wrong side of heaven

Constance walked out of the RV they had stopped again so they could get supplies, she held her bat on her shoulder looking around for any walkers. The last thing they needed was a bunch of them surrounding them, being in the city had been scary enough. She walked over to a car on the side of the road, "We can get gas outta this one - it's got three fourths of a tank," she said tapping the window as she opened it and looked in the back seat before checking the glove box. She found a handgun and a clip to go with it, "Another gun!" she said kind of excited, they never had enough bullets as far as she was concerned.

"Thats great, Con," Rick said as he walked over and she handed it to him, even though she was professionally trained by Shane back home they didn't want anyone else holding guns which annoyed her, but she followed the rules. "Anything else?" he asked her curiously as he leaned on the door.

"Some blankets back here and a pillow - smells okay in here so we can take it, "and a box of nutri bars," she said holding up the box with a small smile as she popped the trunk then got out of the car to check it out, "More blankets, oil, transmission fluid, soaps for the car, a car jack, crow bar is useful and some canned foods, and a gallon of water," she said to him.

"This stuff has been here a while it's a bit dusty," she said to him and Rick nodded.

"Alright, lets take it we're gonna need it," he said to her as he rubbed the back of his neck, "Check that car over there, we need to take it for parts," he said looking at Daryl who nodded.

"Shane, can you help Con out she is going to check the inside of these cars," he said as he carried the items she'd found to the RV and passed out some of the food to everyone because he knew they were hungry - he couldn't let them go too long without food.

Nodding his head, Shane walked over to Constance to help her. When he got to her he opened the car door up and checked it for walkers. Not seeing anything he began searching through the car. Finding random materials that they needed. Blankets, pillows, motor oil, windshield washer fluid, crow bar, canned food. He put it all into the bag he had and tossed it onto his back and walked over to Constance.

"Find anything useful?" He questioned her and smiled at her as he stood by the car she was searching through.

Shane glanced from Constance's ass as he saw his younger sister come around a beat up pickup holding a bag of supplies. "Got some useful things." She waved the bag lightly.

Shane chuckled and saw Constance pull herself out of the car. He looked at her and gave her a smile.

She shook her head, "But we can get the gas out of it, not much left but it's better than nothing," she said to him, "I got some note books and pens, which is good for like knowing where we've been or leaving notes for people who come through here; maybe even keeping track of important events," she said to him shrugging.

Think we should start being more responsible on keeping track of time, "Last time I remembered what day it was was a while ago now," she said to him as she opened the trunk, "Spare tire - thats useful, half a pint of oil," she murmured.

"A new tool set," she smiled, "Very useful," she said to him, "It's so hot," she whined a little.

Rick smiled a little," When you find stuff Lace just put it over here Carol and Andrea can organize it and decide what goes where," he said to her with a small smile.

Shane looked at Constance and frowned a little, "I do agree it's a bit warmer today than it's been in a while." He wiped the sweat off his forehead and sighed a little. He took the things over to the women and helped Constance get the gas out of the vehicle. Every little bit helped them out right now.

"Just a few more vehicles." He said to her as they walked towards a car with her to help her out best he could with everything. He couldn't help himself. She was gorgeous, and for the longest time he could remember. He had a thing for her. Just, he kept it to himself.

Lacey looked at Rick when he mentioned her name as she nodded her head. She handed the bag to Carol and smiled going back towards the vehicles. She began digging through another one. She found various items as she saw the gas hand in it. Finding a gas jug near her, she began to cifer it out. They'd definitely need all the gas they could get in the long run.

She took the items over to Andera this round and went towards Rick, "Need any help?" She asked him giving him a warm smile.

Constance sighed, nodding. She couldn't wait for it to start cooling off a bit, spring and fall would be her favorite seasons. "Oh look, seeds," she said holding up the small box of vegetable seeds, "We should keep these just in case," she said to him as she licked her lips.

"Might come in handy," she said to him then walked to the next car, "So, when do you think we'll settle, I know you're all about going to fort benning but something about a military base doesn't sit right with me,"

She had seen movies where aliens invaded and the police had restricted civilian movement and did unspeakable things just cause they could; she didn't want to chance that shit becoming a reality.

He nodded,"Sure, come with me, I'm going to load the station wagon with the pillows and blankets, maybe we can stop somewhere and rest for a while," he offered, "I know everyone is tired and hot - sleeping out side at night might be more relaxing if we have shelter. "

"Maybe we could put the cars around us in a circle or something to block out walkers and have someone keep watch on the RV," he offered to her.

Shrugging his shoulders he sighed looking at Constance, "Honestly I have no idea. Rick's idea to go to the fort along with mine." He paused licking his lips and rubbing his forehead sighing at the hottness of the heat.

"Guess when we hit the fort, that's when we'll settle." He said truthfully to her walking along side of her.

Lacey nodded her head to Rick at his idea. It was really a good idea. "That actually may work, Rick. I saw a clearing not far off the highway." She paused rubbing the back of her neck lightly.

"It may just work. Country feeling, relaxing. Have the cars surrounded the little camping site we make. It'd be good on the kids for them to rest." She pointed to Carl and Sophia.

Constance walked along side of Shane going to the last car and sighed as she listened to him talk, Constance knew what world they lived in now; and it scared her. She knew realistically they wouldn't be able to settle down for a while, people were her main concern and sure walkers were scary in large groups but overall they were predictable. "I just want to keep Carl safe, the last thing I need is to worry about him," she said to him softly.

He nodded a little, "We all need to stretch out and if we keep everyone within the cars we should be able to set up our tents and stuff," he said as he saw T-Dog and Daryl getting the gas from the cars, hopefully that lasted them a while. He reminded them to strip them for parts too - like the seatbelts for rope and the rubber tubes going to the radiator for the RV and the car batteries as well - those would be more than useful.

Shane nodded his head knowing where Constance was coming from. He gently took her hands into his own and gave her a light smile. "I promised Rick and I promise you. I'll keep you and Carl safe. Nothing will harm either of you. I promise." Shane promised her before letting her hands go. He looked towards the sky noticing it'd be getting dark soon. "Rick it's going to be getting dark soon, we should be finding somewhere's for the night." He said to Rick.

Lacey heard her brother speak to Rick as she nodded in agreement with Shane. She saw Sophia and Carl sitting on the hood of a car together. She walked over smiling at the two as she gave them some water. "We're going to get you guys a place to relax tonight." She told the two youngsters and smiled. She had no earthly idea. But she had a motherly instinct towards the two of them. She looked back at Shane and Constance and smiled at them.

Shane sighed hearing Constance talking about the true safety. He couldn’t help but to wonder when she’d fully trust that he’d keep her safe. He’d loved her for so long he couldn’t help to feel the need to protect her. He looked at his younger sister with the kids and smiled lightly.

He took and snapped out of his thoughts hearing Rick speaking. He nodded his head to Rick and agreed with what he was saying.

Lacey heard Rick and saw him look at her as she nodded her head. “Some of us women can take the kids tomorrow morning and check some of the cars local near us.” Lacey replied to Rick to see him nod.

Lacey went back to playing with Carl and Sophie as she smiled at the two. She had felt a motherly protection towards Carl since everything had happened to their world and it had come to an end with a mere amount of survivors.

Shane took and got Daryl to help him move another car in front of their small camp site. He took and went with Daryl as they moved another trying to get it blocked off the best they could.

Lacey took and looked at Carol and Constance. The three of them moved another car to help the men out. She wiped the sweat from her forehead letting a soft sigh escape her lips.
