I guess that having somebody close to you with BDD would impact your own self image, right?
It could certainly make you wonder, but it's not like it contagious or anything. It's a mental distortion.

I actually don't think it would, especially if you have 'normal' self esteem.
I think a lot of people realise that BDD is an irrational mental disorder that can take over people's lives. Personally, I don't think I'd be influenced that much by a friend if they had it, mainly because I know what it's about. It's irrational and abnormal for people with BDD to think the way they do. At least I think so anyway.

My dad is a clinical psychologist and yes he has told me over and over that he thinks I have it. I don't know I guess it is just something hard to avoid for me. I am starting to worry about myself because I think I might slowly be developing anorexia due to my BDD. I really do need help and I am probably going to talk to my dad about this later.

About the whole thing with BDD being related to eating disorders, BDD is mainly linked to people hating things like their skin, noses, hair, eyebrows, etc Some people do it for their bodies, too. I most likely have BDD. I've went through periods of anorexia and now I'm just thinking about my weight 24/7 and I'm always bringing it up to see what other people say and sometimes I skip plans because I feel too self concise.

I hate it so much. It's just constantly on my mind and it's stressing me out so much. I feel like nobody will ever fully like me because of my weight, even though everyone else thinks I'm skinny. :/
