Bridgette walked into the room where the meeting was being held. She sighed as she sat down in one of the metal chairs. It had been two weeks of this nonsense and yet she felt like she was getting nowhere. How was she suppose to go on with her music career if this stupid therapist wasn't doing her job. Bridgette looked over as one of the guys sat next to her. She was pretty sure that his name was Eli, but she had never personally spoken to him. She knew that he was still adjusting to having his world crumble around him, like most of the people in the group. Bridgette crossed her arms as she sat there waiting for everyone to get seated. She just wanted to get this meeting over with. It was impossible to cure what she had permanently. Having Bipolar disorder was no picnic. She had tried many medications and they always made her feel like she was in a fog. She rolled her eyes when she heard the therapist start rattling off the usually things that started the meeting.

A king, a queen. The moon and the sun. Yin and Yang. What do these things have in common? They're a pair. Something that was made to function evenly; coexist. What is a king with out his queen? Yin without Yang? Moon without Sun? One. Many more things can be accomplished in pairs, painting a house, washing your dog, or simply preparing dinner. The same can be said for Elijah Keegan. One night, when heading home with friends, a drunk driver hit Eli on the freeway, he lived, but the price he had to pay was his right hand.

And that's what bought Eli here. His hand isn't completely gone, but it was badly damaged in the accident, resulting in him not being able to fulfill his dreams of being a musician; his specialty is trumpet.

Elijah entered the room with a raised eyebrow. He ponder what they could possibly talk about that they haven't covered yet. Depression? Check. Self pity? Check. A solution? Well, that was still a work in progress. Something that quickly became an annoyance to Eli. Releasing a light sigh, Eli took his seat, this time he decided he was going to pay attention instead of just zoning out. His eyes scanned everyone's faces as the therapist began. He knew they were all thinking the same, when can I leave?

Eli glanced towards Bridgette. Her expression mirroring his thoughts. He knew her story, but that was it. See, that was one of the things that confused Eli about the meetings. They wanted you to not only be able to cope with your challenges, which is why they're there to help, but also to get you back to your old self. How were you supposed to go back to the way things were, when no one knows anything about you? Only about your stigma? Perhaps time will tell.

Dr. Johnson stood up and looked at everyone, "Okay so tonight we are going to do something different." She explained. "I want everyone to take a piece of paper, write your name on it and then put it in the basket." She said as she had her assistant hand out the things. "Now after we do that then we are going to start out new exercise. The person who's name you choose will be your new...buddy. You are to hang out with this person outside of these meetings. At least for an hour a day. You can call them whenever and if you need help. Though if it is beyond their reach feel free to call me." She said as she watched the last person drop the paper in the basket. "Then after every encounter with your buddy you are to log about them and your opinions, also what you gained from that experience." She said.

Bridgette stared at the therapist and rolled her eyes after she finished explaining it. What the hell was hanging out with a complete stranger suppose to do for her. Bridgette had zoned out while people were drawing names from the basket. The only thing that caught her attention was her name leaving the lips of the guy next to her, Eli. She looked at him, wonderful, she was with the most negative person in the group. Sure they had in similar ways had things in common. Both a passion for music that had been stripped from them. On a brighter note Elijah was fun to look at and wasn't the worst person in the group. Bridgette looked at him for a moment then looked back at the therapist as she spoke.

Dr. Johnson smiled, "Okay so after the meeting you can hang out with your buddies." She said. The meeting seemed to drag on and on and before Bridgette knew it the hour had went by.

Bridgette got to her feet and then looked over at Eli who was much taller then her. "So let's just get this over with." She said as she grabbed her purse. She walked out with him, "You wanna get coffee at the shop down the street?" She asked him. She figured it was a more relaxed setting and she usually went their anyway. She hoped he actually participated in this and didn't make her have to make stuff up for her journal entries.

"Great. " Eli mumbled to himself. Not only was the man suffering with his own issues, now he had to add on someone else's issues and pretend he had the answers. This session definitely wasn't how Eli thought his day would go. 'Couldn't we just get back to the sharing circle? ' the male wondered mentally. Clasping the pencil in his left hand, Eli simply wrote the first three letters of his name in all caps, seeing as his dominant hand was in a cast. Eli then watched curiously, wondering whom would pull his name, who's story he was going to have to listen to with fresh ears, and before he knew it, the basket was in his lap.

The papers crinkled in the basket as Eli purposely took his time pulling a name, thinking that if he stalled, that may take some time off of the whole hour. However, it seemed the others were onto him as one of the other males cleared their throat. With a raised eyebrow, Eli unfold the paper and read the name prior to looking to his side. Bridgette.

Perhaps this was fate? The singer who lost her voice only to be replaced by voices in her head, and the one arm trumpet player. The two had the makings of a special needs band. The thought caused Eli to chuckle in a sarcastic manner.

    Then, the meeting was over...

Rising to his feet, Eli looked over to Bridgette as she spoke. The invitation was straight to the point, maybe this idea wasn't so bad. At least someone would finally tell Eli the truth, unlike the doctors back at the hospital; giving false predictions concerning his hand.

"Sure. But let me warn you now. I'm not going to hug you if you randomly start crying. " He stated, reflecting on how his own relatives reacted towards his injury.

