Evannia was a reluctant person - always having to take a moment to think things through. In the dire time she found herself in, she had to make some quick decisions without weighing out the pros and cons. Her grandmother, Anniya, thug her to always evaluate situations... But she was also the reason why Evannia was in this mess.

Until recently, Evannia didn't know that her mother was what she was. She'd always play tricks on the younger girl, but the brunette always brushed it off... Turns out, Anniya was a Trickster - one of those things that can warp reality and all that. Anniya was the strongest of her age, and her abilities would be passed down onto Evannia tomorrow night.... And that's why she was making rash decisions.

Currently, she was crouching behind a dumpster, trying to steady her breathing and he rapidly beating heart. She was being chased by something supernatural - a group of them, ten at the most.

"Please, someone help me... Oh god, someone help me..." She whispered into her bruised and bloody hands, as she heard footsteps. Proceeding to run depper into the alley, she ran straight into someone - and she feared it wasn't one of those bad guys.

Gabriel had tried his very best to stay out of personal conflicts - anyone that grew too close to him was a potential liability. A potential weak spot where someone could get revenge on him. Whether that be one of his brothers or a victim who hadn't taken too kindly to his tricks, Gabriel didn't care. Life was easier when he avoided potential complications. To have to deal with them himself, he wasn't a fan. It was better if he was the cause of the problems, not the one to suffer from.

Debts had been paid off a fairly long time ago but there was one person in the entirety of the world, both heaven and hell included, that Gabriel would forever. Anniya had taught him how to control his otherworldly powers. Before her, he had known what he was capable of but she had brought him a sort of inner peace that he could never hope to repay. Distance had been put between the two by Gabriel but there was an unspoken promise - if he was needed, he would drop everything and come to Anniya's aid.

What Gabriel hadn't been expecting was to receive a letter written by Anniya, stating that by the time it arrived to him, she would have passed. There was one final request that she would hope to make - Evannia needed protection. Evannia needed to be taught the same things that Anniya had taught him. Gabriel had been skeptical at first but when he reached the end where a simple 'please' had been etched, Gabriel's mind was made up.

Gathering his things didn't take long. Gabriel set out shortly after, intent on location Evannia. Tracking her down hadn't proved very difficult at all which only meant that others had to be on her trail. Discarding his belongings at a local motel, Gabriel changed into a pair of black jeans and a black button down. Blood showed up less on dark clothing, it made for an easier clean up.

Roving between the buildings, in a dark alley, was when Gabriel heard the first cry. He stopped dead in his tracks, eyes narrowing as he listened to the sounds that came from not far off. Turning and heading to the right, Gabriel let out an breath of air as a body ran straight into him. Gabriel looked down to the girl and didn't need to question it one bit - he had found Evannia. She looked just like her grandmother. He looked up, to the group of creatures running straight for them and let out a growl.

"Stay behind me," he spat the words through gritted teeth, shoving her behind him.

Anniya was everything to the brunette - ever since her parents abandoned her, Anniya took care of Evannia. It was a massive blow and a shock to her when she was called from her University that she had passed in her sleep. The Uni allowed her to take the week off, but after the things that had happened with these creatures, she was sure she wasn't going back.

She had been running for what seemed ages, her legs ached and her feet throbbed - but she couldn't stop. When she ran into the mysterious man, she let out a small gasp thinking it was one of the things chasing her.. But from the brief look she got of his face before she was pushed behind made her know he wasn't a bad person.

Evannia found a picture of her beloved Grandmother Anniya with a mysterious man, that seemed to fit this guy. She had quite a photographic memory, and the caramel coloured eyes and facial structure... She knew he was the one in the picture.

Letting out a shaky breath, she looked at the gang of creatures stare at the man, half in shock and half in anger. Tears pricked at her eyes, as she fought back the tears.

Somehow she felt safe, even though she didn't know the man. She was sure he was in Anniya's pictures, so that's probably why she felt... Less at risk. Timidly, she hid behind the man, her hand gripping the bottom of his shirt to give her a feeling of protection.

Gabriel wasn't keen on physically fighting. It was easy to snap his fingers and send someone elsewhere, it was easy to play a trick and get away. But Gabriel felt a growing sense of anger that someone had targeted Anniya's granddaughter.

Normally a raised eyebrow and a glare from him was enough to scatter creatures, the ones that knew better anyway. It appeared that none of them knew.

Raising his eyes to the sky, Gabriel offered a slight shrug before return his attention to the creatures that were moving closer and closer.

Body tensing, Gabriel urged Evannia to back further away. He raised his hand and with a pushing motion, the creatures flew backward. He twisted around, lifted Evannia into his arms without a word, and snapped his fingers.

It was only a moment's time before they were in the motel room he had rented just a bit ago. Gabriel set Evannia down on the bed, stepping back to give her space.

    "Are you hurt anywhere?"

