Meet You In the Stars Tonight

Crowley let out a low laugh and then scoffed, looking at her incredulously. Had she known why exactly he had sold his soul she would understand. Or so at least he hoped. “Of course not, love. I don’t regret anything I have done.”

Crowley scanned the horizon before him, taking in the sights, smells, and sounds of what was once his youth. Sure a bit had changed, but this spot in particular remained untouched. “Everything happens for a reason.” He shrugged, his mouth turning downward for a moment in a half frown. “Can’t change anything I have done.”

Jenny couldn't understand why Crowley wouldn't go back but she also didn't know what he had faced as a child. Maybe the things he faced on Earth were even worse than what he faced once he sold his soul. She opened her mouth to ask, only to shut it abruptly when she decided she couldn't ask him. It was far too personal between a pair of beings who just barely trusted one another.

"Just because you can't change, doesn't mean that there aren't things that you wouldn't change if you were given the chance," Jenny argued after a moment, giving a shrug of her shoulders. "But I suppose the way you look at it is good as well."

Jenny shook her head, clearing her throat as she turned toward him. "Where have you never gone before?"

Crowley enjoyed this more than he probably should have. He loved the way that Jenny looked as she sat there intently scanning her surroundings. He watched as her pupils would dilate when she saw something she particularly enjoyed and how they would retract when she pulled them away. He wanted her to look at him like that. He wanted to whisk her down to hell, maker her his Queen, and ravish her for everything she was worth.

But of course that would have to wait.

Crowley was so busy studying the girl that he almost missed her question. Hell, he had already missed the first half of everything she was saying. Crowley straightened himself up a bit as he thought. “Not really sure there is anywhere I haven’t been that I would want to go to. Where else do you desire to travel to, love?”

Jenny was naive enough that she missed the way that Crowley would look at her every so often. Or if she did notice it, she didn't realize why he was looking at her so intently. She shivered a bit as she pulled her coat tighter around her body, chewing on the inside of her bottom lip.

"I... dunno?" Jenny spoke, shrugging her shoulders. "Travelling hadn't really been an option for me before so I didn't think about it," she said. She didn't really see the point in wondering what it would be like to see places that she would probably never see any time soon. It was only setting herself up for disappointment, after all.

"We should go somewhere tropical. That's where people always want to go, isn't it?"

Crowley smirked at her suggestion. He was surprised that her change of heart was happening so quickly. Yet, he knew she was also trying to just appease him. He wasn’t going to let her off the hook that fast. He knew she had had one hell of a day, and she was more so in need of rest then what he thought.

“Why don’t we cool it with the traveling for a bit, doll. Allow me to take you to a much better apartment then they one you are currently dwelling in, yeah?” He suggested, holding his hand out to help her up. “I’m sure you want to relax a bit, love.”

Jenny eyed the offered hand warily before she took, pulling herself to her feet. She looked around for a moment longer, trying to paint the picture into her memory should she never get the chance to return here again. Though she suspected that if she was with Crowley for a long enough time, they would likely return back here.

"Sure. Take me wherever," Jenny answered with a nod of her head. "So long as we keep to the same rules. If I can't get there with an airplane, I don't want to go."

In the blink of an eye Crowley had her standing in the foyer of the penthouse. He had looked through houses with in the past couple of weeks. Crowley normally had the tendency to get too sure of himself and take a leap of faith on things he wasn’t a hundred percent on. But he had a different feeling about Jenny.

“I’ve had some minions collect your belonging from your other place, that way you can feel more at home.” Crowley stated. “I need you to be safe since you are going to be tagging along with me, you know that right?” Crowley wasn’t sure that she knew anything pertaining to what this “relationship” was going to entail, but he was going to make sure she eventually got it.

Jenny's eyes widened as they appeared in the penthouse, looking around with wide eyes, only to freeze at Crowley's words. She felt a swell of anger in her belly but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. She was still in the company of a demon, that much was obvious. Instead, she forced a smile to her lips as she nodded. "Thank you, I appreciate it."

Glancing around again, Jenny only slowed once she was facing Crowley. "What do you mean by safe?" She asked, her eyes narrowing a bit. "Safe from what, exactly?"

“For starters,” Crowley began as he made his way into the kitchen. He pulled out a scotch glass and then snapped his fingers, the finest scotch filling the glass. “You’re a human and you hanging out with the king of hell? That certainly will make some different type of people jealous, wouldn’t you agree?”

Crowley took a swig from the glass, his eyes still lingering on Jenny. “Plus, after the incident I caught you in this evening, and how terribly you seemed to handle it… I would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to you, to be blunt at best, darling.”

Jenny lingered in the doorway to the kitchen, chewing on her bottom lip as she watched Crowley move. She shuffled forward reluctantly, grabbing a glass to fill with water from the tap. She didn't want to go snooping in the king of hell's kitchen. Each time he mentioned his title, it made Jenny wary all over again.

