignoring the nagging thoughts in his mind, instead he went a different direction. "What do you mean? You've had them before?" He questioned her, unsure of how he felt about her seeing people's dreams. If it was his wouldn't it mean she had a connection to him, so then wouldn't that mean she had to have a connection with whoever it was. And that thought pissed him off, since he was thinking of her dreaming of another guy.

Laney looked at him, she was shocked. "Well I guess I see where you're coming from." She said thinking over what he just said. "Well what about you then, where do you see yourself in the future?" She questioned him raising her brow. "Oh or what do you do for fun, oh that's my favorite questioned that gets asked." She said, "guys seem to think my future is in their beds and what I do for fun deals with their dicks." She looked at him. "I don't talk to many people because everything is fucked up women want to whine and cry, where as men well you can guess what men want to talk about." She sighed.

"Well sometimes I wake myself shouting or falling. It happens a lot actually. It's why Laney doesn't like sleeping with me." she said and chuckled. She watched his face and bit her lip. "Oh you thought I meant I had a dream like that before... No no that was defiantly a first. Really strange honestly." she said and blushed chuckling again. "So I answered all your questions but you didn't answer mine." she leaned her head to one side. "Does it get lonely with who you travel with because I get lonely traveling with the group we have. The girls are all dating the guys and the rest of the guts are well jerks... Sage is really my only friend... well besides my sister." Avery said. She felt flushed around Jake and she had no idea why.

Haden nodded and smiled. She was asking him questions now... but she did;t give him a chance to answer so he listened. Haden frowned trying hard not to growl but he stood when she talked about what other men have said to her. He looked angry. "That's wrong. That's not okay!" he said and ran a hand through his hair pulling at it as he tried to calm down. He laid his head back and looked back up at the sky. "I am sorry..." he whispered. "Just because the world has gone to shit doesn't mean it is okay to act like an ass." he didn't look at her. "I understand now why you don;t like to talk but... I am not like what you have experienced. If you would give me a chance to talk then maybe you would see. But for tonight I think you should try to get some rest." he said and stood going to walk back into the building. He was so angry he was shaking though the human eye couldn't tell. Haden sighed and looked back at Laney. "I bet you use to have really interesting things to talk about before someone really hurt you." he said and went inside closing the door. He didn't go far though because he wanted to be sure he could hear her if she needed help out there.

Jake frowned hearing her talk about her dream. He wondered if it was because of their connection. He'd have to asked some of the other members of the pack. He didn't think he'd like it if she found out he was a wolf through his dreams. Shaking the thoughts from his head. "Well it sucks, but I do have good relationship with everyone." He informed her, "I don't think I'd have made it this far if I didn't have them." He smiled. "But as far as women company I guess the right one hasn't made her mark." He knew it was a bit of a lie, but he couldn't say she hadn't fallen into his lap, when literally she had.

Laney watched him her brow furrowed, as he paced. "Okay." She wake to herself once he'd left her. Sighing she thought she was actually being forthcoming. That was one of the longest conversation she'd had with someone other than Avery. Sighing she leaned back against the steps and looked up at the sky. Maybe she had been mean to him, she really didn't let him answer her questions. She just didn't want him to end up being like those other losers. He was actually good looking so she didn't think he'd have trouble getting Lai, bit then he did live with a bunch of married people. So he wasn't lucky, frowning as she thought over everything in her mind. A frown crossing her face, she didn't like the thought of him sleeping around.

Avery smiled and nodded. "That must be nice. I would like to make more friends really. It think that is why I am trying to get Laney not to be so quick to judge you and Haden. I can tell you are nice guys..." she said and bit her lip blushing as he talked about women. "I guess I know what you mean. I just haven't found anyone I really like either. Most the guys I met either want in my sister's pants or mine but never just a friendship." she said.

Haden was so angry with those other men. He knew she must have gone through something like that but hearing about it jut made him want to rip them limb from limb. Haden sighed and went down the hall a little and found a chair. He slipped into it and closed his eyes. He sighed listening to Laney's breathing just outside. He wished there was more he could do tonight but it would take me and she would have to see what he wasn't a bad guy like some of the others she had obviously met. He hoped to show her that over time.

Jake smiled at her, nodding his head. "Yeah," he liked the fact that she wasn't interested in any guys. But it also made his anger flare since he knew what kind of asshole had been talking to her and the manners in which she'd been treated. "Well I think I'm a great guy," he smirked at her. "And I can't vouch for a friendship but I sure can try." He told her honestly, he knew that he didn't get alone with most. But it was because he was always agitated at the fact his friends were mated, and he was sexually deprived because it, and they like to rub it in.

Haden's words rang in her head, she didn't understand why he'd gotten so mad. She didn't call him names or implicate him in being an asshole. Sighing she stood, maybe she shouldn't worry about it. He was after all a stranger, and she didn't have to be nice to him. Since after all her sister was interested in the other guy. So really she didn't need to even buddy up to Haden. So she wouldn't.

