This Might Be A Bad Idea But I Don't Care

Brian sat in his little detached office, grading a few last minute papers. He had put a lot of them off the night before, as he really just wanted to go to bed early. He was glad he did because he felt ten times better than he had the previous day. When the first bell rung, he sighed to himself. "Alright, Haner. Time to get the day started."

She grinned, and nodded as she followed him. She couldn't help but notice just how attractive the man was. She followed him out to his car and slid into the passenger seat when he unlocked it. "You got a nice car, hot shot." She teased.

She groaned as she erased the problem and looked at the example then did exactly what it said, but still got the wrong answer. "What the ever living fuck," she said to herself with a sigh then closed the book,"I hate math," she muttered to herself. Her parents were crazily successful and great at math but her - nope they missed that coding in her DNA.

He smiled a little, "Yeah gotta keep up appearances," he said joking with her a bit as he climbed in and started the car, "It's one of the first things I wanted to buy on my first good check but I figured a house was more reasonable expense,"

Brian went to the front of the classroom to get ready for his first period students. He had big plans for their fall ensemble, so he wanted different vocal exercises being practice to make sure their singing was top notch. He got all of his hand outs ready, placing them on each desk as he waited for them to arrive.

She laughed, "Yeah having a roof on over your heard is slightly more important then getting a nice car. But this one is nice. I've always wanted a Challenger."

When the doors opened she walked into the school and headed to her locker, she dropped off her books she didn't need then headed to her first period - then she had a free study hall. She was the first student in class, "Good morning," she said as she looked at him - "Do we have assigned seats or?" she trailed off.

He smiled, "I like this one, it's a good one - it's newer so it has a lot of tech," he smiled a bit, "but yeah bought a house and its nice, three bedrooms nothing crazy,"

He smiled at her and shook his head, "Nah," he chuckled. "We don't have too many strict rules in this class. You can sit where ever you feel most comfortable at." He pointed at one of the hand outs, "That piece of paper is going to be very useful for you, so don't lose it."

"Shit," she laughed, "Still more than I have yet to see. I'm still living in a studio apartment in L.A. But, I'm not complaining." She grinned. "I have a roof over my head and that is enough for me."

she nodded,"Cool," she said and took the paper then took a seat, "it's too early to exist," she said to him huffing a little bit then licked her lips as she looked over the packet. Zoey was always informed, especially when it came to music.

He smiled a little,"Studios are nice, I used to live in one and it was pretty homey," he said to her as he drove and parked at a cafe.

Brian chuckled at her comment, greeting other students as they came in. When the class had been seated and the late bell rung, he nodded, "Alright class," he started. "On each of your desks you will find a hand out. I want you all to look it over very carefully. These are the new warm ups will be be starting today, in order to prepare for the fall. I need you to not only do these in class, but practice these at home as well. I want everyone's voice to grow stronger and be as finely tuned as it can be by October."

She bit her lip momentarily and nodded as they both got out of the vehicles. "Yeah, my apartment is one of the nicer ones. I still would love to have a backyard so I can get a puppy."

Zoeqy lookqeqdq over the warm ups and licked her lips, she was kind of excited for this classemester but she'd never seen so many kids who looked bored in music class before. They all looked disimterested, but there was a few girls who were only here for Mr. Haner's obvious good looks.

He smiled a little as he looked at her,"what kind of puppy?" He asked her as he looked at her curiously as he ordered a sweet tea.

"Alrighty," Brian said as he rubbed his hands together as he paced a little. "So we still need to see who is going to take the spots for the solos. We have three slots available. Is anyone ready to perform their chosen song?" He looked around at his students, only seeing a few hands raised.

She grinned at him after she ordered her water with lemon, her eyes brightening up. "I really, really, really want a Boxer puppy."