Bridgette glared at him, feeling her anger flare up. "Don't talk to me like that asshole." She snapped. She frowned as she looked away from him, "Let's just go." She muttered. She walked with him to the coffee house, thinking about all the terrible things she could do to him. She kept them at bay though. She got her coffee then sat down with him at the table. "So I don't know how exactly we should go about this." She said. She looked at her coffee. Talking to him would be hard because she barely talked during group. She did feel bad for him though. Having something so great taken away from him.

She took a sip of her coffee, "Any ideas?" She asked him. "Also, if you cry i'm not going to hug you." She said, throwing his own line back at him. "I heard you cry alot over your bummed hand." She said, crossing her arms. Bridgette had become more angry towards people since her disorder had gotten worse. She hated people so much with their happy lives and great futures.

The reply she gave was unexpected to say the least. In group, Bridgette had never said anything aside from what was in her file; what was common knowledge. His eyebrows furrowed in thought as he wondered what she was like before. Obviously her condition changed her. For the better or worse has yet to be decided. Eli was the type to never filter what it was he was going to say. The male was used to letting the music speak for him, the notes of his trumpet seemed to say everything he couldn't find the words to.

Upon her question, Eli shrugged lightly before shaking his head. "Well, maybe we should start from the beginning. Before we got put in this situation, back when we were normal. " He explained, glancing at his covered hand. Her next set of words caused the male to look up from the table and make eye contact with her.

As she quoted himself from earlier, a small smirk made its home on his mouth. Maybe, just maybe they would be the push that they each need.

Bridgette frowned, "Why would i want to talk about how i was before. That person doesn't exist anymore. You gonna play an instrument because i highly doubt it." She said. She realized what she said was harsh and shook her head, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." She told him. She didn't mean to say something so awful. It was awful to lose something you loved to do and she knew that. Bridgette took a sip of her drink and looked away from him.

It was amazing how a complete stranger could have such a large impact. Her words surprisingly cut like a two edged sword. The male's jaw clenched as his eyes stayed trained on her. He wasn't used to such brashness as he used to only receive high praise for his musical abilities. "I figured the situation, in addition to the meetings, were depressing enough. Sorry for not wanting to sound like a broken record. " He finished before calling over a waiter, and ordering a coffee and a pastry. He thought that they would need something stronger to get through this task.

After her apology, Eli looked away from the woman briefly as he entered thought. He figured it out. The reason the universe put the pair together because they were the same, both had a negative outlook on the situation. Perhaps they'd grow sick of this negative banter and that would be the solution?

Bridgette watched him for a moment, "Fine. What do you do in your spare time?" She asked him. She doubt he did a lot, but if he wanted to pretend that they weren't both completely messed up in the head then she would play along. Bridgette took a sip of her drink, "You wanna go to the bar?" She asked. Maybe some drinks would cut the tension between the two of them.

Eli thought that the woman before him had divulged all there was that they needed to know in group, and yet her attitude towards him alerted him that their was something else bothering her, aside from her loss of singing. Eli never researched what exactly is Bipolar Disease. Maybe if he was further enlightened, the male might understand. Upon her question, Eli clenched his jaw. There wasn't much he could do with one hand, and his pride would never bluntly ask for help. He is only here so that his family would quit hovering. "I read poetry. " He responded, flexing his hand underneath the cast as it started to itch.

"Drinks? I thought you'd never ask. " The male then added with a grin as he pushed his coffee mug away, and grabbing his pastry. The liquor would numb the pain. At least that's what Eli was hoping for.

Bridgette smiled and stood up with him, "Let's go." She said. She walked with him to the bar down the street, looking around as they got in their. Bridgette at on the bar stool next to Eli and ordered herself a beer. She looked at Eli as he ordered his drink. "So now what?" She asked after she took a sip of her beer. It tasted like heaven in that moment. Bridgette looked around the bar then turned her attention back to him.. She was glad that they had agreed to come there. It seemed easier.

Elias followed her out the door, and into their next location. His head tilted to the side some as he contemplated as to what drink he should have. At her question, Eli turned to look at her. A small smile tugged at his lips as she gulped down the beer. "I never would have pegged you for a beer kind of girl. " He stated, before facing the bar tender and ordering a scotch. Maybe things would go better given the more relaxed environment.

Bridgette looked at him, "Why is that? I never pegged you as a scotch drinking either. That's an old man drink." She said, smirking at him. She took a sip of her beer then looked around the bar. She wasn't even sure what she really should be talking to him about. If she had to spend most nights at the bar with him after their meetings that would be just fine with her. She went to them anyway and tried to drink to forget her problems. Bridgette leaned back against the bar stool, looking over at him. "So what should we talk about?" HE asked.

At her question, Eli smiled some. "Blonde hair. Your a girl, blue eyes, your a girl. And lastly, did I mention that your a girl? Most women like wines, and fruity drinks. " He said with a shrug before continuing. "Most people think that. I will admit it is an acquired taste. But, like wisdom, it gets better with age. " He then finished. At her second question, Eli glanced up towards the ceiling with furrowed eyebrows as he entered into thought. "Well, what is the first thing you're going to do when you get out of here?" He then asked, referring to the hospital that was currently their home.

Bridgette took a sip of her drink and watched him, "Um...probably go back to my house and avoid people. It was kind of my plan now, but it got interrupted when they made me hang out with you." She said, smiling. She took a sip of her drink again and looked around them. She just wanted this whole thing to be over with. She wanted to be alone and relax. She didn't like people anymore, seeing them happy only pissed her off even more than it use to.