Avery smiled and laughed. "You see there that wasn't so hard now was it?" she giggled and stood sticking her hand out. "Well here is to trying to be friends." she said and grinned when he eventually gave her his hand. She shook it and gasped pulling back. She had felt like her entire body had just been shocked with electricity. "Uhh sorry." she whispered and smiled. "Static electricity. Must have been dragging my feet." she said and relaxed having a reasonable explanation though she hardly believed it herself. Avery yawned and stretched looking out the window. "About four in the morning... I think I could get a few more hours sleep." she said and beamed. "Goodnight Jake." she said and smiled at him slipping off into the room she had originally come from.

Haden woke with a start as the door opened. He hadn't realized he had been asleep. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair and shook his head. Time to wake up then and head back up stairs. He waited until he heard Laney upstairs before following her up. He walked in seeing Jake awake and looking absolutely stunned. "What's up?" he asked and sat down. Haden hoped that Laney had tried to go back to bed.

Jake smiled at her, before waving her off to bed. "Night." He sighed, what the hell was he going to do. He couldn't believe she'd been in his dreams. Though he hadn't noticed. Hearing Haden come in he frowned. "Have you ever heard of a mate being able to witness a dream?" He asked him, he was slightly stressing about it. But he wondered if maybe it was just her.

Laney sighed entering the room, "oh you're awake." She stated, looking up at her sister. "I didn't wake you when I left did I?" She asked, hoping she hadn't. Crawling in bed she sighed, laying down at looking at the ceiling. She was still fretting over the reaction she got out of him. She knew not all guys were the same, but she wasn't a very talkative person.

Haden looked at Jake thinking about it. "Well each mate have different connections. I suppose it is possible for a mate to be sensitive enough to enter in the dreams. You've heard of mates being able to communicate over far distances dreaming can't be much different. I don't know Jake but if she is showing signs of repeatability don't push her away explore the connection. It is one of the best and most fulfilling part of the mating process. You need to explore what it means to find and be mated. It can be a wonderful thing if you are both open to it and obviously if Avery is already reacting then she is open to you." he said and smiled. He thought of Laney and how he was internally pleading for any signs that they were to be mates.

Avery chuckled. "Naw I woke to a strange dream. You know how I get with dreams." she said and snuggled up with her sister. "You're thinking again..." she said softly noticing a slight change in her sister. "What is up with you?" Avery asked. How she desperately wished to know her sister again. Even after dad was gone they were close until one day they just weren't and she didn't understand it.

Jake listened to Haden talk, maybe he was right. Though how could he use it to his advantage, and make the connection work. Frowning he thought over what he could do. "And how the hell am I suppose to control my dreams?" He questioned. "I turned into a wolf in the dream she seen." He informed him. "Though she didn't mention it and didn't act like she knew so maybe she woke before I had transformed." He thought out loud, if only he could control his dreams.

Laney looked at her sister, and watched her for a second. "I was outside talking to Haden." She said not wanting to beat around the bush. "He weirded out on me and stormed inside. I don't think I said anything bad." She shook her head. "He basically gripped my head off because he's not like other guys, but I never said he was." She sighed. "I suck at talking to people." She finally finished her rant.

Haden nodded listening. "You're right she probably didn't see it. She probably woke before. And you don't have to control the dream you just have to stop being so afraid of her seeing you. Let her in that is all and the dreams will change because then it won't be just your dream." Haden smiled. "Jake trust the mating process. Trust that even though it is obvious that she won't understand right now eventually she will and that will be okay." He soothed him before shaking his head. "Just trust her."

Avery frowned. "Talking with Haden and he freaked? Hmm." Avery thought about it a long time. "Maybe he was feeling protective and didn't like the thought of other guys around you. He totally likes you Laney. Maybe it wasn't anything you said. Or maybe it was just that he wasn't feeling heard what do I know. I am glad you talked with him a little. You don't talk enough and the only way you will get good at it is if you do it more." she said and poked her sister giggling. "I love you Laney..." she said sleepily.

Jake nodded, "yeah you're right." He said, listening to his friend. Then he smiled, he would definitely be trying to make thing go smoothly in his dreams from now on. "So where did you disappear to?" He questioned Haden, he could smell Laney's scent on him, though it was faint. "She have anything to say?" He questioned, smirking at his friend knowingly.

Laney smiled at her sister, "maybe." She said, "I love you too, now get some sleep." She told her. Shifting in the bed she sighed, thinking over what her sister said. Did he like her, or was it him wanting in her pants. She didn't know how to feel, granted he basically yelled at her tell her he was different. And he wanted a chance, a chance to what get to know her or be with her. She didn't know of she was ready for a relationship, because a friend was a stretch for her. Her thoughts were so clouded with thoughts of him and her that she didn't even realize she'd slipped off to sleep.

