I was given a creative writing assignment for my Intro to Literature class last month and I started
crying so much halfway through it. It was a really personal piece and I was shaking as I tried to finish.
So, really, it wasn't so much my character but damn, I haven't felt that affected by an emotional
    scene in awhile.

Now that I think about it, I haven't reacted in that way since Wildfires, where the protagonist
was really going through some tough issues in her life. That anxiety and hopelessness was mutual.

I think it's necessary to be into it. To really get a reader invested, you need to be invested. You need to care or they won't. And emotion is usually the way to connect.

It's kind of sad, but there were a few points in Fall of Rome when I found myself crying. I think I just really related to Eleanor's character and what she was going through, so when she cried, I cried Cry
