Savannah was completely and utterly heartbroken. She had just lost her parents and with nowhere else that she could go, she had been forced to move across the country to live with her estranged brother in California. She wanted nothing to do with him but she had no other family to be with and until she graduated, Savannah didn't have a choice. She did her best to avoid Brandon whenever she could but they lived together. They were still forced to cross paths on the occasion.

She was just relieved that she didn't have to start her senior year of school for another two months. Summer break had barely started. Grumbling under her breathe when she made her way downstairs and saw the mess in the kitchen, Savannah started slamming things around. She wasn't going to try and pretend that she wasn't annoyed. Brandon had more or less treated her like a maid since she moved in, not lifting a finger to clean up. Always expecting Savannah to.

Sneering when she heard Brandon start down the stairs, Savannah twisted around to glare at him as he appeared. "Y'know. I know we're both not happy about me being here. I know you don't care about Mom or Dad dying... I know that. But that doesn't make me your fuckin' maid, Brandon. So... you know what. Clean your own shit. I'm going out," Savannah spat through gritted teeth. She twisted around, storming toward the front door. She reached for her purse while shoving her feet into her shoes.

"No wonder they couldn't stand you! You're selfish and you never think about anyone else," Savannah shouted as she yanked the front door open.

A tired groan escaped from Brandon as he rolled onto his bed. He glanced at his alarm clock and then let out another tired groan. It was freaking eight in the morning, what the hell did Sav have to be angry about this damn early in the morning? Hearing more noise coming from downstairs, Brandon thought it wise to just get out of bed and head downstairs to see what the little headache was up to.

So, with his hair still a mess and a pair of sweatpants hanging lowly on his hips, Bandon headed out of his room. His bare feet padding along with the polished wood flooring as he walked. He took two steps down at a time and only stopped moving when he got to the last step that allowed him to see into the Kitchen quite easily.

An then the screaming started. Just like her mother, Sav had quite a beautiful way with words and perspective of things. Always her way of doing things and seeing things. She had no idea that he'd been busy designing a new hotel for a client, or that he had been busy doing multiple meetings in a day so that he could clear some time to take Sav somewhere that could take her mind off of all of the shit that she's been through the past couple of days.

"Alright, go. Clear your head." Brandom said calmly, not wanting to push any buttons of hers so early in the morning. "Although, I would change out of your PJ's first," Brandon said quietly as he pointed at her outfit and then lowered his arms. Then, the tall six-foot-tall male walked into the Kitchen and headed over towards the sink. "I've finally finished all of my work for the next few days so I can help out. Sorry for sorta leaning on you right when you get here." He told her, trying to get onto her good side. Trying being the main word to describe everything.

"I'll make some cinnamon waffles for when you get back," Brandon said as he focused on filling the sink so that the dishes could soak. A hoping that Sav was still addicted to those cinnamon pancakes that his dad made every Sunday when they were younger.

Savannah had scoffed and turned away from Brandon when she realized that he was shirtless, rolling her eyes. She wasn't surprised. He wasn't considerate about others, she knew that. He wasn't about to start doing that now. Huffing at his comment, Savannah could only shake her head as she turned in the doorway. "Oh. Now you care? Will I ruin your precious reputation if someone sees me walking around in my pajamas?" She answered, rolling her eyes again. She flashed a bright smile, putting on all of the charm that she knew. "Oh, don't worry, Mr. Edwards, sir. I'm just going to go walk down to the beach. No one will see me," she answered with a dry laugh. She didn't answer his comment about cinnamon waffles, disappearing through the door.

She continued walking until she found herself on a little cliff by the ocean. It still blew her mind that Brandon lived less than a five minute walk from the beach. She dropped to the ground and pulled her legs up, her bottom lip wobbling as she fought back tears. She didn't want to cry. Not again, but she couldn't help it. Squeezing her eyes shut, Savannah let out a shaky breaky. She hung her head, letting out a sharp sob as her tears started to fall.

It was nearly noon by the time that Savannah managed to drag herself back to Brandom's house. She was completely exhausted, she felt the weight of her loss in every fiber of her being. Shoving the door closed, Savannah kicked off her shoes before she turned toward the stairs. She had no intention of staying down here, where she could potentially run into Brandon. Savannah was angry and hurt and she didn't want to make their relationship any worse than it already was. Her temper did tend to get the best of her, thanks to their father.

A tired sigh escaped from Brandon as he slowly shook his head. He could see how much his father had rubbed off on Sav and it pissed him off. She used to be a sweet little kid, always following him around the house. Asking to go placed whenever she saw him grabbing his car keys. Now, she was your typical teenager with roaring hormones and all. Lucky him to have escaped from one hellhole and be tossed someone else to annoy him.

When Sav left, Brandon got to work on the dishes. He had to admit, he didn't realize how much he had left in the sink till it was pointed out to him. Living alone for close to ten years now really made him forget how to live with others. Meaning, he'd usually only order take out or he'd leave dishes lying around til he used his last plate to eat off. Forcing himself to do the dishes or he'd be forced to eat with his hands like an animal or something.

By the time that Brandon finished the pile of dishes, it was noon and he could hear Sav's footsteps in the hall. "Sav," Brandon called as he put the last plate away and turned to his stepsister. "Sit." He said as he pointed towards the kitchen table. "You need to eat something, I'm not going to have you starve yourself, so come in here and have something to eat." He told her, his tone leaving no room for her to argue with him. "An if you so much as try and head back upstairs, I'll just unhinge your door so you can't get away from me."

Savannah groaned audibly when she heard Brandon call her name. She bit down on her bottom lip, wondering if it was even worth listening to him. He mentioned food but if she was being honest, she didn't have an ounce of her appetite. She just wanted to go upstairs and go back to sleep. Or take a shower, maybe. Whenever she moved, she could feel sand rubbing beneath her clothes and it was beginning to drive her crazy. She started to turn back toward the stairs, prepared to just ignore Brandon. Until he talked about taking her door off of the hinges.

Her stomach turned and she was reluctant to drop down on the chair that Brandon had motioned toward. Savannah glared at him, shaking her head. "I'm not hungry. I'm tired and I'm dirty. I just want to take a shower and take a nap," she snapped at him, crossing her arms. It was more than evident just how unhappy she was at the moment. Savannah didn't feel like she needed to hide it.

Savannah sniffled, wrapping her arms around her torso. "Let's just get one thing straight. You.. You don't like me. You don't want me here. Stop trying to pretend you care or something. I'll be out of your hair as soon as I graduate and then.. then we can just pretend not to know each other. Won't that be better?" Savannah muttered. She was exhausted, done with crying for now. She hoped that she wouldn't get emotional in front of Brandon - that was the last thing she wanted.

"But... Way to act like Dad, I guess. Threatening to take off my door because I won't do exactly what you say," she spat the words, knowing full well that they would cut deep.
