With my new story, I'm writing in third because it's vital to know what's going on with separate main characters when they're not together.

Sometimes I worry I can't do emotion well enough in third, though. >_<.

My current story is third. It needs to be third because the main character, Ryan, is all over the place and he's kind of closed off. You have to learn about what he's feeling/thinking, by what he says to other people. It's not to say it doesn't saying he's feeling a certain way, but you can't just know it. It would throw off the story.

You know, I've found an issue with second person. People keep mistaking my male narrators in my non-sexual OF slashes for female narrators because they automatically assume it's het :tehe:

I must be really freaking bad at hinting.

I love writing in first person with an unamed character. Meaning that any readers have to follow along and gather the hints to understand who the character actually is/how they act/what causes their behaviour.

    I love nameless characters. :D

I like first person best, the story seems to work best for me when it is in that point of view. And most people seem to prefer me working that way.

I'm the opposite, I always need to name my characters - middle names and all! :XD

There have been a few instances where characters names are never mentioned in my writing, but I always know who I'm writing about.

Infinity on a Rooftop never named the character, but I knew who I was writing about. It was just the type of story where I didn't need a name and I thought it would mean more if it could be anyone. It could be whoever the particular reader needed it to be.

I've been abusing second person recently xD
All the stories I've been coming up with involve nameless couples, and the 'he, she' thing is so overdone.

I write some of my one shots using unnamed first person characters, but I always know if they're male or female and what age they tend to be {they're always male, so far.} I've found that readers are quite good at deciphering whether it's male or female.

^ For example the main character/narrator in Fight Club. You know so much about his personality and how he behaves but the entire plot unfolds without ever needing to know his name.

:) I'm a geek but I just think that's a really, really interesting way to write.

    I really like second POV.
I think it sounds really ethereal and gives the story a whole lot more background [if you will]. Though, not many people write it Sad

First or third do fine for me. :cute: But second is my favourite.

I've never written anything in second person before. I might have to give it a go. :) Sounds interesting.

^ I don't really rate the second person myself. I mean, I like it sometimes, but other times I find it a bit OTT!
I normally write in first person... because I find it easier... it's more like a continuous dialogue, I guess.

I mainly write in the first persons, it makes me feel more connected to the character and their emotions. Occasionally I'll use the third person, but I haven't done second person yet, although I'd like to try it.

I used to write first a lot, but not so much anymore.
I use third the most. And then second. And then first.
I'm one of those writers that prefers to show my characters emotions through their actions, rather than just saying the emotions. First isn't exactly the best template for that.

I like reading het from the guys perspective. Instead of the usual "He grinned crookedly at me and I felt myself melt inside", I want to read "Why is that weird girl staring at me?"

    I guess I'm weird.

^ Girls POV annoy me. I think it's the girls characters. Guys are so much better which is probably why I like slash more than het.

I tried writing a story in third but it got annoying and I kept wanting to slip into first person. All my later stories are in 'I' rather than 'he'. I've never tried 'you' because I don't tend to like reading it so I haven't bothered trying to write it.

I love doing that in one-shots. In chaptered stories it just kinda gets...weird.

    -----

For a new one/two-shot I'm doing, I'm trying to get it to be in first-person that reads like third.

Hahaha...Emira and I have got this awesome thing going on, its a third person story until the last chapter, where you find out that the narrator is actually a character that befriends one of the main characters. It kicks ass.

I think it's 'cause girls have a tendency to be more self-conscious, and worry more about what the guy is thinking of them, or over-romanticise their partner's beauty, rather than just concentrating on whether or not they want to screw them.
    :tehe:

It's why I usually write my girls as sociopaths and sex addicts.
