Introducing Mibba Staff: house of cards.

Victoria is the Mibbian that is mostly seen obsessing over Dougie Poynter, and is our resident McFly fan. She helps out in the Magazine as an Editor and Writer, as well as dedicating what is left of her time to being a Story Editor and volunteer Poem Editor. We're delving deeper into Victoria's mind in this article to see whether there's more to her than just McFly and seemingly holding down half of Mibba on her own.

1. When did you become a member of Mibba's staff/magazine?

I became a story editor just under a year ago, I think. February '13? I honestly can't remember exactly but I think it was then. I started helping out with the poems section a few months back and who knows when I joined the Magazine. I don't even remember. Like...half a year before I became a story editor? Not too sure on that one. I have the memory of a sieve.

2. What made you apply for the position you have?

It was a no-brainer, honestly. I spent most of my time stalking the story section for things to read, so it only seemed natural to apply to be a story editor. I also spent a lot of time in the poems section (silently - I stalk the poems section to this day so watch out!) so when the opportunity arose to help out there, I took it. As for the Magazine, I love to edit work and remove grammar errors so it's a place to quell my Grammar Nazi by editing pieces.

3. If you could have any other position of staff, what would it be and why?

Oh gosh! Erm...I think I'd have to say board mod. Although giving me the power to edit posts and lock threads would be the worst idea anyone could possibly have. I can control myself with my current staff magic powers, but I think I'd go stir-crazy if I could edit posts. You'd just see "Vikki woz ere" in tiny writing at the bottom of every post. So I think I'll just stick with my current positions!

4. What is the one part of Mibba that you think works most efficiently?

I may be biased, but the story section and the genre tags. I see so much activity in there. For instance, I tend to check to page 10 when I'm doing a story report but by the time I get there, page 1 pretty much has all new stories, which is awesome. I also love the classifications for genres on here. I don't think I've been on a site where the classification system for stories is as complex and diverse as the one on here. It makes finding the ideal story that much easier.

5. When did you join Mibba and why?

Oh dear. I joined the site 4 and a bit years ago (5 years in June) now, although I've gone through so many theme changes that you wouldn't know it. How I joined is a complete mystery to me though. I know I was recommended to try the site out by a friend, but I can't remember whether that friend was real-life, DeviantArt or Buzznet related. Again, memory like a sieve.

6. What's your favourite thing about the magazine?

I think the bit I like the most is how much is included. There are fun things like Audrey's crosswords, articles about places and events around the world, story reviews and writing-focused articles. I think that's due to the diversity of the Mag staff though. We're not all from the same countries and I think that brings this amazing mix-mash of cultural and literacy articles that anyone can enjoy.

7. Is there someone in life you look up to the most?

This is going to sound so geeky, but I have one or two band-members-turned-producers that I look up to a lot. Jason Perry, who produced several of McFly's albums was in one of my first favourite bands, A, and I just think his style of producing is so clean-cut and lovely and one day, I'll hopefully be able to produce albums like that. The second would be Mateo Camargo from Madina Lake. He pretty much single-handedly produced their last album on his own and he does some really awesome things on guitar that I wouldn't even dream of trying. Both as musicians and as producers (but more as producers), these two kind of pushed me to be what I wanted to be, rather than just a music teacher.

8. What does Mibba mean to you?

To me, Mibba is this great big mix of users from all around the world writing the most amazing pieces. It's exposed me to so many cultures and ways of living that I didn't even know existed. I've made so many friends here over the years and although loads of them have deactivated or dropped off of the face of the planet, I still think Mibba is this place where you can talk to people from all across the globe and share life experiences as well as writing pieces.

9. If you could choose any piece of writing of yours - be it onsite or not - which are you most proud of?

Unit 731, most definitely. It is is one of these things that started out as an experiment but I'm so proud of how it did turn out. It's taken forever for me to even get this far with it, but I pour so much of myself into it when I do write that it's quite draining. It takes a lot of research as well. When it's finished I'll probably completely revamp it, but for now I think it's the best showcase of my writing.

10. Favourite novel?

I hate this question with a passion! Either Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden or Tokyo Year Zero by David Peace. The first is exceptionally well know (but still amazing!) and the second isn't as well known but I love historical fiction and these two really fit the bill when it comes to hitting all of my requirements for reading.

11. Tell us one thing you don't normally talk about.

This is difficult because I talk about everything on here. Eh...I have this crazy irrational fear of travelling anywhere with people. Someone once told me it's because I hate not being in control of my own safety but I just can't shake it. I get panicky when I'm on the bus to university or in the car, even if it's a ten-minute journey. I have gotten better as of late but it does freak me out still, especially if the person driving thinks it's funny to swerve or if another car comes remotely near to the vehicle that I'm in.

12. If you could say something to every member of the site, what would it be?

HAY DERE. Eh...honestly, I don't know what I could say. Everyone on this site is so lovely and welcoming and you all write some pretty amazing stuff. Don't give up on what you're doing and don't let concrit get you down. Take the points they make, change your writing to fix them as you see fit and watch your writing improve. Always take into account the fact that you're writing for yourself as well. Don't let lack of comments get you down because you might find that people just haven't found your story yet!

13. And last question - if you were to die in a plane crash and could take five people with you, who would they be?

Well I hate planes and never intend to be on one so this question is defunct right from the start. But that's horrible, I'm basically sentencing 5 people to death, right? I want to say One Direction (I HAVE MY FLAME SHIELDS UP, COME AT ME) but then I'd have to spend the plane journey with them so I'm going to say five people that I would want to have a conversation with before I die and hope they survive when I don't. So for that it'd have to be Dougie Poynter, Mateo Camargo, Jason Perry, Debbie Harry and...David Cameron. I don't really want to talk to David Cameron, I'd probably spend half of the time making fun of his massive forehead so there's my comic relief. Always better to have a laugh if you're going to die.

Special thanks to broken bells and Fandango for editing.