Chris smiled a littlw,"Boxers seem like good dogs," he said as he looked at her and sipped his drink again. "I'm more of a lab kind of guy," he admitted as he looked at her

She smiled a little as she listened to him talk one girl raised her hand and told him what song she wanted to sing. If Zoey sang today she knew what song she wanted to song.

Brian nodded at the students answer, "Did you wanna preform it today?" He held bad an exasperated sigh as she shook her head no very quickly. He clapped his hands together, "Alright... does anyone have a song picked out that they would like to preform today [/i?" His eyes scanned the room and landed on Zoey. "Zoey, I know your new, but do you have a song you might like to preform to show your skills?"

Ari nodded her head. She always like any kind of dogs to be quite honest. "Labs are really good dogs. I just want a companion to be quite honest. Gets lonely sometimes."

She nodded,"sure, I can sing today," she said with a smallnile, shy she was not when it came to crowds. "I'm going to sing with arms wider open by creed " she said smiling a little,"is that okay?"

He nodded a little as he opened the food he wanted,"yeah I can get that, it gets lonely sometimes living the single life, " he said lightly, he hadn't been on a date in years, it sucked but he didn't mind the silence.

Brian nodded as he sat down off to the side to allow her to stand in front of the class and sing. He crosses his arms over his chest and watched as she made her way to the front of the class. He gave her her cue and placed a hand on his chin as she started to sin the first few notes. Holy hell that girl has a set of pipes.

Ari picked at her salad, eating the cherry tomatoes out first. She nodded in agreement. It was lonely at times, but she did have a few friends to keep her company. "How is a guy like you still single? You have plenty of women chasing you."

Everyone in the class just stared at her as she sang they seemed to be in shock, when she finished the song she smiled at him then went to her seat. "Well i guess she'll get all three solos then,"a girl whoned," none of us can top that!!" The girl whined dramatically.

"They're not chasing for the right reasons, besides if I'm not interested in th it'd be wrong to lead her on" he said to her as he licked his lips.

Brian stood up and clapped. He was speechless. He hadn't had a student in his class who could sing that welll in almost four years. "Settle down everyone," He spoke. "There are plenty of you who could have strong voices of you practiced. But very well done, Zoey, I'm impressed."

Ari gave him a small smile, respecting his honesty. "Not many men have that mentality, that's very gentleman like of you, Chris." She ate a few more bites of her salad, trying to finish the whole thing but there was so much of it.

She gave a small nod then looked around, it helped she'd been having lessons for then years. With work some of the kids in her class could even be better than her.

He smiled a little,"I try to keep it honest, I don't want to break hearts, " he said with a small shrug,"besides if neither of us is happy then it's not worth it in the end,"

Brian was really struck by the way Zoey has preformed. While he instructed the rest of the class period, he couldn't get her or the performance out if his head. Right before the releasing bell rung he aooke, "alright, tomorrow I expect some of you to be ready to perform a song. We are already a month in and if you expect to get a solo you need to try out."

Ari gave him a small smile, he was right. She appreciated his honesty. It was often that men were that way. "It's good you feel that way, I bet it keeps you out if trouble."

She smiled a little and chewed on her lip, she wondered if that had been her trying out. She didn't want all the solos she was sure some of the other people in her class would do an exceptional job. She packed her bag and waited for the bell to ring, he seemed like a very laid back teacher and this led her to believe this year was going to be awesome

He smiled a little,"What about you, are you seeing anyone?"he asked her as he finished his drink, he was curious about her. It had beven a while since he'd had a conversation with a want that hadn't ended in her trying to date him.

Brian watched the young girl out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't often that he found himself wanting find out more about his students, but part of him wanted to know how she had a voice like that. Did she have lessons? How long had she been singing for? Does it run in the family? Brian Haner, for whatever the reason, wanted to know the answers.

She shook her head as she sipped at her water, "That would be a negative. I haven't been in a relationship for over a year or so. Last one only lasted a few months if that." She chewed on the inside of her lip as she looked back down at the table.
