Give me attention, I need it now.
Too much distance, to measure it out, out loud.
Chasing patterns across a personal map.
And making pictures where the line overlap.

Call me over, and tell me how.
Well you got so far, never making a single sound.
No one is as lucky as us.
    Is as lucky as us.

Riley sat on the steps of the school and sighed. Her friend Belle was supposed to be her ride home today, but then her crush Shane Michaels asked her to hang out after school and giving Riley a ride home must have slipped her mind. She full planned to have it out with her tomorrow. But until then, she sat, waiting for the late bus. Suddenly she felt movement behind her. Assuming it was just another student, she ignored it, until she heard it speak. "Riley Scott," a deep male voice said from behind her. "Um, yeah?" she asked, turning around to face a man who must have been in his fifties. His hair was fully gray and he had a truly impressive beard. He looked around, presumable to make sure they were alone. "I've been sent from the Shadowhunter Institute, to tell you about your calling. And start you on your training."

"Okay boys. That's all for practice for today. You all did good, but we have a lot more work to do if we're going to win that game against South Point on Saturday." Jace let out a breath of relief that practice was finally over and brushed off some of the dirt on his knees. "We're gonna kick South Point's ass!" his friend Josh said, elbowing Jace playfully and earning himself a disapproving look from coach. "Yeah, maybe. If we work on our strategy a little more," Jace began before abruptly losing his track of his thought. "Hey Kacey, wait up!" he yelled, before turning back to his friend. "Catch you later, something just came up" he ran over to catch up to her. "Hey, Kace. Need a ride home?" he asked, giving her his most flirty smile.

With the sun still out, Simon was stuck inside, his room blacked out, but he couldn't sleep. His arm rested over his eyes in an attempt to make things even darker for him, so that maybe the extra darkness might help him drift off and rest, but it did no such thing. It didn't help at all. He knew it was probably because he wanted to feed, but he'd run out of blood bags earlier and he couldn't go out now to get one. If he could just hold off until the sun went down, he could wander out and grab a blood bag from the nearest hospital and hopefully feed before he could go about enjoying his night, when it came. Whether he'd have any luck in that or not, though, he wasn't entirely sure; the most he had at the moment was hope, if he was being honest.
Kaycee had just finished cheerleading practice and she stretched her arms out above her in hopes of soothing her aching joints a bit. She wasn't the biggest fan of being a cheerleader, but it was something her mother had wanted and it was the only thing the woman had ever really asked of her. It was the least she could do, especially since it made her mother so happy. When she heard her name being called, she blinked and turned her attention towards the source, an eyebrow arching as she shifted her bag onto her shoulders while she walked, though she did pause in her steps for him to catch up. "Jace," she greeted with a small nod, though she looked faintly amused to his question. "A ride home? From such a big flirt? I guess I can't really pass it up."
