Introducing Clubs: Chinese Music Club

The Chinese Music Club is an amazing club for anyone who loves Chinese music and the performers that play it. In this edition of Introducing Clubs, the club president, Lee Hi;, tells us all about this wonderful space for Chinese music lovers!

What is the Chinese Music Club all about?

All about them beautiful Asian boys! This club is focused on the Chinese side of Asian music and it's about everything: pop, rock, etc. It's a place for everyone to come together and fangirl over this genre, although it's still a bit of an underdog.

What are some features of the club?

The features in the club are Word of the Week, in which we learn a new word or phrase in Mandarin Chinese, Gif of the Week, Artist of the Week, where we fangirl over amazing and talented people, Video of the Week, a showcased music video, and then any news that we come across about Chinese artists that we want to share with everyone. Chinese music isn't very well known so there aren't any story related events that I can add just yet.

What would you say the motto of the club is?

I don't think we have a motto. I guess if we did it would be something like 'Keep Calm and Listen to Chinese Music.'

What is it like being the president of this club?

Well, the club just started out, but so far it's really fun! It is a bit more responsibility, of course, to take the time and prepare each post, but I love doing it! It's really fun to meet people who have similar interests or who want to get to know this genre.

What would you say to anyone who is thinking about joining?

Do it. Do it now. But seriously, this is a wonderful genre full of amazing and catchy songs. Everyone is welcome to join us and help this genre grow. Even if you're a long-time fan (which would be totally awesome) or you're just being introduced, it's a place for everyone to talk and share their thoughts on great music.