Everything happened so fast for the younger female. One second she was in that alleyway, the next second she was in a rather dimly lit room. She looked around quickly, but seeing it was just a hotel room, she felt her shoulders relax.

Upon hearing his words, Evianna looked at him instantly, and shook her head slightly, mouth slightly ajar. Realising she was staring, Evianna gulped a lump forming in her throat and spoke in a soft voice.

"You were in her pictures... Who are you?"

Her voice was no more than a whisper.... Could she trust this man? Sure, he saved her life and he was in grandma's pictures.... But could she trust him?

She didn't know, but so far everything seemed to be normal. Apart from the fact they pretty much just teleported.

Her eyes cast down to her clothing - ripped, scuffed, and embedded with blood and dirt. "S-Sorry, but do you have a spare shirt?" She questioned, pulling at the fabric at the bottom of her white shirt nervously,

Gabriel said nothing in response to her initial question. He turned toward his bag and searched through it before he produced one of his smaller shirts, along with a pair of sweatpants. He thrust both at her before motioning toward the bathroom. "Tie the string tight, we'll get you better clothes tomorrow."

His mind was racing a mile a minute, trying to figure out what he should be doing. He was used to caring for himself and only himself. Watching her disappear into the bathroom, Gabriel took a seat at the small table in the corner.

"Are you hungry?" Gabriel asked as soon as she reappeared. Of course she was... Gabriel muttered under his breath and moved over to the nightstand, producing a small binder with a list of various places they could order from. He tossed this onto the bed for her to look at.

"Tell me what you want and I'll order it. Doesn't matter what," he said, returning to his seat at the small table.

"Once you get a chance to eat, I'll answer your questions. You need food and rest," Gabriel spoke, glancing her way.

Evianna was conflicted. She felt her anxieties build up - and it made her swallow a lump forming in her throat. The girl didn't know this man - she didn't know his intentions, and that scared her. Even though she knew Anniya knew him, she still wasn't completely comfortable.

She didn't even offer a glance at the book on the bed, her eyes were fixated on the ground. Evianna couldnt bring herself to eat around others, hence why she ate in her room instead of with Anniya.

Now she wished she spent more time with her since she has now passed.

"I'm not hungry.... T-Thanks for the offer." Glancing up, she offered him a weak smile - cheeks stained from her previous tears and dirt. "I don't eat much real food, I settle for things from the sweet side compared to the savoury side."

Evianna was absolutely tired - all that running took it out of her. She'd probably fall asleep, though she didn't want to as the man might disappear before she awoke, with no answers to her questions

Gabriel bit back a curse - glaring up at the ceiling for a moment. Was there really a need to feed her? There was if he wanted her to be strong.

"Order a dessert then, I don't care. You're tired and you just went through a lot by the looks of it. You need food and you need rest," Gabriel answered with a slight edge to his voice. There wasn't going to be much room for argument for her. "Figure out what you want," he spoke again, pointing toward the binder again. "It's better you pick something than I do and you not want it at all."

Once he was satisfied that she understood, Gabriel made his way to the bathroom. He disappeared within, only to reappear with a wet cloth in hand. He knelt beside her, holding it out to her. "Here, unless you want to take a shower now."

Evianna didn't like this at all. She hated feeling defenseless - and this was the current situation. The mysterious guy didn't let her protest, so she felt on edge... Who was this man?

Either way, she couldn't deny the hunger in her stomach. She sat on the bed and picked up the binder, and scrutinized the many choices and flipped to the desert section. Her small fingers were shaking, as she picked out a rather ravishing sounding desert - a dark and white chocolate soufflé. a

When he came out of the bathroom, she hesitated before rolling her shoulders with a wince. "I think I'll take a shower while the food comes..."

She'd lock the door and be paranoid the whole way through the shower, but to be honest, she had dirt everywhere... And not to mention a few gashes she wanted to look at in private on her lower back and her abdomen. Evianna wasn't going to tell this man, she never liked to bug people with her issues.

Gabriel didn't bother to look at the menu for more than a moment, picking the first thing that looked even remotely appetizing to him. He called in on the room's phone. Hanging up just as Evianna mentioned a shower, he shook his head.

"No. Your wounds need to be tended to before that," he answered as if reading her mind. Gabriel moved back over to his bags. He pulled out a first aid kit and carried it over to her. Gabriel knelt beside her, using the wet cloth to reach up to wipe away the dirt on her face.

"Relax. Your grandmother wouldn't have sent for me if you couldn't trust me," Gabriel muttered, trying to contain his frustration. He knew they shouldn't be lingering and he had half the mind to teleport straight out of the state. But he wasn't sure how Evianna would react to it and surely, if this was to work out, she needed to not absolutely hate his guts.

Gabriel looked up to her with a slight frown. This was going to be a problem, he could already tell. "Take your shirt off, please. I need to see what state your wounds are in."
