  • (This is a horrible starter, I'm sorry!)

Moving was the last thing that Aria wanted to deal with - especially moving to some gated community. But, her father wasn't giving her a choice, not after she'd gotten in trouble in the city. Plus, apparently, this was a good job opportunity for him. He was getting the chance to be the chief of police in this area, something he probably wouldn't have even hoped for back home. That didn't make Aria any more pleased about this, though, because she was being forced to leave behind the life she had back in the city - her friends, her school, the parties. All of it would be gone, because she'd be stuck in some uppity community where she was sure everybody was full of themselves.

As they approached their new home, she let out a sigh as she climbed out of the car. She didn't bother talking to her dad, as she was sure that he knew quite well how displeased she was with this and the silent treatment always seemed to guilt trip him. Maybe it would work well enough that he would let them move back home. Probably not; he seemed pretty intent on this new life, this boost in his career. And maybe he figured that dragging her away from all of her 'troublemaking friends' would do her a world of wonder. Just thinking about that made her roll her eyes, but she moved to get a few of her boxes anyways.

At least the house looked nice from the outside. She glanced around the neighborhood, a little relieved that the houses weren't bunched together. Granted, they were still close, but at least they weren't so close that it was ridiculous. Eventually, though, her father moved to unlock the door and she slipped inside, prepared to find and choose a room - not that there were many options. Being the only child, there were only three rooms - the master room, for her parents, and two other rooms, one of which would likely be a guest room for if family visited or if her parents allowed her friends to come visit at some point. She was doubtful of that, though. After setting the boxes down in the room she chose, she went back out to gather more.

  • Julian had only briefly heard that a new family was moving into the community, a few days prior to the move in date. The day before they were to move in, he had heard something that alarmed him. They were humans, they weren't of any supernatural descent. Humans among a community that Julian had willingly joined to keep away from them, to keep out of trouble. Now humans were invading his home. He wasn't too sure how he felt about the idea so he left it alone - he wasn't in charge of the community here. If the elders of the species' thought it was a good idea, Julian would have to just let it be. His place wasn't to fight them, it was to follow the rules laid out before joining.

With nothing better to do with his day, Julian had showered and eaten a healthy breakfast with eggs and sausage and perhaps the most pathetic looking pancakes known to the world. The new family would be arriving soon, they would have a large amount of things to unload from their trucks and so, with a large thermos of water, Julian headed toward the house that had recently been sold. To the first family of humans meant to make their home among his community. He was interested in learning about them at the very least.

Approaching the home, Julian wasn't surprised to see that they had recently arrived. He approached Aria's father, assuming that he was in charge. "Welcome to our community," he spoke, offering the man a slight smile. "Can I help with unloading things for you?"

  • (This is a little shorter, sorry! I'm going to get some sleep, though, and I'll reply to the other when I wake up.)

Aria's father was mildly surprised to find somebody greeting them so quickly upon arrival. Still, he offered a smile - one that was stern but attempted to be casual - and nodded. "Thank you. I'm Charles. My wife is inside, she's Lauren. And my daughter -" he began, though Aria cut him off as she approached the car to get another box. "I'm Aria. And, if you really want to help, you can convince my dad to take us back to the city," she drawled out, glancing to the guy for a moment as she took in his features. He was attractive, to say the least. If she was going to be stuck in a place like this that seemed far too boring, at least there was a cute neighbor nearby.

Grabbing the box, she made her way back inside, though her father sighed. "I apologize. She's not very happy with this. I hope she hasn't offended you in some way," he said, his smile now strained before he moved to grab a box himself. "But, aside from what she said - if you do wish to help, I wouldn't mind some help with some of the heavier things. I would rather avoid the ladies having to get hurt in the process of trying to help with them." He wasn't generally the type to look down on women, but he was very protective of his wife and daughter and wanted to avoid them having to do something unnecessary. Even if the man didn't help, Charles would likely handle the heavier things on his own without telling Lauren or Aria.

  • (no worries!! my apologies on taking so long Arms the last two days have been awful)

Julian held out a hand, knowing that it was a customary habit for humans upon introductions. He had always found it so strange, such a thing didn't tell him anything about the being he had just met, what good would it do? He would have much preferred to pull Charles in at the shake of his hand, nose at him just long enough to gather enough about him. What type of person was he? But not knowing whether Charles was aware of the creatures within the community or not, Julian wanted to be safer than sorry. He didn't want to be the one responsible for outing creatures to the rest of the world - what would that make him? He wasn't certain of a word for it but he knew enough to know that wasn't a desirable label. Eyes averted to Aria when the girl interrupted her father, he was alarmed to know she was so ready to show blatant disrespect in front of a complete stranger. But he knew nothing of their customs, again, and so he just raised an eyebrow.

"No offense taken, I assure you," Julian spoke slowly, careful to keep the confusion from his voice. He didn't want to offend her just as much as Charles didn't want the same. He nodded, choosing to set his bottle down on the lawn just out of the walk way. Easy to grab when he needed it. "Course. I wouldn't have it any other way," Julian answered, prepared to help Charles with whatever he needed. While the females of his pack were strong in their own right, there was still a sort of hierarchy where the men did the hard work. The woman were the homebodies, the ones that cared for the home and reared the children. "Just tell me what you need," he said, a slight grin on hsi features as he shrugged his shoulders. "A little bit of hard work never hurt anyone."

  • (No worries! Sorry for taking so long myself!)

Charles was more than a little relieved to see that their neighbor was willing to help him with the things that his wife and daughter couldn't help with. He hadn't entirely expected to receive help - though he hadn't really been expecting for any rudeness, either. But, still, it was a nice change from the city, regardless of whether he expected it or not. "I think the furniture is the only thing we'll need help with," he told the man with a small nod. "It's not much. Just bed frames, mattresses and a few dressers." They were planning to get new sofas and a new dining room table set. The only things they had brought were what they would need immediately.

As her father and the man talked, Aria busied herself with unpacking what clothes she could - those thay could be hung up in the closet. It didn't take long and, really, it could have waited until after everything was inside but she was hoping to prolong the time before she would have to go back outside. The longer she took, the more likely it would be thay the man would be gone. When she finally went outside to get another box, though, that didn't seem to be the case at all. "Still here? Aren't introductions done yet?" she asked with a sigh, though Charles shook his head slightly. "Speaking of introductions, I don't think I got your name?" Charles asked.
