Opposites Attract

Ryan was surprised that she was breaking down like this. He sat beside of her and put his arm around her shoulder. "Just relax okay. Look at me and breathe." He said, looking into her eyes. "It's okay." He said as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Finley curled into his arms as he put his arm around her, hiding her face in his shoulder as she cried. It felt nice, to have someone comforting her instead of being alone. She nodded a little as he told her to relax, taking a few shaky breaths with him. It didn't take long for her to calm down with him helping to keep her calm and his fingers running through her hair, although even after she had calmed down she stayed curled into his arms, frowning as she focused on the floor.

"I-Im sorry.." she apologized quietly after a minute, reluctantly starting to pull away.

Ryan nodded as he let her pull away. "It's okay." Hs said. He leaned against his bed. "Why does talking about your parents upset you so much?" He asked.

Finley frowned a little as he asked about her parents, hugging her knees to her chest as she looked over at him nervously. "You... You won't tell anyone if I tell you, right..? I-I'm not supposed to talk about it.." She asked softly, biting her lip. She felt like she could trust him because he'd come up here to comfort her, but she was still a bit worried he'd turn around and tell his friends if she wasn't careful.

Ryan shook his head, "I promise I won't tell. I just want to know what set you off." He said. He didn't want to upset her again so he thought it was best that he knew what was going on.

Finely frowned a little, staring at the floor as she hugged her knees to her chest. "..My dad is a famous politician, but he and his wife and my half-siblings live in another state.. I was born after he had an affair with his secretary, and because he knows it would ruin his career, he paid off my real mom and promised to take care of me, but he just pays for the house I live in and gives me a couple hundred dollars a month for food, and occasionally his wife come to check on me... They don't really like me much though, so I only really see them every three or four months... No one ever asks me about them, cause no one really talks to me, so I didn't know what to say.. And I couldn't tell the truth and say that they hate me like everyone else, so I panicked..." She explained with a little frown, glancing up at him. "I-I'm sorry that I ruined your family's dinner... They seem nice.."

Ryan was shocked to hear everything she was telling him. He knew that if people found out they would destroy her. "You didn't ruin dinner. We do this every night. It's not like a special occasion or anything." He said, chuckling. He smiled at her, "I won't tell your secret though." He said.

Finley nodded a little as he promised not to say anything, offering him a little smile. "Ok... Should we finish the project now?" She asked nervously, looking over at the desk where their project was. She really didn't want to do anything at the moment, but she knew she had.to finish the project tonight.

Ryan nodded and got to his feet. "Yea let's finish it." He said, looking over as there was a knock on the door. "Come in." He said.

Nora opened the door a little to look at the two. "Finley, are you okay?" She asked. "I brought you a water." She said, offering it to the girl

Finley nodded a little as he stood, starting to stand too when she heard the knock at the door. Her cheeks heated up in a blush when she realized it was Ryan's mother, nodding a little when she asked if she was ok. "I-Im alright.. I'm sorry.." she apologized softly as she took the glass of water, taking a few sips to try to help calm the last of her nerves. "Thank you.."

Nora nodded, "It's okay. Let us know if you need anything." She said as she left them alone.

Ryan sat down at his desk and began to work on the model. "You don't have to feel bad you know?" He told her. He knew his parents weren't the kind to get annoyed easily. "They are nice people." He said.

Finely frowned a little as Ryan spoke, giving a little shrug as she took a seat next to him. "My parents and everyone at school told me I should always feel bad.. I guess I just don't know any better.." She sighed, setting her glass of water down to help him with the model.

Ryan looked at her, "You shouldn't feel bad about yourself. I mean yea the OCD thing sucks, but you shouldn't let that make you feel bad." He said. He knew that a lot of people picked on her for that. He turned his attention back to the model and leaned back once he finished. "Is that okay?" He asked her.

"Everyone says I'm a freak.. My parents, your friends, everyone else at school.. It's kind of hard to not feel bad about myself when everyone is telling me that I should." She sighed, hesitating a moment once he'd finished with the model before leaning forward to fix a few things, sitting back with a little nod once she was done. "There. Perfect... I should get going, it's a bit of a walk from here to my house.." She said as she stood, grabbing her bag.

Ryan looked at her when she said she was going to walk home. "I could give you a ride." He said as he stood up. He didn't mind taking her home so she didn't have to walk home alone. He pulled on his shoes, then grabbed his jacket. "Come on." He said, grabbing his keys. He walked downstairs, leading her out to his car as he unlocked the doors.

"You don't have to.. I don't mind the walk.." Finely said as she followed him out of his room and downstairs, quietly thanking his parents for dinner on the way out. She stopped by the passenger door, frowning a little as she looked at him. "Are you sure..? What if your friends are there or something, and they see you dropping me off?" She asked worriedly, not wanting him to have to get in trouble with his friends because of her.

Ryan stared at her, "They won't be at your house." He said as he got in. He motioned her in before he started the car. He began driving to her house, then parked out front of it. "Well, I guess I will see you in class tomorrow." He said.

Finley frowned a little when he said they wouldn't be at her house, nodding a little as she climbed into the car. "I-I guess I'm just paranoid, is all.." she murmured as he began to drive. Once there she grabbed her bag, looking over at him as he spoke again. "Yeah, I'll see you in class... Thank you.. for helping me.." she murmured softly, biting her lip as she looked at him. With a little wave she turned and got out of the car, hurrying inside to her house.

The next day she showed up in class as usual, fidgeting with her fingers as she waited for Ryan to arrive with their project.

Ryan walked into the class with their project and set everything down. He pulled out his seat and sat down. Ryan looked over at her, seeing that she was nervous again. "Calm down. We got this." He said, smirking before he heard his friend get his attention. He looked back at his friend, laughing at something he said.

Finley glanced up when he came in and sat down with their project. She nodded a little when he said to calm down, but looked away when he turned to laugh and joke alone with his friends. She busied herself with looking over their project, making sure everything was perfect before class started.
