Breaking the Rules

Fitz shook is head softly "Lana I'm sorry, I don't have a choice. I promise you your father wi not lay a hand on you again. We'll find somewhere for you to go tonight, and everything will be taken care of by tomorrow" he promised, gently rubbing her back in large circles to calm her down.

Lana shook her head. “You don’t know what he’s capable of..” she said as she wiped her face. “Even if I stay somewhere else, if the police don’t arrest him, he’ll come looking for me..”

Fitz pulled a tissue out of the box in his desk, rushing back over to give it to her. "Lana, you're not safe as it stands, you're clearly hurt. I can't let this go by unnoticed, not just legally but ethically" he wasn't sure what to do, he had already sent a message to the principle, asking him to come to his classroom asap. "Can I get you water or anything?"

“Water...” Lana said as she looked down. “Can I stay with you?” She asked. She looked at him, with pleading eyes. “Please? I’ll feel safer.” She said. She stopped talking whenever the principal came in.

Fitz cleared his throat, he would have to run it past Liza, but he reckoned it could be alright until they got something more permanent worked out. He pulled the principle outside of the door and filled him in on everything, telling him that Liza's sister would look after her until they found somewhere better. He knew it was a lie, but only a small one. He wanted to look out for Lana.

Once the principle left he went. Ack in to the classroom and told Lana to gather her stuff, he would get her some good and call Liza on the way.

“So I can stay with you?” Lana asked. She was happy whenever he nodded. She had a crush on Mr. Williams and now with them being alone together, maybe she could really show him how she felt about him.

"I'll just need to run it past my fiancé, but we have a guest room so it should be fine for a couple of days" he told her with a smile, picking up his own briefcase and leading her out toward his car.

"You hungry? What do you want for dinner?" He asked her, unlocking the jeep.

Lana felt her heart break whenever she heard he had a fiancé. Now she wasn’t even sure she wanted to stay. She shook her head, “no thanks..” she said softly.

He nodded, starting up the car and pulling out of the car park. "I need to stop and get something for myself anyway, you need to get anything in Yarget? Some fresh clothes, a toothbrush?" He suggested, glancing over at her when he could to make sure she was holding up okay.

“Sure..” Lana said as she stared out the window. Once they got to the store, she got out and walked with him. “I’m going to go look at clothes..” she said before heading to the juniors department.

He nodded happily, and told her to meet him at the cash register in 20 minutes. He grabbed himself an microwave lasagne, knowing there would be enough for Liza and Lana too, as well as a loaf of garlic bread and a bottle of wine for Liza.

He headed to the register and kept an eye out for Lana.

Lana grabbed herself a pajama set, a spare toothbrush and a change of clothes for tomorrow. If she was planning on staying with him, she’d go home tomorrow and pack more things.

She headed up to the cash register. “I’m ready...I just got a couple of things...if I’m going to stay with you...I’ll just go back to my house and get more tomorrow.”

Jackson nodded and motioned for her to put them on to the conveyor belt along with his own. He figured Lana's dad would be brought in fo questioning tomorrow so she would be able to collect her things tomorrow.

He payed for everything on his card and shoved them all in to a plastic bag, heading out towards his car.

“I had money, you didn’t have to pay for my stuff..” Lana said as they walked back to his car. She pulled her money out and handed him it. “Here, for my stuff..”

Fitz shook his head, refusing to take her money."It was only necessities, don't worry about it. Keep your money for when you really need it" he told her kindly.

within 20 minutes they reached his apartment complex and gotten all parked up. he grabbed the groceries from the back seat and led her upstairs to the apartment. there on the sofa sat his Fiancé Liza. "Hey Liz, this is Lana.. what are you doing home..?" he trailed off slightly, able to sense a tension in the room. He noticed a suitcase sitting in the corner. His heart immediately began to race.

"Lana let me show you to your room" He led her there quickly, shutting the door behind him after showing her where everything was.

Lana looked at the woman who looked upset but didn’t speak a word. She followed Mr. Williams up to the guest room. “Thanks.” She said, once he made sure she was settled in, he left.

Within minutes she could hear voices downstairs and she went to the door, opening it slightly and listening.

Liza told him that she was sorry, and that she just needed to focus on her career more, she didn't have time to get married. After questioning her, she admitted she had been sleeping with somebody else at the office and with that she picked up her suitcase and left, handing Fitz back the engagement ring he had given her as she left.

Fits grabbed the bottle of wine he had bought from the bag and poured himself a deep glass, before slumping on the couch, looking over the ring he had handed her, trying his best to hold back the tears. He felt so sad and so angry all at the same time, he didn't know what to do.

Lana waited a little while before heading back downdtsirs. She saw that Liza was gone and so was the suitcase and Fitz looked upset. She walked over, looking down. “What happened?” She asked, kneading the hem of her skirt between her fingers, it was a nervous habit she picked up to help with her anxiety.

Fitz closed his fist around the ring suddenly, Lana"s voice startling him, he had forgotten she was here. He had drunk almost 3/4 of the wine at this stage. "Oh ahh, Liza decided she just needed to take a little break to herself, that's all" he told Lana, from gating back years, his fists clenched at his sides
