Rise Above

Daria knocked on the door of the blacksmiths, letting herself inside before curtseying. "I'm looking for a Will Turner?" She asked curiously, noticing the blacksmith was fast asleep in the corner before looking around. "Hello? Is anyone here?"

Will turned abruptly smacking his head on one of the hanging hooks he cursed before moving into her line of sight, "Yes, Miss how may I be of help to you?" he asked with a short bow to in respect o her.

Katherine looked over her hair in her reflection before sighing a little, "You've been vetting him towards me for two weeks now, father.... what do you have up your sleeve?" she asked as she stood up from her vanity then walked over to him.

She winced a little at the noise and took a step closer. "I didn't mean to startle you, I'm sorry. I'm here on behalf of the Swann's, they told me you were making something for them?" She asked curiously.

"You should know by now, soon you'll be in need of a husband," Her father said, taking a seat and sighing. "I think he may be the right choice."

He nodded,"Ah yes, the sword," he said as he walked over to the work bench, "It's finished I'm just working on the handle - making it nicer to hold onto and not as rough"he said as he showed it to her with a smile.

With a nod she let out a deep breath, "Of course," she murmured gently then looked at him,"A husband is important, I suppose,"she said as she fixed the lapels on her fathers jacket. "Does he... has he shown interest in me?" she asked.

"It's quite nice," She smiled, looking at the bench and nodding a little. "Then I should need to come back for it, when would be the best time?"

He shrugged. "I suppose so, which is why he keeps returning," He laughed a little. "You'll see him tonight."

"Tonight, alright then," she said as she looked at him then out the window, "I still get stares, I know I don't look quite like everyone else.. I've always known it, what if it's passed onto my children?" she asked as she glanced at her father.

He nodded, "Two days time it should be done," he said to her smiling a little, "By then I will have the shealth finished as well," he said to her.

"Of course, then in twi days time I will return for them," She smiled a little, noticing a brass cup on the table. "It's' beautiful, making these things seems so difficult."

"And they will be just as beautiful as you are," He said surely. "I don't see it as a problem, they will learn."

Katherine nodded a little, "Of course," she said then turned to look at him, "Do you think mother would like him? You know she wanted me to marry a man I liked,"

He smiled and nodded, "IT can be but I've been doing so since I was young," he said to her,"I enjoy it now, keeps me busy,"

She smiled a little. "It's beautiful, you're very talented." She added, looking around. "That man... does he always sleep so heavily?"

He nodded. "I'm positive she would have. He's kind, very strict in his beliefs. I think he'll make you a find husband."

"Drunk stupor, so yes," he laughed a little as he looked at her then chuckled.

The word strict stuck with her, there'd be a lot of expectations of her then - she liked having free will - and the freedom to go about as she wished. "Yes, then I suppose he'll work just fine," she said to him.

She laughed a little. "I see, then I suppose it's quiet most times here."

He nodded a little. "Of course you will, tomorrow we'll make final decisions." He smiled at her.

Will smiled, "He doesn't do much talking - takes credit for my work and owns the deed to the shop otherwise it's all me," he said to her sighing a little. To say it annoyed him would be putting it lightly.

That evning she walked down the stairs into the foyer of the large house, she fanned herself lightly then sighed, running a little behind she didn't seem to care much. "I'm sorry to have kep you waiting,"

"Well, at least I know the truth," She smiled a little, looking around. "Maybe I'll have something made, once I've got enough silver I'll buy something. From you, not him."

He shook his head and bowed. "Not a problem, I trust it won't be a habit. Shall we go for dinner then?" He asked her, offering her his arm.

She nodded a little and took his arm with a small smile, "My father has told me of your promotion, congratulations are in order I imagine," she said to him as she walked with him.

He smiled a little, "Anything you're in need of, I'm sure I can make - every woman is in need of a dagger," he said to her. "Should she have to defend herself,"

"Well, I may have to pay you as I can, but I would like one if you'd be so willing to make one for me." She smiled a little. "Nothing too strenuous I hope."

He nodded as they walked. "Yes, I imagine so. Thank you. It will be easier to provide for you with this raise in pay. I should also be recieving a new residence as well."

She nodded a little - feeling silly for hope of a true proposal, but she relented, "That will be nice, is it close to here?" she asked as she looked at him, "I'd like to be somewhat close to my fahter... I'm all he has left," she told him.

He shook his head and smiled ,"Of course not, come take a look at the daggers I have here, they're light in weight - needle like, easy for concealment," he said offering her one to hold, "I can make you one custom to your needs as well,"

She shook her head. "Oh no, one of these is fine. How much should I pay you?" She asked, looking into her own coin purse. "I couldn't afford anything custom made," She admitted sheepishly.

He nodded a little. "It's just by the water. I can take you there for a tour if you would like?" He offered to her.

"Yes, I'd love a tour," she said to him with a smile, "I'm sure its lovely," they walked at a slow pace but it was kind of nice to be able to avoid the crowds for as long as they could. She knew once she was married she'd be hosting parties or get togethers with ladies and once she had children; little get togethers for them so they could play.

He smiled a little, "Consider it a gift, ,welcome to port royal," he said bowing to her. "It's be rude of me to not properly welcome you,"

She looked at him in surprise. "A gift? Oh, I couldn't." She smiled a little, curtseying in response. "Thank you for the welcome. I'm quite far from home," She smiled a little sadly.

He smiled a little as they walked. "It is on the pier, looks out to the boats. You might have seen it, the large brick building," He explained as they went toward his carriage.
