Jane could remember everything about that day vividly. It had happened quickly, and quietly. Her entire world had been ripped out from under her within minutes, and hardly anyone had even uttered a peep.

She had been studying in one of the labs when everything happened. Four men, each wearing armor like clothes, all armed with guns. They entered the room quietly, two of them pointing the guns in her direction, as if she would try to harm them somehow. One of them stepped forward, and gave her the instructions. She could remember them clearly.

Don’t fight. Don’t run. Walk slowly. Keep your hands at your sides. Stop outside of the building with the rest of your party.

She had been allowed in to gather a few things later, after everything was sorted. After it was announced she and Abigail were to leave the facility. Her entire life, she hadn’t felt as though she and Abigail were different. Sure, Abigail was technically cloned using her DNA, but she was her own person. Jane looked at her like her twin. She could see it in the eyes of the men escorting them that they didn’t see it that way.

Now, she found herself in a small hotel room, which she shared with Abigail. Two men guarded the exit to the doors, ready to intervene if either of the girls decided to run. And all they could do was wait, to discover what their fate would be.

Abigail had been caught off guard when the armed men approached her quietly, she had been walking towards the lab where Jane was studying. She remembered being told to stop walking and when she turned around, she saw three men standing there. Two had pointed their guns at her which struck fear deep into her, she had been told not to fight nor run even though the first thought that past through her mind was to run and find Jane. She never felt like she was a clone of Jane's, it was like they were sisters as they did grow up together since they were young girls but she already knew most other people wouldn't see it in that way.

However she did listen to what the man was saying, she was given time to grab some belongings before she was forced to leave the lab where she had lived for her entire life so far. She was confused and angry, she had been stuffed into a hotel room without anyone telling them what was going on. "We'll be fine, Jane." She assured her sister who was just as confused about the whole situation they were currently in, she sat down on the bed where Jane had been sitting since they arrived.

Suddenly the door to the room was opened and two men stepped inside, one was an armed guard but the other was older and was wearing a nice suit. His raven hair was turning grey around the hairline and his face was forming wrinkles, "Hello there. My name is Eric, I apologize about how both of you were brought here but it needed to be done. We have been told how those scientists were preforming experiments in secret, we couldn't let that continue." Eric spoke calmly while also giving the girls a firm look, he didn't want them interrupting him as he spoke. "You both will be taken care of as none of this is your fault, but we will also still be keeping an eye on you. Especially you, Abigail. We don't want anything happening to you," Eric looked at the clone, as far as the Government knew she was the only human clone that worked correctly and was living normally.

"What do you mean? We were fine in lab, we weren't hurting anyone." Abigail spoke up as she didn't trust this man, she had no idea how anyone found out about them. She hated the idea of anyone watching them, they were watched in the lab but it was different because they knew the scientists that were checking on them. "Who are you?" She asked as a frown formed on across her face, "I'm in the Government. You two will be staying here until tomorrow morning," Eric told the girls before he simply turned around and walked back out of the room, the guard following him before the door was shut and the girls were left alone once again. Abigail reached her hand over to Jane's and held on, everything was changing and Abigail hated change.

Jane wanted to believe her sister, but at the same time she didn’t know what to expect out of the world. She had been raised in the labs, and while it much more pleasurable than it sounded, at the same time it limited her outside knowledge. She hadn’t ever thought anyone would be a threat to her or her sister, nor had she ever in her wildest dreams imagined people would rip them away from their home. As the men stepped inside, she eyed them. She longed to beg with him to let them return home, or least let them know the status of those who had raised them. What would happen to the scientists? To Margaret, who taught them to read, or to Dr. Lee, the man who had successfully cloned Jane, and treated the girls very similar to his own. Eric didn’t look like he cared for their questions, though.

She listened closely, making a slightly sour face at fact they’d be watched over. It was reassuring, in a way, that they would taken care of, but that could mean all sorts of things. The man was so curt with them, it did little to make her feel comfortable with the government being in control of their well-being.

Once the man left, Jane let out a deep breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. Squeezing her sister’s hand weakly, she gave Abigail an uneasy look. “What do you think is going to happen to everyone?” She didn’t wait for an answer, though, as she kept speaking. It was a habit she’d always had when she was nervous. She would prattle on, and on, and even interrupt people when thoughts came to her.

“We should have been prepared for this. Not that I’m blaming anyone, it was impossible to know when this could happen, but it would be preposterous to think we would be safe forever. Where are we going to go from here? I don’t even know what they’d do with us. Can you imagine all the tests they’re going to do? Especially on you.” Letting out a frustrated groan, Jane stood, gently releasing her sister’s hand as she walked over towards the hotel room window. She peeked out, frowning when she caught sight of the two guards outside their door. Everything felt so unreal to her.

Abigail turned her head to look at Jane and she opened her mouth to response, although she didn't get a chance to as Jane continued to speak. It was a nervous habit that they didn't seem to share, when Abigail grew nervous she got quite. "No one thought this would happen, Dr. Lee always hired people who he knew would keep this secret." She watched her sister step over to the window, there was nothing either of them could say to make the other feel better right now. "They can try and run tests on us," She had been tested all her life and she grew to deal with it, the scans and blood tests were always taken by Dr. Lee so Abigail didn't feel threatened nor did she feel like she had to fight back.

"I'm sure nothing bad will happen to us, the Government doesn't want the public to think that their horrible." It made sense that the Government would give them whatever they needed, although what they needed were the people who helped raise them. She glanced around the room and found the remote control for the television, she pressed the button and watched as the screen displayed an image. It was breaking news and Abigail's heart sunk as she saw what the news was about, it was about her and Jane. The front door of the lab was flashed across the screen, the camera being zoomed in from where it stood on the driveway. The driveway where Abigail and Jane used to race each other from one end to the next, it was the gravel driveway where Abigail tripped and scrapped both her knees, palms and elbows.

A gasped escaped her lips when she watched the front door open and police officers were pulling along people, people in handcuffs. People that worked in the lab and knew the girls better than anyone, tears welled up in her dark eyes when she noticed Dr. Lee being dragged away to an awaiting police car. "They can't do this, they did nothing wrong." She couldn't believe what she was seeing or hearing, their story was on the news which meant they weren't a secret anymore. People would being hearing about them and the news reporter wasn't saying nice things about the scientists, she was painting them all in this horror light that people who don't know the truth will believe.

But there was nothing she could think of that she could do to fix this or help Dr. Lee and the others, she looked over at Jane to see that she was even more shocked at what they were seeing. All of those scientists were family to the girls, Jane had been abandoned when she was a baby and being a clone meant Abigail was made in those labs.
