I always thank people for reading and stuff, and if needed I apologize for the long wait.

I really don't like essay long A/Ns. It's just annoying and breaks the flow. I used to do them, but I end up deleting most A/Ns after a while now.

If the chaptre's taken ages to come out or there's something in particular that I want to say about the story I put that in the AN.
Or if I'm going away for a few days and can't update, I'll say that too.

I apologize for slow updating sometimes. And I credit beta-readers, when I have them.

Every once in a while, I like to get my readers to "interact" in the story; I make a journal that says, "Hey guys, the band is going to be answering 'fan' questions again in an interview, so if you want your question to be answered leave them here," then in an author's note I'll leave a link to that journal. "Hey guys, doing another 'fan' interview. Click here for details." (That way, the comments section for my story isn't filled with their "interview" questions, as well.)

Sometimes my readers or friends like to draw fanart for my story, and if they do I might leave a link in an author's note. "Hey, so and so drew Evan for me. Click if you wanna see."

If I write a one-shot that's based on the story, I might link that, too. "Dudes. Spinoff. Check it." Same for if anyone else writes a one-shot based on my story, which happens less often but does sometimes.

That's about it. Just small stuff I think my readers would be interested in, or things that might affect updates or whatever. Otherwise, I have journals to rant and rave about other things in.

I do too. All but crediting for beta-readers.

    In my author's note,
    it depends.
I'm random, but usually they say something about I couldn't update because of blah, and updates should be coming and of course, shameless promotion. and videos too. sometimes at least

I use it to apologize to readers for just about anything... Sometimes it's about a late chapter, or going on hiatus... Possibly for a crappy (in my eyes) chapter... Anything like that.
I'd prefer not to have much in the Author's Notes, I rarely actually read them when I'm reading stories on Mibba, so I am beginning to note add Author's Notes without a good reason, and not just mindless rambling about what is happening, and how to pronounce names (I tend to make some weird ones in older stories).

As for, as posted earlier, the whole "comment or I stop" thing... Comments? I'm usually only getting readers from my close friends who tell me right away what they think =) I don't care for the comment section, it's there for people if they desire it... I look at readers. If its greater than before, I will write the next chapter... If I have even one subscription in the story, I will continually write. I aim to please a single person and that is it. If I can accomplish one subscription, I have done my job as an author--getting my message out to the public.

In reference to the demanding for comments? I find it ridiculous, and I do like to revolt :weird Just don't comment. But if I really feel the need (like, their story may just happens to be fantastic) then I PM them their comment.

If I'm late at updating I usually say sorry for that, which is alot :lmfao

But in my author notes I just thank the people that have commented and thank the people that have subscribed.

Sometimes if I've posted a new story/one shot I link them in that particular chapter, I only do it the once though. I don't want to seem persistant

I think mostly I say thankyou, and once I lied about updates... not purposefully. So I had to apologise about that to my non-existant readers, just in case any came along and thought 'but where are her updats?'
Or apologies on the chapters epic suckiness and reasons why it sucked so epically.
Credit is given where credit is due if I've used someone elses stuff (happened once, I quoted a Duffy Poem then pimped her out)
Once I did put in something random... it was probably really early in the morning though.

I hate it when someone threatens me for comments. It's just stupid. However asking nicely is sometimes acceptable (only 'cause I did it once )

I thank the readers for sticking with the story and reading it, sometimes I apologize for having such a long wait.

I'll link to songs that inspired the chapter.

I often thank my beta reader for being awesome and lassoing my writing into something people would actually want to read.

I don't really read author's note much, because they aren't really important to me.
In my author's notes, I do right some silly stuff, and I do apologise if I haven't updated in a while.
But, really, I don't pay much attention to them. It's the story I'm more intrested in.

I just usually thank the readers for commenting and subscribing. I don’t force it at them to comment, but I hint it slightly with something like “Comments are always appreciated.”

I link up some of my friend’s stories as well, or links to contests.

    "Con/crit? (:
    Comments are loved."

That's what I write on all my drabble/one-shots.

I almost always put "comment" on mine. It's very rare that I post a picture link. If I do, it's probably important to the story, 'cause I'm lazy and don't describe the character's house enough xD
But that's only if I REALLY have to.
Or I'll put a link to another story of mine or my friends.

I have never made a habit of writing author's notes. I didn't do it on DA, and I don't intend to start here. The only exception is on one or two pieces; there is a line or two included from some well known poems, and I feel it's important that I credit the authors. Otherwise? No note for me.

I generally just say whether or not I'm confident about the story (I have confidence issues), ask for what the readers think, etc. Since I use different languages (German, French, and Swedish) in stories, I also use the AN area for translations.

I usually just put credits to a song I used in there or an apology for lack of updates or something like Tell me what you think. I don't demand anything.

    I rant, about anything.
It gets me comments and it makes people laugh.
And it makes my commenters feel more dear to me when they can relate to something.
Also I personally thank all of my commenters, even if I have over twenty.
    It's just something I do :]

I apologise for not updating, mention something quirky I did while writing or some thought I had, thanking people who commented/subs and say something about having more comments.
