Hades looked down at her, letting go of her hands to let her step closer. The Tree of False Dreams loomed over them as if it was waiting for them to fall asleep. He looked up into its branches, the shining and swaying of the leaves creating quite the mystical illusion. He wondered what they would both see if they were to engage in false dream. Would he see himself marrying Persephone or would he see something else? Would she see her own freedom or something more than? Hades was not sure, but he never allowed himself the pleasure of curiosity. “You’re welcome to investigate, but touch only one. Hold onto my hand and you will be balanced between the dream and reality. You’ll be able to tell me exactly what you see,” he said with a smile, “If you wish, of course."
Despeona fiddled with one flower that she left in her hand, twisting and breaking pieces of petals, stems and leaves. Despoena looked over at Apollo as he so feebly tried to comfort her. She appreciated it, of course. Her ego has ridden such a rollercoaster of emotions within the last few hours that she had no energy to defend herself or make some statement about her own strength. In truth, she felt weak. Apollo had more questions than he did comforting words and Despoena was not sure if she needed to be alone or if she needed the distraction that conversation provided. Perhaps Apollo would notice something she had not, but from her point of view, Persephone evaporated into thin air right in this spot. Apollo truly believed that they would find Persephone, but Despeona did not believe they would. Whoever was powerful enough to steal her in this way would only bring her back when they pleased. She bit her lip, trying to grasp the vastness of power that could have stolen her sister.
“I believe that you believe we will find her,” Despeona said, dropping the flower from her hand and turning to him. “You have always had more joy than most, especially me,” she said with a sheepish laugh. “I’d like to believe what you believe.” She sighed, clasping her hands across her chest. “I am expected to spearhead the search for Persephone which is what I’m doing, can’t you tell? And I was asked to leave my - my mother’s home,” She said, a little sarcasm to protect her own pride.
She waited only a moment before she let her deepest and strangest thoughts spill from her lips. The only power that she knew of that was so great was that of the Three Brothers; Hades, Zeus and Poseidon. Zeus may or may not know something, but he was clearly not responsible for Persephone's disappearance. Poseidon has never expressed an interest before, but Hades has. "Do you think Hades could be involved?" She asked, almost afraid to ask the question.