Haden chuckled. "We just walked... or rather talked about why she didn't talk. Uhh what is it with human men and their disgusting habits of trying to ruin anything good?" he asked and shook his head. "Seriously were did all the good men go?" he asked realizing they probably all ended up like him and Jake trying to protect people instead of running away to save themselves. Haden sighed. "She is hurt and she doesn't trust me but I can't blame her. Laney... she has her walls up so high I can't even peek over them." he shook his head. "So I am just going to keep trying. If I am there and I show her that she is not alone maybe then she will see what I have been trying to say." Haden shrugged.

Avery smiled and nodded closing her eyes listening to Laney fall asleep. She closed her own eyes and drifted off to sleep thinking about what Jake had said. He wasn't all that different from her sister but yet in so many ways he was very different. Avery was asleep sooner than she thought and she stayed like that for the rest of the night. When the morning came the sun was shining into her window and she got up going to check on Chip who was still asleep. Healing took a lot out of a person and made them sleep more.

Jake listened to Haden ramble, he felt bad for the guy. He hadn't really had it easy, and it was just another thing added to the list. He didn't answer him, just dozed off instead. His sleep was peaceful, no more dreams. And when he woke in the morning her felt well rested, but he felt like an asset because Haden had been helping him with his problem, and he pulled a dick move and passed out on him. Yawning he sat up and noticed Haden wasn't there, a frown came to his face wondering why he hadn't woke him.

Laney stretched her body out, as she laid on the bed. A yawn escaping her as she sat up. Looking at the bed beside her she frowned, knowing she'd slept longer than she intended to. "Morning." She jumped slightly at the greeting, her eyes traveling to the open door. Softly smiling as a blush formed on her cheeks. "Good morning." She greeted Haden, wondering if he was sent to wake her up.

Avery slipped out of Chips room and saw Jake waking. She giggled. "Morning sleepy head." she said and plopped down in the chair. She stretched and sighed. "Chip is still asleep." she said thinking they would need to wake him soon so they could be on their way to get them all back to the group. "Hey Jake... since we're friends... do you think we will see each other again?" she asked and blushed. "You know when I go back?" she asked. Avery liked Jake and she really liked the idea of getting to know him. Though she wasn't sure how Luke was going to like that. He say her especially as his. This was something she didn't understand maybe it had something to do with Jared training him to be the new leader as she was being trained to be the Sage which was the right hand of the leader.

Haden blushed having been caught because it was to late to close the door and walk away now. "Morning." he greeted. He had been woken by Avery coming out of the room and had taken the opportunity to see if Laney was awake but she had been asleep and he found himself standing there watching her sleep. She looked peaceful when she slept. "I was wondering if you wanted to eat before the journey to return to your camp." he said. Haden just wanted to show her that it was okay to be vulnerable with him.

Jake bit the inside of his cheek he had to stop himself from spouting off. "Of course." He smiled at her, he wouldn't let her leave him that easily. Beside where she went he would go too. Even if it meant leaving the group behind, though they'd follow. They all understood the pull, and would never let a man walk away because of love. "So is he up for traveling?" He questioned her hoping she'd say no, so they could at least spend the day together.

Laney smiled before nodding. "Yeah breakfast sound good." It was the only time of the day where she really ate. The other meals were light though she made sure she was never hungry. Biting her lip she looked beside her on the floor. In her sleep she had a tendency of taking off clothing, though she was glad it was her jeans and her lower half was covered. "I'll be in there in a minute." She informed him, hoping he would get the hint that she wanted some privacy.

Avery smiled and nodded. "Good." she said and then listened to his question and bit her lip. "Well he will need help walking but he should be able to make it to camp. We aren't to far off. Half a day maybe a day depending on how fast Chip can walk." she said and smiled seeing the disappointment in his eyes but she was going to invited him to stay with them for the night have dinner maybe. It was the least they could do.

Haden nodded and smiled. "I'll heat something up." he said and grinned. He looked at the ground realizing she had taken her pants off and he smiled. She asked him in her way for some privacy and he nodded. "Of course." he said and closed the door for her then went to the kitchen. "Are you hungry Avery? Jake?" he asked heating up some other the things he had brought back from earlier that morning. He was glad he had set Jake at ease but he hadn't been able to sleep all that well.

Jake bit his lip, he might talk to Haden, and try to convince him to talk the girls into staying another day. That way Chip could rest and they could hang out with out the hassle of wolves or outside influences. He didn't like that they were being pressed for time. Thinking about ways to delay the trip he thought about his pack and how they needed him now too. With one of them injuries they wouldn't be moving anytime soon. Maybe he could bring it up to Haden that Avery might be able to help. He would ask but he couldn't bring her or Laney into camp with out Haden's permission.

Laney's blush deepened when she noticed him see her pants on the floor. Her humility couldn't seem to get worse at this point. Hearing the door click she quickly got out of bed and pulled her pants on. Biting her lip she debated on weather or not she should join them right away. She was still trying to calm her self down, but it wasn't like her to get embarrassed. Though him giving her space showed her he wasn't like the other guys. Most guys now a days would have taken that to their advantage and tried to sleep with her, willingly or by force. Shaking her head she thought it would be best to be with the group then alone with her thoughts. Leaving the room she slowly made her way down to them.
