Stories about the "cute boy band" aren't always the most popular, trust me XD One of the downsides I've experienced through the comment swap feature is people using their comments to bash the fandom I choose to write in instead of providing me with feedback on the actual content of my story.

Anyways, this article was great, but I feel like there's pretty much no mention of some of the issues that this feature does still have.

I really want to try this feature when I start posting stories on here, but I'm scared of people feeling forced to read my stories, sort of. I'm worried because most of my stuff is going to be fanfics (mainly about musicians that aren't super popular), and so people won't understand what I'm talking about. I'm also unafraid of this, however, because even though people may not be familiar with the characters, they are now given the chance to fall in love with the story for other reasons (the plot, diction, writing style, etc).

However, I was wondering, is there a way to pull a story out of the comment swaping program? Like, if you decide that maybe you don't want so many people viewing it as you originally thought, or something like that?

I have commented 2X on this one story and I return to the comment swap page and it won't let me move on, and I have already received one comment on the story I selected for one.

I've commented 2X, I think, on this story and it won't let me move on...

Really Comment Swap didn't sound too appealing but now it's addictive. But I agree there should be either chapter limits or different chapter sections. Another thing, I found this. It's helpful but hopefully Mibba will have a letter counter of its own soon.

I love Comment Swap! I usually don't read much on mibba, mostly because 98% of the stories I've encountered were either really bad or just too tenage-y for my taste. With this new feature (not exactly new but you get it), I find stories by people I didn't even know existed who have diverse writing styles that I end up enjoying. Also, I get to promote my story which, otherwise, would never have an audience on Mibba, since it doesn't exactly fit the standards of what most users here usually like to read. This is a great thing, promotes you as a writer and opens your mind to stories you'd usually pass without even reading the first chapter.

I agree with the length option thing. Yes, if I put in one of 30+ chaptered stories to be commented on, I should be expected to comment on a story of equal length. Bug if I put in a one- or two-shot, I don't think it's fair when I have to comment on a 60-chapter story. And it's usually based in a fandom I don't like/don't understand.

I was a bit wary of the comment swap because I write femmeslash, and while it may be mild, some might not take to it so well, especially if they are forced to read it.

But when I woke up this morning I got such a surprise, I had 4 new comments on Hush, Yael, and they were all gushing how much they loved my story and how, while I do make a few mistakes (we are all human, right?), they loved my writing style.

Or I would be worried about getting a story where its about some One Direction fan falling in love with some random band member, (which I found a story of and I love it! >.< ) or some story that
I just don't like. I mean what do I comment then? But I must say so far I have loved every story they have thrown at me. I have learned that not all fan fictions has to be all school-girly, and I have even learned a new way to look a Christmas

Let's just say that this whole experience was a shocker, cause who would have thought I would have got such great reviews, or be excited about which story I would get next? So while I was scared at first, I must say I agree whole heartedly with you galaxy and I too will be using this feature more often and will be excited for the new updates.

I've always wanted to do the comment swap thing because it's so hard to get readers. Unfortunately, I'm too afraid of someone being "forced" to read my story and then pretending to like it. I'm a bandslash writer so, if the person commenting doesn't know anything about the fandom it gets a little weird. There should be more ways to narrow down what you want to comment on.

I really like this! However, is it all possible that eventually the comment swap feature could extend to poems as well? I think poem swapping would be equally as awesome to the stories. So far it's worked out great and I think it's really cool Mibba added this.

This really is a great feature! I've spent the majority of the day just reading stories I normally wouldn't, really talented writers; I'm glad we have this feature now for sure.

I just hope people can push complaints aside and actually write meaningful comments. Don't let the 200 characters become the max amount you leave for someone. Take the time to give them some real feedback. We have the power to make every mibba story amazing.

I wrote a realy long comment on someone's story, but when I submitted it it came up as 'Click here to edit' and nothing of mine was there and then it came up with only a little paragraph of what I wrote. :/

I wasn't too impressed when I advertised a one-shot of mine to be commented on, barely a page long; and was presented with a 22 chaptered story.

I love this feature but I would love it even more if there was a pass feature or if it gave you options, like if it gave you three fics to choose from instead of just one. I wanted to just try it out and I stuck one fic in there and it only had one chapter but instead I was given a seven chapter fic. I didn't think that was very fair and if that wasn't bad enough, it was something I already read AND something I didn't enjoy/found that wasn't written up to my par. Yes, the fic was good and written well but it was just too clique-y for me. It was all personal judgement. I was left feeling very awkward when it came time to leave a comment.

    @The-Maine Becky

You need to leave a 200+ character comment. Make sure you've left a comment of that size and it will count it.

I was elated when I just found out that my first story to read was a great story on my favourite singer! But it keeps saying I didn't comment when I did, did anybody else have this problem? Sad

I really like the idea of comment swap but the only problem I have with it is that you can't 'pass' stories. Meaning you can't skip a story you don't want to comment on or you have nothing to say about it. You can't just say you don't like someone's story because they won't really like that and you feel bad for doing it.

Hahaha, I totally agree with you about the hockey! I'm from Canada too and dread hockey season so much! Especially when the Stanley cup is on. My first comment swap was about One Direction and to be honest, I don't know ANYTHING about them. I don't know their names and I don't know their faces so I was really confused... so I didn't end up leaving a comment... but however the comment I got back was incredibly harsh and it made me never want to write again Cry
