    Nydia Burwick | Human
    Image

A month ago, Nydia Burwick basically had her life figured out. Fresh out of college, having passed the bar exam she was accepted onto her parent's law team, working for their energy drink. She was supposed to be courting the son from the rival company. Settle down with him and have 2.5 kids, the whole deal. Eliminate the competition make the two companies stronger. A month ago- Nydia Burwick was satisfied with her boring, ordinary life. But things changed the moment she met Levi Wolfe. A long story short? The impossible exist. Fairy-tale creatures and a month ago one saved her from drowning in a vacation in Copenhagen. But in saving her life, the creature who after some help from Nydia gaining forged documents named himself Levi Wolfe, broke the most sacred of rules for his kind. Don't interact with humans. The penalty for breaking that law? Death. For both of them. Unless of course he invoked some loophole that basically translated into Nydia, effectively, marrying him.

What other choice did she have? She agreed and well... Has spent the past month trying to figure out loopholes of this loophole. It didn't help that while technically their marriage wasn't against the law, there were always magical-folk in the seelie court of fae who didn't take kindly to humans, or the other magical beings who associated with them. The past month Levi had stressed that they weren't entirely safe, but he'd protect her. In the past month her entire life had been turned upside down. Their first order of business getting back to the states had been getting a marriage license. In the human world they were married in the eyes of the law and Levi assured that would be enough proof in a seelie court. Her parents when they heard assumed that she'd gotten knocked up. They were furious with not only her, but with Levi as well. It didn't matter she wasn't actually pregnant. She had been very clear with Levi. He'd sleep on the couch.

The worst part of it all? There were fae out there who wanted her dead. It was sort of terrifying not knowing if you were going to get attacked by a magical being. Levi's answer to that? Be her assistant. He'd be able to not only detect other fae, but protect Nydia from them. It had been a bit of an argument but she finally agreed. So, in the past month Nydia had basically all she'd known turned on it's head, had a brush with death, gotten married, and had gotten her parents angry enough to not speak to her outside of work for a month. To say these had been trying times, would of been an understatement. Currently Levi and Nydia were sat opposite ends of her couch, some movie playing in the background that served more as white noise than actual entertainment. For her anyways. He was mostly quiet, and she sensed he was trying not to be a burden- but as terrible as this situation was, she kind of wanted to get to know him.She knew about the things he could do. When he wasn't in need of his tail, Levi could use magic to shift his lower half human as well.

In his merfolk form, he had pointy teeth, but in human form? Nydia couldn't notice a difference between them. He spoke Danish, and English fluently. But she didn't understand him. It would of been so easy to let her drown. Wouldn't of complicated his life, but instead he chose to actively land himself in trouble with his sort of law enforcement, risking his neck to try to save her's. She wanted to believe he was a kind person. And he'd tried to be helpful, she'd give him that. ''Levi.'' Nydia called to him, and almost at once his dark eyes turned to meet her lighter ones. ''Do you have any family, back from where you came? You met mine... Kind of.'' Meeting was a stretch. They'd basically just yelled at both of them before storming out of her apartment the night that Nydia tried to have them over for dinner to explain that she'd gotten married. And the woman spoke about them often- yet she'd never heard Levi mention his. ''I just figured, since we're kind of stuck together for now we may as well get to know each other a little better. And you haven't told me much about yourself. You're not some kind of criminal from your... people are you?'' She's only half-teasing him as she watches with an air of amusement.

    Peter Darneil | Werewolf.
    Image

White Oaks, Vermont was about as small a town you could get. The kind of town where everyone knew everyone. Their secret's, their dreams and aspirations. Hell, you couldn't eat a blueberry pie without someone asking you how it was. Nestled in the Green Mountains it was beautiful. Picturesque and peaceful were the words used to describe White Oaks. Yet under all the charm and small-town friendliness, it had it's darker stains. Everyone joked that the howls that would sometimes flood the forest weren't wolf at all. But something a little more... dangerous. Werewolves. Every time someone told the tall tale at the diner downtown, it'd end in laughter simply because the residents of White Oaks didn't understand how right they were. And that's where the Darneil family came in. They helped settle this town hundreds of years ago. Had a long line of mayors and police chiefs. They were well-loved by those in town, respected as a bunch that basically kept to themselves, quiet, not the kind to start trouble- but to stop it.

And what the townsfolk didn't know? The Darneil's had a dirty little secret. Probably the best and only kept secret in this town. It was that secret this foundation was built on, and a secret the family kept with their lives. See, when the townfolk laughed and giggled about monsters, about wolves turning into men- they didn't understand they were talking about the Darneil family. They were the best kept secret in town; and that's the life that Peter Darneil, the only son of Duncan and Lucy Darneil the current alpha's had been raised to know. It was their bloodline to protect not only the town from outside threats, be it supernatural or natural. It's what they'd been doing for hundreds of years. And Peter was ready to accept that legacy. He wanted to carry on the pack's namesake, and wanted to make his parents and ancestors proud. And he did his best. He was friendly with the people who called White Oaks' home. He knew mostly everyone, good and bad. And when the bad needed to be taken care of- he was the one who helped his father take care of it.

Because one day his father would step down from his position and it would pass to Peter. He just wanted to be ready. So he was observant. Learned about other supernatural creatures- vampires were bad if they were out of control. Witches were okay; other werewolves- it really depended on the individual. But the worst his father had taught, were the werecats. Werewolves and cats had a particularly nasty history together. According to his father, the cat's were mischievous by nature. They loved giving any other species a hard time, and they could not be trusted. If anything were going to stab you in the back? It'd be the venomous claws of a werecat. Years ago when the town had been forming, there was a clan of them- but the Darneil pack drove them out and would be willing to do so again. But mostly? Peter's life wasn't that interesting. Work, and attending pack meetings were basically how he spent his time. So that's why when his father pulled him aside at the last pack meeting, informing him a new face had been seen around town and to keep an eye out- he was a little excited. Barely anyone came to White Oaks long enough to catch the attention of the Darneil pack.

That had been last week, and Peter had pushed that conversation to the back of his mind- until today. He'd stopped by Paula's Dinner for lunch as he normally did, but in his normal booth he had caught an unfamiliar scent. It was sweet, intoxicating almost, and two and two clicked. That must of been the stranger. Rather than go over immediately the wolf had taken a seat at the counter instead, keeping careful eyes on her. She seemed a little different than most folks. Short hair, and eyes that seemed as sharp as a switchblade. At once his wolf was intrigued. So he worked up the nerve to walk over to her table, confidently approaching and offering a smile. ''Sorry to interrupt your lunch miss.'' He started, sliding across the seat from her. ''But I noticed you're not from here. I'm Peter, we don't have many people who come to White Oaks. Are you here on a visit, or something longer?'' His voice is curious, he doesn't mean to pry but again there aren't many folk who come to visit, and even less choose to settle. Strangers aren't really an everyday occurrence. Besides his father wanted him to keep an eye on the stranger.
