Kenley took a few more steps toward Benny, not even stopping long enough to consider what her chances against him were. She was so sure that he was up to nothing good, that her brother, Sam, had sent him that she very nearly didn't hear his explanation. But then she stopped dead in her tracks and she was left to stare at him with wide eyes, her mouth opening as she shook her head. Oh.

"Dean's my brother," were the only words she could seem to get out quickly enough when Benny turned away from her.

"I don't know how much you know but our brother, he said yes to Lucifer. That's what started this mess," Kenley started and now that she had, she was beginning to ramble but she couldn't seem to stop herself either. "Dean and I got separated a few weeks back. We were talking about trying to make camp but I honestly have no idea if he's still alive."

Kenley paused long enough to take a deep breath, long enough for an apology to form on the tip of her tongue, but not long enough for her to feel the sting to her pride for what she was going to apologize over. "I'm sorry. It wasn't... it wasn't fair of me to jump to conclusions like that but you have to understand where I was coming from, too."

Benny’s mouth sat in a hard line as she called out for him. Reluctantly, he turned around and listened intently to what she had to say. Sam had said yes to Lucifer? Why had he done that? And this beautiful girl that stood before him was a Winchester? Makes sense. Why on earth had Sam agreed to Lucifer?

Benny suddenly felt a sense of sadness and even more compassion for the girl who was in front of him. He shook his head sadly as he looked into her eyes, “I’m so sorry to here that, da’lin. I truly, truly am.” He reached out and touched her shoulder gently, a gesture of condolence. He nodded his head towards the way they were headed.

“Might as well get our asses truckin’, again, aye?” Benny said lowly. “Best be sure to try and find your brother.”

As they continued to walk down the path they were on, he turned to her for a moment. He could tell that her spirits were low, but he didn’t realize just how bad they were until her previous confession. “I’m sure Dean is jus’ fine. Jus’ fine, yeah? He’s a fighter—so are you. Don’t let the bad creep in just yet, gotta keep your mind straight, da’lin.”

Somewhere along the line, Kenley had decided that she was going to find Sam and she was going to find him and she was going to exorcise that bastard from her brother. She didn't know if it would work, she had no way of knowing if it could but she sure as shit wasn't going to sit by like everything was just fine. Because nothing was fine any longer. She liked to think that things had went in a completely different direction than what Sam had thought they would and he regretted ever saying yes but she had no real way of knowing.

Kenley's lip quirked in a half attempt to thank Benny for the apology but she couldn't form the right words. She let out a sigh, beginning to follow after him. Even as exhaustion started to set in, she would continue because the ache in her limbs was welcomed. It made her feel human, made her realize she was still here and there was still a fight left to be had.

Looking up when Benny began to speak, Kenley nodded slowly, her brows pulling together. "So was Sam. But he still said yes and I ju-" she cut herself off, shaking her head. She wasn't unleashing that sort of ramble on Benny. It wouldn't have been fair to him. She cleared her throat, shoving her hands into her pockets. "This war has only just begun. I don't... know if you really want to place yourself by Dean because if you know him, you know he'll be willing to brutalize anything now."

Benny looked over at Kenley as she spoke. He briefly wondered if Dean had ever told his sister the things that occurred in purgatory. Benny was sure that Dean was in the exact frame of mind now that he was then. The things that he had witnessed him do, Benny was sure that other people wouldn’t be able to stomach it. The thought alone brought a small smirk and then a grimace to Benny’s face.

“I’m sure he will be just fine,” Benny spoke finally. “I’ve seen that man do a lot of things… I mean, a lot of things, da’lin. I’m sure I can handle whatever it is he is doing now.”

The farther into the woods they got, the more he noticed her once buoyant pace was slowing. He knew that the human girl needed to rest, he wasn’t stupid. But, if she was half as stubborn as her brother, he knew that it wasn’t happening. “Think we should stop off for a bit for you to get some sleep, love. You’re draggin’ ass right now.” He scrunched his nose playfully at her, “Can’t have you slowin’ me down and bein’ demon-zombie bait, can we?”

Dean had kept purgatory mostly to himself, Kenley could have only used her imagination to fill in the missing gaps which was a majority of the time. She couldn't even hope to imagine what he had faced and she wasn't entirely sure that she really wanted to know because Dean was her brother! The idea of him facing such a harsh world killed her, especially since she hadn't been able to help him.

"I'm not... saying that you wouldn't be able to stomach it but I mean that do you want to put yourself in the middle of this war? The angels will come one day, so will demons. And for that matter, we'll need a helluva lot of luck to get through all of this, don't you? If Dean and I somehow can save our brother, that's a whole 'nother ballgame."

Kenley had no way of knowing whether Dean would even be willing to attempt to save Sam. After all, they hadn't seen each other in a few weeks at the least. Clearing her throat, Kenley looked up when Benny spoke again. She frowned, her shoulders pulling together as she attempted to pick up the pace. Her grip tightened around the bag on her shoulder as she sighed. "I guess. I'm sorry.." she trailed off, surveying the surrounding forest. "We can keep going for a bit until we find a better spot to stop if you want."

Benny shook his head at her words. “I owe yer brother my life. The things he has done for me… They way he had looked after me… I would do just about anything that Dean Winchester asked for me to do… And that is a promise, Miss. Dean showed me more about loyalty than I already thought that I had known.”

Benny chugged on right alongside of her. He could tell that she didn’t necessarily want to stop, he knew that she wanted to keep going. But he knew that she wouldn’t be able to last much longer. They had a couple of choices, they could either stop for the night or he could carry her while they continued on. But he didn’t think that she would really like that.

“We can continue on for another mile ‘er so.” He stated. “After that we can find somewhere to stop off for a few hours, get ya some rest. You need food or ya know anything like that?”

Benny was trying to remember what all it was humans needed to function, he knew he needed to take her needs into consideration as much as his own. He had already fed that morning on a deer, so he wasn’t in need for anything that moment.
