Treading The Unknown

She looked at him and made a face, "A 'thing'?" she said as she snorted then wet her lips a little, "Uh he has a class so we're probably going to hang out later so he can help me with my calculus," she said to him shrugging.

Jaehyun sipped his soda and walked around the store when he saw Rowan he smiled, "Hey, he said as he walked over to her, "How've you been?"

"Fine, and you?" She asked, not looking up from the rack. "What are you doing here?" She asked. She was in the section of clubwear that she knew Jaehyun would normally steer clear of.

He shrugged. "Isn't that what it is? A thing?" He asked her, leaning against the swing pole. "He was with Rowan before, he's over it already?"

She looked at him, "IF thats what it was I don't see why it matters, "Hes a good friend to me," she shrugged a bit not quite sure why Yuta was suddenly interested.

"I'm looking for a couple new outfits and Lily asked me to get some new sleepers for Jenny shes growing out of what she has," he said smiling a little

She looked at him and stopped. "That's nice of you," She said softly, pulling an outfit on the rack. "Well then, I wouldn't want to come between that. I wont bother you."

He nodded a little. "I guess it doesn't." He said softly. "Well, Rowan's been sad recently but I guess he's moved on. I'm just a bit surprised."

Lily looked at him then sighed, "I honestly don't know what you're going on about," she said to him shaking her head a little, "He is just helping me with studies and I help him not be bored out of his mind,"

He furrowed his brow, "What are you talking about? I thought you still wanted to be friends?" he asked as he looked at her

"Fine, do you want to help me pick out outfits?" She said to him, continuing to look through the racks. "I'm going to a party tonight, I'm excited. It's a rave instead."

He stared at her. "Oh? Thats it?" He asked curiously. "I thought the two of you would have been together, since you're spending so much time together."

"Why would you care if it was something else," she laughed a little as she pushed Jenny in the swing making her giggle. "Hes a nice enough guy,"

He nodded a little "Sure," he said to her shrugging, "What look are you going for, single, ready to mingle or something a little more risque?" he asked.

She turned to look at him, not believing her ears. "I want something with white that will glow because of black lights," She said, looking through the racks. "That's all I'm looking for right now."

He sighed. "I'm worried about Rowan okay. Took her long enough to get over it, I didn't think anything more of it." He said, shaking his head. "Besides, you're the one who said you wanted more anyway."

He nodded a little, "Got it," he said as he looked through the racks and pulled out a top, "What about this?" he asked her curiously.

She shrugged, "She broke up with him, I get break ups suck but thats kind of on her," she said to him softly as she smiled at Jenny.

"She was scared," He said, shaking his head. "People like us don't like catching feelings," He said to her. "Not her fault that he pulled her into something she was afraid of."

She shook her head. "Maybe, but... why are you helping me?" She asked curiously. "Don't you need to go get onsies?"

Lily looked at him and furrowed her brow, "I used to be like that," she said to him lightly then sighed, "Scared of catching feelings, because no one had shown me that they were worth caring for," she murmured softly then looked to him. Until she met him that was, but she couldn't say that.

He looked at her "We're friends right?" he laughed a little as he looked at her furrowing his brow - "do you want me to go?" he asked motioning to the baby isle.

"I'm not sure what we are," She said honestly. "I'll be honest I really don't know." She muttered.

He sighed. "Well, she was scared. So she broke up with him. Not that he knows or cares," He murmured.

"Of he course he cares, he wasn't the one who wanted to break up," she said to him shaking her head a little.

He sighed, "I'm trying to be the friend you said you wanted us to be,"

"Well, its not her fault he wanted more from her than she was able to give," He said, shaking his head back.

"I think you should go," She said softly. Seeing him was hard enough. "I'll see you around, okay? I'll buy this." She said, holding the shirt he had pulled out.

"Then maybe she should have said that to begin with and just left; because then he wouldn't have caught feelings - then it wouldn't have been so hard when she didn't come around anymore," she said to him as she took a deep breath.

He nodded a little then sipped his drink, "see you around," he murmured then turned around to walk towards the baby isle.

"Maybe he shouldn't have expected so much from her," He said to her. "Its not hard for just him you know." He said, crossing his arms.

Lily rolled her eyes a bit, "Why would it be hard for her when she made it a point that she just couldn't do 'relationships'." she said as she looked at him then lightly pushed Jenny again.

"I don't think it would have mattered, he still pushed ahead with what he wanted," He said to her. "Told her how he felt, complicated everything. Now what's she supposed to do?"

"You... you think he knows what he's doing?" she said to him then closed her eyes and shook her head. "If she doesn't care then why does she stick around?" she mumbled as she felt her eyes begin to water.

"Because she cares!" He all but shouted at her. "She cares about him," He said softly. "If he didn't he wouldn't. Why else would he come around," He said in frustration.