Leaning against the counter, Jenny crossed her arm over her body before sipping at her water. "It's the first time that I've ever experienced something like that. I don't... I didn't know what to do. Next time, I won't take a short cut through the middle of a park. It's simple, really. Isn't it?"

After finishing his glass of liquor, Crowley set it down onto the counter. He watched as she warily walked through the kitchen, a small chuckle escaping his lips. “This is as much your place as it is mine, Jenny. You are more than welcome to do what you so please here.”

Crowley’s eyebrow quirked at her statement. Who was she to know if other things weren’t bound to happen? Now that she was with him—and being a human chosen amongst demons—there certainly would be a target over her head. But he wouldn’t mention all of that right now. “You never know what could happen, love. Like I said, it is better to be safe rather than sorry.”

As many times as Crowley had explained he simply wanted companionship, Jenny couldn't quite bring herself to believe him. There was something unnerving and so incredibly welcoming to her all at the same time about Crowley's home, about the way he had welcomed her into it without so much as a second thought.

Jenny sighed as she twisted around, focusing her attention on the demon in front of her. "I still have to go to school. I dont know what's going to end up happening between us but it would be stupid on my part to throw away all that time and money because what if... whatever this is doesn't work between us?"

In the back of Crowley’s mind, all he could visualize was how this woman would look next to him. Down in all, dressed to the nines, standing next to him at his throne. He could picture having to pick off demons left and right for putting their two cents in or trying to harm such as a hair on her head…

Crowley shook his head and blinked a few times when he realized she had asked him a question. He simply shrugged his shoulder as he looked at her. “It’s always good to have an education,” he stated, bringing a finger up to tap his bottom lip. If he ever never someone to work for him on the outside, if Jenny had a degree, she could most certainly hold the credentials to do just about anything. “Wouldn’t be such a bad idea for you to continue going to school.”

Listening to the way Crowley spoke, Jenny couldn't help but pick up on what he was likely thinking. She would be a good asset - Jenny had always been a hard working, intelligent woman so to add that to his little arsenal? Jenny opened her mouth to tell Crowley off but decided against it for no other reason than he hadn't actually said anything and she didn't want to come off as crazy.

"Next year is my last year anyway. So it's not like I'll be in school much longer," Jenny mentioned with a one sided shrug. "Then we can go from there, if this month goes as good as you're wanting it to."

“Ah, ah,” Crowley interjected her. “I haven’t made you promise me anything. It is as much about how you enjoy this. What you, hmm… What you get out of it.”

Crowley pursed his lips for a moment as he studied her. He could tell she was still wary about the situation. Yet, Crowley knew if the young woman had better things to do, other priorities, she would have continued to struggle with his offers. He eventually, after a while, would have backed off. But Jenny had made it so easy for him to reel him in.

Jenny was on her own in this world, it was something that she had long since grown used to. And for the most part, she was okay with that fact. It just sort of got to be much on the nights that she didn't have anything to d which were rare and long periods of time between. It was almost nice to have someone take some sort of interest in Jenny, even if it was a demon who likely had an agenda of his own.

"And what is it that you want? You're getting the companionship, but surely, there's gotta be a thousand beings willing to give you that. Isn't there?" Jenny couldn't help but ask, raising an eyebrow as she crossed her arms.

Crowley raised his eyebrow at her, at her braveness. Yet another example of why he had chosen her. There weren’t many people who were willing to challenge Crowley and keep him grounded. With everything that was going on upstairs and down below, Crowley needed someone there to just that.

“We’ll get to that soon enough, darling.” Crowley affirmed. “Just need to know if you are going to be cut out for this. I promise I wouldn’t make you do anything you absolutely didn’t want to do, you can trust me on that.”

Crowley kept sending her reeling in ways that she hadn't been prepared for. Jenny knew that he was a demon, hell, he was as he liked to put it, the King of Hell. Could she really trust him? She sure as shit didn't believe him but it didn't seem like she had any other choice in the matter. Time would be the only thing to show her whether she could trust him or not.

"Fine. But you have to make me a deal first," Jenny declared, crossing her arms as she studied Crowley's features. "Every day you tell me something new. I don't care what it is but you have to answer a question a day because I think I deserve to at least know what you're trying to get me involved in."

Crowley couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Of course, she would want something in return. There was no reason he couldn’t honor answer a few questions here and there, as long as she didn’t dig too deep. She had no reason too, right? He knew she wasn’t too savvy about everything that went on, so she wouldn’t have a clue what to ask him.

Crowley eventually nodded his head, a smirk still placed on his lips. “I guess that is fair enough. One question a day? We can do that, love. Would you like to ask a question now, or start this tomorrow?”

A shiver ran down Jenny's spine as she took in the smirk plastered over Crowley's face. She couldn't help but to feel like she was playing right into his trap and she had no way of figuring out how to get out of it. She had already agreed to it, she couldn't go back on her promise.

"No. I want time to think. I have to make the first one count," Jenny explained simply with a shrug of her shoulders. "But you promise to answer truthfully. Right?"
