Unfair

Amaia headed into the common area for breakfast, her jacket tied around her waist. Her hair was a wild mess as always, taming it was useless and she lacked the time, energy, and patience to work with it. She got in line with Saphira, putting food into her plate, grabbing a mug of cocoa, and heading to a long table. Her mother already went off to work in the hospital wing, and her brother to school. So after she ate, she would go check on the dogs and other animals they had to make sure they were walked, fed, and happy.

She saw a group of boys sitting at the table across from them and noticed them look away. She knew who they were, they studied together when they were all growing up, but she didn't speak to them much. "How many hours do you think you'll have out in the snow today? I've got to make sure each dog gets exercise so I'll have a few hours myself." She murmured, noticing the guys look over at the two of them again.

"They're sending me on a venture, it's my first one - three days to the city then three days back," she said to her, "Apparently this is the first time it hasn't been white out outside in over six months so we're gong to take advantage of it," Saphira said to her with a grin, "I don't know if we're taking dogs or not though,"

Chanyeol rubbed the back of his neck and fixed his reading glassed as he took down notes so he could give it to Minseok.

"Probably," She murmured, eating some of her food. "Three days on foot would be brutal. You're not going alone, do you know who you're going with?" She asked. "I've got a new person I'm training with the animals today, so it's going to be interesting."

Minseok sighed as he looked at the notes. "My first venture they're sending me with Saphira. I've never even talked to her, and I'm going to be alone with her for six days," He said to Chanyeol. "I know I just need to introduce myself but I'm terrified of saying the wrong thing." He said as he looked up to watch her again.

"Dude, six days alone with her... thats long enough to make her your girlfriend," he said shocked, "Go for it, let me live vicariously through you,"

"They're sending me with Minseok," she grinned, "He has a nice butt,"

"Thats if I don't mess it up," Minseok whined a little. "Don't live vicariously through me, let me live vicariously through you, you keep staring, youneed to say something. I'm being forced to speak because of this. Weren't you transferred to animal care?" He asked, looking at his plate.

"He does," Amaia smiled a little. "Not that you'll see him shirtless until you get to town, but I heard that he's built. Like really in shape."

"Same, I've heard the same," she said to her and smiled a little, "can't wait, hopefuly we'll be forced to cuddle or something so I can accidentally touch his abs,"

He smiled,"Yep, and I'll be working with a goddess," he sighed.

She laughed. "Well just mention how cold you are, especially at night. You should also suggest that two sleeping bags put together are warmer and more comfortable than individual ones." She added. "If you do get to feel them though, let me know what they're like. I'm curious." She grinned and then sighed. "Chanyeol is the new edition to Animal Care. Max feels like I know enough to begin running it on my own when he isn't so now I get to start training people." She explained and looked at him across the tables. "He's cute," She shrugged a little.

Minseok smiled. "I'll be traveling with one. It's supposed to get super cold so, I'm going to try to convince her to cuddle me. You know, to conserve energy and warmth." He grinned. "I'm going to try, so do you. Hopefully we're both successful and don't get tongue tied. You've never spoken to her before though, have you?"

"Chanyeol is so sweet, he is kind of a dork but he is adorable," she admitted quietly, "and if I can get my hands under his shirt then we're game and I might try a little... seduction," she said batting her eyelashes.

He shook his head,"No way, why would I? she is out of my league and we have had no association until now!"

She laughed a little. "It would be the perfect opportunity. It's so rare to get an opportunity to be alone with someone, and you've got just under a week. Make it count." She grinned and nodded. "Sweet, dorky, and adorable, I like all of those. While we'll be alone in the warehouse, your situation is far more ideal in the sense of seduction. I doubt I'd get very far with the dogs around us."

"Well she's about to be within reach," He murmured. "Don't let it slip away. I'm going to see if I can at least get Saphira to kiss me. That alone would make my life. Well, sleeping in the same tent is more than what would make it great."

He nodded,"We'll see how it goes, but Im not holding my breath or anything," Chanyeol said to him.

She smiled at her andn odded,'yeah it'll be weird being without our parents but I've been training for this since I was sixteen," she said to her.

"And you'll be with him, you'll be fine. Plus he's hot, which is a plus. If you get lucky while you're gone, it's only a bonus. For both of you, I doubt he'd mind." She murmured.

"At the very least, you need to speak to her, you'll be working with her, alone in a warehouse for hours. Even through lunch," He said to him. "Make it count."

"And you make it count too - no one to stop you from having your cake and eating it too," Chanyeol said wiggling his eyebrows at him.

She nodded a little,"Maybe I will, we'll have to see,"

"I am definitely going to try, and hopefully I'll remember how to speak whe she speaks to me." Minseok laughed a little.

Amaia's alarm went off and she sighed. "Time for doggies, I'll see you later. Good luck, have fun."

She nodded, "I'll see you when I get back," she told her smiled a little as she stood up after she finished eating. She walked to the tackle room where she'd prep their bags with food for them and the dogs while they were out. They were each going to have eight dogs, and would need food for them for a max of eight days in case of an emergency but she was planning for twelve just to be on the safe side. She stacked her sled with the food for the dogs and plenty propane to melt the snow for water to cook any meat they might find from rabbits or deer.

Chanyeol laughed a little in understanding, "Sounds like something we both need to worry about,"

Amaia walked over to the table after tossing her plate and smiled at Chanyeol. "Hi, I'm Amaia. We're working together in Animal Care and I was just about to head over so I thought I'd ask if you wanted to walk over with me."

Minseok raised his eyebrows and then looked at Chanyeol who looked like he was melting. He kicked him under the table and stood, grabbing his plate to go over to prep for the trip. He walked in and stopped a bit short, seeing she was already inside. He walked in and looked around, not knowing what to say to her. "Uh hi," He started, hoping he didn't sound like an idiot.

Chanyeol smiled at her, "Uh, sure yeah," he nodded as he looked at her and stood up.

She looked over and smiled, "Hey," she said to him as she set some things down and pushed a hand through her hair.

"I'm Minseok," He said with a small smile. "I'm...uh... excited to be working with you," He said to her and began gathering his things to distract himself. She was so stunning in person, it almost hurt.

She headed over through the walkways, over to the warehouse. "What made you transfer to Animal Care?" She asked curiously.

She smiled a little, "Me too, I've been anticipating this all day - in a good way of course," she said to him, "So I packed the dog food for your dogs on your sled already - twelve days worth just to be safe," she said to him.

He smiled,"I like dogs, but don't get to see them often where I was working," he said to her.

She nodded a little. "I love animals, so I'm happy to be working with them." She smiled as they walked into the warehouse. "Now we have sixteen dogs going on a venture today, so we need to harness them up and make sure they have extra water before they're sent out." She murmured, going to look at the list of the dogs. "Each dog has a name plate on their door so when I call them out, tell me how much food and water is left in their bowl."

He smiled a little. "Thank you," He said, looking around. "I know the tents and sleeping bag is already packed onto our sleds, and the dogs should be getting ready now." He said, sitting down on a crate and sighing. He was hoping he wasn't boring her, he felt like he was running out of things to say.
