We Ain't Ever Getting Older

Dean had just been about to head out of the parking lot when Raelynn's voice stopped him in his checks. He slammed on the brakes, whirling around to face her with a deep frown. "But they didn't forget the pies, right? I mean, we can't just not have dessert," Dean exclaimed as if it was the simplest concept to him. It was, because dessert had been something he always made sure to have once he was an adult. Once he had a little more control over his life.

When Raelynn assured him that the had the pies, Dean pulled off, heading in the direction of the motel they were staying at. He was relatively silent for the rest of the ride, still debating on whether he should get a separate room or not. He pulled up to the hotel, letting out a yawn as he climbed out of the Impala. He reached into the back, grabbing their booze before straightening. "Grab the food," he muttered, heading toward the room. Dean unlocked the door, keeping it open with his foot as he waited for her.

Raelynn fought the urge to narrow her eyes at Dean when he made her grab the food, but she kept herself together. She kept reminding herself that she only had to last a couple days, at the most, with Dean. Even though she had told Sam that she would come back with them, Raelynn figured it probably wasn’t a good decision.

Once inside the room, Raelynn divided out all of the food. She took her sandwich and the bottle of whiskey over to her makeshift bed on the couch and got comfortable. Dean seemed to be in a better mood when Raelynn kept her mouth shut, so she opened back up her laptop and went back to surfing the web while eating her food and getting a buzz from the liquor.

Dean was quick to pour himself a bit of scotch into one of the provided cups in the motel room. He sat at the table in the corner, perching over the calzone. He ripped off a piece and began to eat silently, taking a sip of his scotch every so often. The air grew think as time wore on and Dean would shift around, uncomfortable but unwilling to do anything to break the tension. He let out a quiet sigh, running a hand through his hair after finishing off the first bit of his food.

Sam cleared his throat, looking between Rae and Dean. "Since this case shouldn't take very much time, I went ahead and found us another case that's a day and a half worth of driving but it's not that bad," Sam mentioned, hoping to break up the tension that was still lingering in the room. "It's out toward the Grand Canyon so I thought we could even do some sightseeing. I've always wanted to see it and I mean.." he trailed off with a shrug of his shoulders.

After hearing Sam’s words, initially Raelynn was stoked. They never took out the time to do sightseeing; there was always so many places that Raelynn thought would be worth taking some time out to see. But, after the initial excitement hit, then settled the fear. That would mean more time with Dean. Raelynn wasn’t an idiot, she could see written all over Dean’s face just how much he didn’t want anything to do with her. So why suscept Sam to Dean’s wrath by sticking around?

Instead of fighting it, Raelynn finished her food. “That sounds like a great idea, Sam. You and I always wanted to go see the Grand Canyon. Maybe we can even take pictures and all that cool shit.”

Sam nodded, all too eager when Raelynn expressed some sort of excitement over visiting the Grand Canyon. Dean wasn't much for seeing the sights and Sam couldn't really blame his brother but it was nice for him to have someone around that could appreciate them with him. "Yeah, we totally should. Even if we never actually ended up getting the pictures developed or any of that shit, it's still something for memories, right?"

Dean scoffed and Sam only tossed a glare over his shoulder before returning his attention to Rae. "Even if we are hunters, damnit, we deserve to have fun at some point," Sam finished off his statement with a nod of his head as if to affirm what he was saying. "Even with a grumpy bastard tagging along with us."

"We can more important things to be doing than sightseeing, forgive me for understanding that," Dean snapped, rolling his eyes as he turned away from the pair.
