    I know that India
Sikhs believe that being superstitious is frivolous and a sin. Granted, that's 2% of their population.

    I don't think Canada has any. =\

-If a bird shits on you on your wedding day it's good luck.
-if a bird crashes into your window, something bad will happen, but if it happens again, it will neutral out.

I'm Filipino and there's this superstition about cutting your nails at night..
The Filipino ancestors said that you shall not cut your nails at night
because it calls the spirits to your area.. or home..
Then I have proven that superstition wrong...along with the black cat...I owned one...I miss Blacky...he was such a sweetheart compared to my first cat Cry

Friday the 13th so far is the only one I consider unlucky...I always end up with a cut or get hurt in someway....so much for thinking positive on those days... Disgust

    Oh found one!
If you throw a coin in the River Tay or Forth you get good luck.
Yea thats a superstition for Scots. :cute:

It is unfortunate if a stranger counts the number of your sheep, highland cattle, or children.

It is unlucky if an odd number of folks sit around a table, and the number thirteen should be avoided at all costs, for if thirteen folks sit around the same table, one of the thirteen is sure to die that year.

It is unlucky if a stranger walks across a bundle of fishing rods on the seashore, or over oars, or sailing gear, when a boat is about to go to sea. If it happens, means must be used to get the stranger to retrace his steps.

It is unlucky to serve around a table, except from left to right, as that is the direction the sun moves.

It is unlucky to have a grave open on a Sunday, as another will surely be dug during the week. On a more positive vein, if you rock an empty cradle, you will soon rock a new baby in it.

    I'll post more later.

In the USA, I don't think we're too supersticious... but some that I've heard are:
-Rain on a wedding morning is bad luck
    -spilling salt is bad luck
-a black cat crossing your path is bad luck

That's all I can think of though.
I think that's more of a general Western world superstitions. Although spilling sale is bad luck unless you take it and fling it over you left shoulder.
The cat one is always cahnging, sometimes it's black and other times it's white.
In Poland white cats bring bad luck and black cats bring good.
yeah, black cats are good luck in the UK too.

In Canada, if a bird take a crap on any window near you, it's considered good luck.

To be frank, I find that very repulsive. :file:

Having a robin in your back garden means someone in the house is going to die. (my nana... seriously. I love robins! They're pretty).
And I think it's an Irish one too... but it may be a British one, I can't be sure.

Probably one of the most famous Scottish superstitions.

When in a theatre, and the play MacBeth is on, it is forbidden to utter the word MacBeth, as it will bring bad fortune and luck.

In Wales we don't really have any superstitions we just inherited them from other countries like America and Scotland.

    - A bird shits on you - good luck
    - walking under a ladder - bad luck
    - walking across three drains - bad luck
    - black cat crossing your path - bad luck
    - seeing a 1 magpie - bad luck
    - seeing 2 magpies - good luck

the rest of them i think have been mentioned...

    In India-

    1) Cutting your fingernails in the night will make you poor.
    2) You should not sweep your floor in the night.
    3) If a scorpion bites you, with every move it makes, the poison spreads into your body.
    4) If a scorpion bited you and it is killed, the poison won't spread in your body.

This is all I can think for now

I dunno if Australian's have any actually....

I know that the number 13 is lucky for Italians and bad luck for other countries....

Though my brother told me off for breaking a mirror. Said I'm gonna be unlucky for seven years. My luck has never been so good, so I see no difference. :XD

Now I'm not 100% sure of this because I'm technically not a New Zealander, yet.
But if you sleep in a marae you have to fall asleep with the top of your head facing the wall or spirits will think it's free and wonder around in there.
And when a person dies they have to spend a night in there before being buried. But they have to be in the middle of the room, not touching the walls.

There are like 20 million other rules as well...
    Weird.
The sleeping thing is odd, I didn't know new zealanders were great spirit believers.
That's mainly for Maori people. Pakeha aren't particularly superstitious.

-don't ever get married at the same time your sibling will. One of you will die. Thats called sukob in the philippines
-don't try on your wedding dress before the wedding, its bad luck
-after you visit a funeral, dont go straight home, the spirit will follow you
-when a hearse with a coffin inside passes by, pray for that soul (even if you dont know who it is)
-breaking glass is seven years bad luck
-opening umbrellas indoors is bad luck too

i'm not sure if those are real but, yeah...

oh, and has anyone heard of the bloody mary legend already? They said that if you chant her name 13 times infront of a mirror at a dark room, you would see her there...

I am not sure this is regional, but supposedly the play "MacBeth" is cursed (like, people have dropped dead in the middle of performing it) and if you say "MacBeth," there's a charm you're supposed to do to uncurse yourself. It's something like, go out a door, turn around three times, spit over your shoulder, and say "Hail, Mary." I'm sure you can Google it and find it, lol.

    ...

There's something else about Rome...throw 1 coin into Trivi Fountain, you'll return to Rome...throw 2 coins in, you'll fall in love in Rome...throw 3 coins in, you'll get married in Rome. I wonder what'll happen if you throw 4 coins in, lol?
