so take me on

  • "Okay, so... Vampires, demons, and angels are a thing in popular occult movies. But I don't know what the hell Djinn, wraiths, and shapeshifters are," Kaycee said, making a face as she watched him for a moment, though she felt an odd warmth fill her when she saw his smile. Ducking her head in hopes of pushing the feeling away, she nodded. "Thank you," she told him before she shifted, climbing into the car, and buckled up.

Sam was mildly surprised to hear her words, though a broad grin soon formed on his features. "You don't have to thank me. I'm just glad we got there in time," he told her gently, watching her, "The world needs a good Francis to exist." And, really, a part of him knew that he needed her to exist, to be alive, as well. The thought of losing her to this world made his heart ache in a way that he hadn't expected. Still, he opened the back door for her, offering a smile, and motioning for her to climb in.

  • Dean got into the drivers seat, buckling his belt and waiting for Sam and Frenchie to climb in behind him. "Djinn's feed off you, kill you slowly." He explained. "They're kinda like genies, make your wishes come true." He shrugged, remembering his own experience with a Djinn and frowning at the thought - it was a close call. "Wraiths basically live off human brains, and they're scary as Hell." Dean looked over to Kaycee, wanting to make sure that this information wasn't too overwhelming, too much for her to take in, just wanting to make sure she was okay. "And shifters can change into anything they want, and they're disgusting." He pulled a face as he thought about shifters shedding their disguise. "There's so much more, but first, let's get some food." He grinned. "I could use a burger." Starting the engine, Dean smiled as he gently put Baby into motion.

Frenchie smiled as she got into the back seat, getting comfortable. "I think the world needs Sam Winchester more." She meant it, too. She watched Sam as he got comfortable beside her, feeling the connection between them and wondering if Sam felt it too. She frowned as she listened to Dean, wondering how the boys could fight such scary things and still treat it like it was a regular job. The thought of Sam being in any kind of danger made her nervous, and she hated it, but she loved it, too. "Sounds... lovely."

  • Kaycee blinked several times as she listened to Dean's words, processing it all slowly. "Okay, wow, that's a lot to process," she admitted, her brows furrowing slightly as she tried to wrap her head around all of it. "All of that stuff exists? Holy shit." She looked back towards Dean, watching him with shock for a moment. "And you've seen all of that stuff? Fought it? Killed it? Whatever the hell else you guys do with those things?"

Sam grinned slightly to her words, ducking his head a bit. "Yeah, well... Looks like the world gets to keep us," he told her, looking back at her, smiling as he took her in, just so grateful that she was okay and safe, and wanting more than anything to keep ensuring that that remained the case, that she was always okay and safe. He nodded, though. "I know it's probably a lot to take in... And, honestly, that's not even half the stuff we've faced."

  • Dean nodded. "I know it's a lot to take in, but it exists, and there's a lot more to it." Dean shrugged his shoulders lightly as he drove. "We've seen it, fought it, and we've won. We kill them, or they kill other people. We're kinda like the real life Ghostbusters, except worst." He offered Kaycee a smile at his lame joke. "I'm starved."

Frenchie smiled when she saw Sam duck his head. "Hey." She murmured gently. "I'm glad the world gets to keep you." She offered him a gentle smile. "Because that means I get to keep seeing your face." She leaned over to pinch his cheek with a laugh. "It's pretty cool that you can do that as a living." She smiled, slowly coming around to the idea of hunting.

  • Kaycee made a slight face with the mention of it, laughing after a moment. “The Ghostbusters are amazing, though, and they have a catchy theme song,” she hummed out jokingly, grinning over at him before she looked amused. “You have an appetite after all of that? Then again, you got to play hero. How unfair.” Leaning back in her seat, she pouted playfully.

Sam blinked several times, lifting his gaze to eye her for a moment before he grinned slightly, arching a brow. “Yeah?” he asked quietly before shaking his head and rubbing at his cheek. “I’m glad the world gets to keep you, too.” And, he meant it, he really did, because it meant he got to keep her, too - or, at least, that he got to know that she was alive. He smiled slightly, nodding as he watched her. “Yeah… It can be quite the experience, but at least we’re out, saving people. That makes it worth it.”

  • Dean laughed. "One of my first earliest memories is going to a diner after a hunt with Dad and Sam, and I couldn't eat. It's something you have to work around." He offered Kaycee a sweet smile. "Hey, I think you were the hero back there." He told her honestly. "You stuck up for yourself against your boss, and when I killed him, you still got mad at me for putting myself in danger." He pointed it. "Takes a special kind of person to do that."

Frenchie smiled as Sam met her eyes, although she shyly pulled her gaze away. "Who would've thought the world would have a real life superhero?" She smiled at him, watching the street lights pass outside, the sickly neon sign of the diner coming into view. "What's the scariest thing you've seen, personally?"

