Rebellious Wakings

Evie sighed as she walked out the school with her bag on her shoulder, she groaned - her back was aching from all the books she carried. She knew it wasn't very good for her to carry every book she might want to read on a daily basis but she was always prepared. She walked over to her car and began to drive over to the diner where Jess worked. Evie knew her parents didn't like Jess but she also knew that they didn't want to push her away.

When Evie got to the diner she smiled,"Hey," she said to him as she sat at the counter, "Busy today?"

Jess looked up as the door swung open, taking his eyes off of the counter he was wiping down and smirking a bit. He moved over to where she sat and stood in front of her, tossing the rag over his shoulder and smiling. "What's up?" He asked, looking around the diner to make sure no one needed any attention. "It could be worse," He smiled a little, before turning away to grab a glass for her. "What'll it be today?"

Tatiana climbed up the lattice leading to Isaac's room, trying to keep quiet enough not to attract the attention of his parents. She knew they were more than likely downstairs reading the bible together or praying, so she sat on Isaac's bed until he came back upstairs. They had only been together a short while, but his parents kept him in so often that seeing him was close to impossible if they werent in school.

"Coffee, strong with cream and sugar please," she smiled a little as she looked at him, "I got a A- on my english final," she pouted as she looked at him.

"An A-, I'm thinking of doing extra credit to make up for it," she told him nodding a little,"Oh and can I have a slice of chocolate pie,"

He walked into his room and cursed ,"You scared me," he said to her laughing a little as he looked at her shutting his door and locking it behind him.

"Careful. Do your parents let you use that language?" She asked, teasing him and grinning. "I didn't see you in 6th period, so I brought you your homework." She murmured. "Was it bible reading, or group praying this time?" She asked, referring to earlier.

"Of course, would you like a candle to celebrate?" He asked, turning to grab a slice for her and a fork. "An A- is fine! It's still an A." He teased, shaking his head.

"Both," he said to her with a smile as he walked over to her, "Thanks, I appreciate it," he said to her.

"But I could have gotten a A+ and I got minus," she said to him, "And a candle would make me feel better," she said to him as she looked at him.

He grabbed a candle from under the counter and lit it with the lighter from his back pocket, setting it in front of her. "Here you go, can't have you looking all sad," He murmured. "What time do your parents want you back? How about we go for a drive after I'm off?"

"You're welcome," She murmured and smiled. "So are you trapped here? If you are, I don't mind. You'll just need to entertain me here."

She grinned as she looked at him, "Thank you, and they're not expecting me till 10 tonight, I'm studying don't you know," she said to him as she sipped her coffee and sighed,"You make the best coffee,"

He nodded a little, "I am trapped for a while but I'll escape eventually, maybe we can climb down the tree," he said to her.

"Well when you're free, what do you want to do? We can go out, go to my house?" She asked. "Do you think your parents would be okay if I came here to work with you on homework? I mean, would they let us be alone or would they make us do it in the room with them?"

"I'm glad someone around here likes it," He laughed, leaning against the counter and sighing. "I know how you feel about being around my friends, but they're going to the drive in movie tonight."

"Well when you're free, what do you want to do? We can go out, go to my house?" She asked. "Do you think your parents would be okay if I came here to work with you on homework? I mean, would they let us be alone or would they make us do it in the room with them?"

"I'm glad someone around here likes it," He laughed, leaning against the counter and sighing. "I know how you feel about being around my friends, but they're going to the drive in movie tonight."

She smiled a little, "Sure we can do that," she said to him as she looked at him, "what movie is playing?" she asked him.

He smiled a little,"I suppose we could sneak out for a while - get dinner," he said to her.

"Alright, just tell me when. What can we do until then?" She asked curiously.

"Some horror movie," He shrugged. "They're hanging out at the hill later too," He added.

She nodded,"Alright sounds good to me," she said to him lightly, "I'm gonna go home and change first so, should I bring a sweater?" she asked.

He smiled a little,"Alright, now, lets go - my parents just left and won't be back till tonight," he told her.

She nodded a little and stood, grabbing her bag. "Want to go to the diner? We can eat there and just sit in the car?"

"You know I'll keep you warm," He grinned. "I get off in an hour, I'll pick you up."

She smiled a little as she looked at him and nodded,"Alright, see you then," she told him lightly.

He smiled,"Alright, come on," he said to her smiling as he grabbed his wallet.

She headed down his stairs and smiled a little. "When will they be back?"

"Alright," He smiled a little and sighed, going back to cleaning the counters until he could get off work.

She smiled a little as she finished her coffee and took her muffin as she stood up.

He smiled,"Around ten," he told her,"they have a bible study meeting," he said

She nodded a little, heading outside. "I parked down the street at the park," She murmured. "Unless do you want to take your car?"

"See you later," He smiled a little.

"Bye!" she said to him smiling a little as she walked out of the diner. She got into her car and drove home, she knew her parents would be out so she didn't have to explain.

He nodded a little as he looked at her,"No, lets take your car," he smiled a little.

She smiled a little as they walked over to her car, pulling out her keys. "Tomorrow do you want to go out to the movies?"
