About Asperger's Syndrome

Do any of you suffer from it?

I was mis diagnosed with it when I was seven.
Since then another specialist claims I have a less severe version on the autistic spectrum. I don't use eye contact with people I don't know, and I can be very shy. I have intamacy issues, its really hard to say my feelings to people, such as my parents and my boyfriend. I keep everything to myself, my grandmother died two years ago, and I acted like she never existed, its just the way I handle things, even though I really regret it afterwards. I also suffer from dyspraxia, which is comman with kids on the autistic spectrum. Plus I absolutely hate sharing things, I never let anyone touch my property.

My younger brother was diagnosed with it as well. He didn't start talking until he was 4/5 years old. He went to a special needs school for a year. Now he talks for Britain, but has pretty bad self confidence issues. He has had many obsessions, I have never had an obsession. He's a smart kid, he's going to Grammar School in September.

I don't know anyone personally with it, but Jerry on Boston Legal has it, and I suppose watching his ticks is a little uncomfortable at times.

I read a book about a boy who had it, and i loved it.

I was really scared to approach the topic because I didn't want to offend anyone.
There was a girl on Cycle 9 [I think] of America's Next Top Model that had it. And, to be quite honest, I didn't see anything "wrong" with her except she was a little socially awkward.
I don't really understand the whole thing.

That's one of my favorite books.
There's a boy in my grade who has that. He's really nice and extremely smart, but everyone makes fun of him because he can be so... well... in your face, for lack of a better term. It makes me so mad, though. I'm like one of his only friends. People are terrible.

I remember her, Heather. I talked to my friend last week and she knows a few people that have it and they are exactly like that. She said they don't have friends but do talk to people but are pretty much loners. I was so confused when she said the name. I think it is very interesting.

My mum bought that book for our whole family to read so we could understand my brother better.
He has high functioning Autism bordering on Aspergers, so he's not as bad as Chris, but he does have a few similar little habits.

Personally, I feel that conversations are just that little bit more informed when you're talking to someone with Aspergers, really. I think the only real problem I have with it is trying to pronounce it without giggling, 'cause I'm a bit immature like that.

I have Asperger's Syndrome and I do have friends. Sort of. It's like... I don't want to be a loner, but I hate being around other people most of the time. This is mostly because they do not understand me and think I'm strange. Well, when I go back to school in September, I can tell them why I'm "strange".

I joined Mibba because it's easier to talk to people as most of you have th same interests as me and it's easier because I don't have to talk to you face to face.

That's a bit like me. You could have it, but a less severe case.

I found it so intresting I'm writing a story about it.
It's fashinating really.

my fifteen year old brother has aspergers.

sometimes it seems like my brother has the best way of seeing like, he doesn't actually believe in emotions, to some people that sound moronic but he has a very unique take on life.

he has so much difficulty in school becuase his special needs coordinator (as well as teachers and people around where i live, in middle class england) believe that he has so many problems because he comes from a 'bad' family which is so, so wrong. It's just not true- he is very smart and can do so well.

Like many people with aspergers he has a high ability in maths, it's his thing. Many people misunderstand lack of social communication as stupid, it's not.

Bill Gates has Aspergers, he's worth $80 billion.

Just like you said, Bill Gates has AS and he's quite clever I'd say.

People with AS just needs to be understood for what they are, and not looked upon like freaks.

Maths is not my thing xD
I got 66% in my last test D: AND THAT'S REALLY BAD!
I believe in emotions, but I can't see them. I have trouble with that.
And in relationships. I dated Dimitri, and he has AS, so that was slightly easier than the relationship I had with Braxon, but I ended up liking Braxton more.

Quite a few people (to the best of my knowledge) with Asperger's Syndrome are extremely smart.
Like. Last year I did the LINKS program (which is where you sign up to take a class with an autistic peer of yours and help them out) and I was paired with a boy named Jack. He was the most bright kid I'd ever seen. Seriously. He knew nearly everything about whatever we were talking in class, no matter what the suject was.
Not every single case of Asperger's is like that, though.