  • Kaycee listened quietly to what Dean had to say, and she watched him for a few moments before she nodded. “Are you able to eat after hunts now?” she asked with curiosity, wondering if it got easier. She smiled, though, and rolled her eyes. “You could have gotten hurt or worse, of course I was worried.”

Sam smiled slightly, watching her for a few moments, though he eventually chuckled lowly and shook his head. “I wouldn't really call me a superhero,” he told her quietly, though he couldn't help but to enjoy knowing that she thought that highly of him. “Uh… The scariest thing I've seen would probably be Hell.”

  • Dean chuckled with Kaycee's question, nodding. "Yeah, yeah. I can eat anything now, nothing can stop me from doing that." He grinned teasingly. "I mean, it took a few tries to not puke in the back of the Impala, but yeah." His grin broadened at that. Still, he looked to Kaycee, smiling. "I didn't get hurt though." He winked, finding her defensiveness attractive.

Frenchie laughed. "I'd call you a superhero." She reassured, although she frowned in concern when he told her the scariest thing he'd seen. "You've been to Hell?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and suddenly, the overwhelming urge to protect Sam came running through her once more. "That must have been awful, I'm sorry."

  • Kaycee arched an amused brow as she examined him, but she let herself relax a bit, nodding slowly. “Well, then, I guess I’ll try to follow your lead,” she murmured quietly, though she made a face, breathing out quietly. “Yeah, but you could have. You can’t just ignore that.”

Sam offered an amused expression in response to her words. “Well, if you consider me a superhero, I’ll take your word for it,” he told her, though he shifted when he heard her question. “Uh, yeah, it’s… A really long story. Maybe I’ll get the chance to explain it sometime.” He offered a weak smile but blinked. “You don’t have to apologize for it, it was years ago.”

  • Dean smiled with Kaycee's words, seeing her relax a little more as time passed. "I don't think you have to follow my lead." He promised. "I think you'd do just fine on your own. I'll back you up." Seeing the way she exhaled, Dean paid more attention to Kaycee, still ensuring he wouldn't crash the Impala. "But I didn't. I've been in a lot of situations that are totally worst than that, and each time, I came out of it." Dean told Kaycee with ease, finding it incredible how easy it was to open up to her.

Frenchie studied Sam carefully as the words left his lips, and she wondered just how much he'd gone through to say he'd literally been to Hell and back. Watching as he shifted, Frenchie reached out to place her hand on top of Sam's. "I don't imagine that actual Hell is easy to get out of your head. Even if it was years ago." Frenchie murmured. "Besides, it definitely confirms that superhero theory." She promised with a soft smile.

  • Kaycee watched Dean as she listened to him, but she offered a small nod in response. “If you’re sure,” she murmured quietly, though she made a slight face with his further explanation. “That doesn’t make me feel any better about this…” She hated the thought of him being in danger, more so than she could put into words - more than she wanted to put into words.

Sam was mildly surprised to feel Frenchie’s hand rest over his and his gaze went to her as he found himself focusing easily on her, watching her, taking her in, and he offered a smile as he watched her. “It’s not,” he admitted, though he eventually offered a small shrug, “But, I’m here, alive, and that’s better than nothing.” Still, hearing her later words, he couldn’t help but laugh quietly, amused. “I guess I can’t argue with that.”

  • Dean smiled softly, nodding. "I'm definitely sure." He promised, but when he saw the slight face she made, he couldn't help but chuckle, reaching to take her hand gently, running his thumb of the back of her hand in soothing, circular motions, Kaycee seeming to bring out a soft side to Dean that he hadn't seen in a long time. "It's been a long night for you, Kaycee. You've been exposed to things you didn't even know were out there, it's gonna feel weird for a long time." Dean defended easily. "I'm just glad we got there when we did." He frowned then, not wanting to even think of the possibilities of what could of happened. The thought made him nervous.

Frenchie felt her cheeks heat up as Sam's gaze rested on her, and she returned the smile he offered easily, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She couldn't help but study him a little longer than she would anyone else, because this man went to Hell and back - quite literally - and stood to tell the tale, and that was admirable. "You are alive," Frenchie nodded with a soft smile. "Thank goodness." But hearing his laugh, Frenchie's face lit up. "You can't argue with me, sugar, I'll kick your ass." She teased.

  • Kaycee blinked, surprised when she felt Dean take her hand, and she found herself watching him as she relaxed surprisingly easily with just the touch. Still, as she listened to him and took him in, she offered a small nod. “I’m glad you were there, too,” she murmured quietly, chewing on her lip after a moment, shifting, “Thank you, Dean.”

Sam couldn’t help but laugh when he heard Frenchie’s words, and he arched an amused brow as he watched her, taking her in, amused beyond what he could put into words. “Oh?” he asked with amusement, “I don’t think you would.” But, either way, he was glad she was there, that she was safe, that they had saved her, and he was sure she was a force to be reckoned with.
